  1. I hooked up an oil temp gauge b4 fitting the cooler just to see what the oil was doing. On a 20 deg day oil temp was sitting between 87-90 degrees. I did the same test with the cooler fitted and temp was around 74. I then blocked airflow to the cooler and ran the test again and got 84-86 which I'm comfortable with. I will monitor this when winter comes and see if a thermostat will be required. The oil lines in the kit where way too long, at this stage I have just found an interesting route to run them along and have covered the areas that would rub on anything with foam padding. Once I work out exactly what I'm going to do come winter time I will then cut the oil lines down to the exact required lengths. Will be interesting to see how this budget kit performs on the track. If all goes well I will find out on Jan 30 at Sandown.
  2. Moving on. Cooling is up next. I recently purchased an oil cooler kit with filter relocation. Its a cheapie vulture Motorsport China racing special. This is the first Chinese parts going on this car. The quality looked reasonable for the $200 outlay and there are many people running these kits successfully so I rolled with it. Pics of finished product. Only problem with it is it has ruined my stealth engine bay:(
  3. Now that the Mrs has given the green light, I have been slowly getting the car ready for track work. Next on the agenda is brakes. I recently bought a set of RDA dimple/slotted rotors and ar1m pads. I set about fitting the fronts today. Once there I measured the thickness of the existing factory Nissan discs and they both came in at 29.8mm. Plenty of meat, I made the decision to leave those on and just fit the a1rm's. Didn't take any pics as I had the Mrs on my back and didn't want to waste any time. Every one loves pics so I'll just add one with the wheel back on. On another note, my car was still fitted with factory Nissan pads. Wtf Front brakes done, that leaves the rears and fluid for next time
  4. A couple of updates. The Mrs has allowed me to go to track days again, woot woot, but there was a condition. I have to install a roll cage. Not so bad. I sourced a safety 21, 7 point bolt in cage for very little $ and have thrown it in. I have it as a 4 point ATM and will add the cross bar between the two rear bars when I head out to the track. The front bars are dash dodger types and I probably won't run them. Still undecided. Before anyone jumps in and tells me these cages aren't cams and fia approved. I am aware of that and as I don't intend on competing in any competitive racing that requires that standard it doesn't bother me. I'm just after something that will prevent the roof from caving in, in the event of a roll over. Knocks on wood. A couple of pics
  5. Needs single cell cat:D. May even get you into the 300 clubB)
  6. The car is insane and I want it. Couldn't care less about ken cock
  7. Sounds like a top deal. I'll take it, contact me on 1800 ILOVERUST.
  8. Damn, I wanted one with rust. The search goes on:(
  9. Probably because of the entertainment factor. Its the only thing this thread has got going for it.
  10. I had a close call yesterday where a motorcyclist cut in front of me without indicating and then had to emergency brake due to other cars ahead. I knew I couldn't stop in time so I swerved around the bike and missed it by only centimetres. It was oh so close. Bike rider deserved to be hit but that's another story. When i got home and reviewed the footage on my PC I was able to make out the no. plates on the bike and of all the vehicles in my line of sight from the footage prior to and up to the point of the incident by pausing the footage frame by frame. So although it is true that you can't clearly make out plates from more than 5 metres, there is a place for these cams and they can be very useful. On this occasion if I had hit the bike rider, the footage was clear enough to be used as evidence and would have clearly shown exactly what had happened and that I was cruising along minding my own business when some f#*kwit decided to just jump in front of me and get cleaned up.
  11. Can't believe no one has snapped this up yet. If I didn't already have 1, I'd be on the next flight to sydney.
  12. I recently bought the kaiser baas r10+ on sale at super shit auto ATM for $98. 1080p records fairly decent picture quality. Considering all these cams are made in China or best case Korea, its hard to know what your getting. I think its a good idea to buy from a shop that u can return to, just in case. My 2c.
  13. Looking good. What size is the turbz? Looks pretty menacing hanging down there. Its a shame its gonna be hidden under everything.
  14. Needs more gauges
  15. David Jones black amex. Which is the standard card. Annual fee of 99 but has really good rewards scheme. We use the card for shopping for my wife's business and cash in the points for credit which pays the annual fee and we end up with about a $500 profit at the end of the year. Works well for us in our current circumstances.
  16. They're what you call IRB. Independent rear bearings. Lol >_>
  17. Maxxed out
  18. No probs mate. I just ordered my maxxtuning ecu:lol:
  19. Damn, should've ordered overnight from Japan parts:D
