Thanks @Komdotkom I'm up to 125km now. Wow 500, I was thinking 200. Suppose I'll leave it a bit longer then. Was waiting for the rain to stop all day today. Cleaned the shed up, packed away all my tools and happy to say no 10mm's where lost, there was a 17 that went missing but that turned up this arvo. The rain stopping just wasn't happening so I just went out in the rain. Did another 65km. I think the knocking sound I can hear is just the rear door card/trim thingies flapping about. I'll refit the rear seats tomorrow and test drive again. It skids easy in the first 4 gears without trying much in the wet, lol. Happy to report, everything seems good and everything works as it should, nice cold a/C and heat. Just on the heater, it's been a while but it felt like I'd have to put it to 26 or above to get good heat, I think before 23-24 would produce good heat. Is it possible to put the heater hoses in the engine bay the wrong way round? I do remember asking myself if I was putting them on correctly when refitting them. Skids getting closer. -

Still annoyed about it. Looking at it again. The Exedy has a lot more rivets too. Should've sent it back. On a positive note, Aisin is part of the Toyota group, hopefully it gives me the right Toyota feeling. I will make many prayers to the car gods. -

I don't think I mentioned it already but I took the liberty of getting a new clutch disc for my NPC organic clutch. Last time I rang NPC a few years back they wanted like 380 just for a disc. Yeah nah. After doing a bit of research I worked out it's basically just an exedy nsd104u disc. So I took a punt and ordered it. Less than half that price. Unfortunately what I received wasn't an Exedy, it was an Aisin equivalent. I pondered for a while and thought, it is Japanese made and it's the pressure plate that creates the clamping pressure, it should be right. So far so good. Time will tell in the long run. The original disc was down to around 6.3mm and the new Aisin is 8.8mm There is some differences in the centre hub heights but once put into the pressure plate all the measurements are correct and it seems to work fine in the car. Also the springs are much smaller but 2 extra. Would have preferred the Exedy for sure. Was annoyed, I didn't get exactly what I ordered. Didn't want to complain or send it back either as that particular business has looked after me in the past. Decided to just keep the peace. -

That ATP performance can is nice but I'm done pouring $ into this thing unless I absolutely have to. There is a small eBay spec catch can up where the factory ABS would sit and is plumbed back into the intake. Previous engine didn't breath hard at all, It hardly got anything in the can after a track day. Hopefully this motor is similar. Fingers 🤞 -

So I dragged my sorry arse out of bed around 11:30am as I was just getting sorer lying there. Best way to get over bat flu must be to fix skyline, so that's what I did. Eased my way into it, re tensioned all the accessory belts first moved onto removing wheels fitting street brake pads Fitting street tyres/wheels removing race seat removing roll cage refitting stock seats filled coolant, took around 9.8 litres of repcos finest 500k mix (does that mean I'll never have to change it again) lol saw a possible way to fit rear knock plug without removing starter motor. From a certain angle I could actually see the sensor and if I layed down underneath a certain way I could get my right hand in and touch it. I got the plug up there but couldn't get it on. Lucky I had a spare knock sensor, had a good look at it and it has a locating groove. Took me a while how to work out how I got my hand in there in the first place. Hand went in between the steering shaft and over starter motor, rotated the plug and found the locator, heard the click, boom baby. Done. At this point I thought I was ready for HMAS skytanics maiden voyage. Started her up, no belt squeal, no lifter tap anymore and off I went. Was trying to keep varying the rpm and trying to keep some load on the engine as much as possible, especially at the start. I was keeping the rpm between 1 and 2k while sitting at the lights. Everyone thought I wanted to race or something. 1 guy in a Honda Civic had a go, lol. As the KMs climbed I started giving it more boost and rpm. I briefly gave it 1.3 bar at mid rpm and then heard a pooshed sound. Damn, no boost anymore. Instantly thought I must have blown a cooler pipe off. Lucky it's not an afm ecu, I would have been pushing. Slowly made my way home. Got home, popped the bonnet, had a quick look at all the obvious spots, couldn't see a loose pipe anywhere, started having bad thoughts and then there it was, Easy spot to work on, a couple minutes later I was heading off again. I covered a total of 60kms, I started to give it more rpm and boost. Got to around 5.8k rpm and was trying to keep boost between .5 to 1 bar with a couple short bursts of 1.3 bar. All in all, it feels and sounds good. Goes pretty much exactly the same as before, so far as I can tell. Obviously haven't treated it like a red headed step child yet so hard to say. There was a slight knock coming from the rear or middle of the car when power was on/off. I'll have to check out the gearbox mount bolts and any other bolts back there, exhaust mounts etc. After I got home, checked for any leaks, couldn't see any and cleaned and tidied up some odds and ends in the engine bay. Skyline is back baby. Should I dump this break in oil crap yet or leave it a bit longer? When can I do skids? -

Oh what a feeling, "Nissan". Is this what Toyota owners feel like driving around their 90's Toyota's with hideous interiors. Suppose they can't get everything right. -

Thanks mate. My neighbours thought there was a bushfire with the amount of smoke coming out the exhaust. As well as all the lube in the cylinders the exhaust would of been full of a cocktail of oil and coolant. Still finding little surprises hidden below, don't want to go there again, yet. Lol -

I feel like actual garbage. Body is aching bad, headaches and can feel the fever. Funny though I felt good in the morning and went to work for 5 hours. All of a sudden my condition took a big turn. Too late @Dose Pipe Sutututu, it's alive. oil went in, lucky I bought the $2 special bin boat oil. Just enough. No coolant yet, fired it up, started first go. Was keeping it between 1 and 2k rpm sounded healthy and like it's ready for skids. Really good oil pressure, similar to before, just under 3/4 on the stock toy gauge which surprisingly still works. Alternator belt was screaming so didn't keep it running too long, lifters are tapping slightly, hopefully they bleed up and stop after a couple of minutes run time. They where stored in an oil bath but at one point after being installed in the head, engine was turned upside down for around half an hour. I'm buggered, happy just to know it will run. Couldn't even climb in with the race seat installed in my current condition. It will stay as is until I'm over this crap. No video unfortunately, no energy to even try. No amount of V or red bull is going to help today. -

Oil is in and we've got bush. Oil pressure off the key. All sensors reporting correct values. Want to try start it but feeling pretty beat up right now. No wonder I was struggling late yesterday. See if I can muster some energy -

I guess you can guess the reaction when I said maybe I should cut my losses with her. I didn't but sometimes you know, I might think that... On a more positive note. At least R33's are worth something now, so it's not a total loss. -

Agree about euros. Pulling apart is so much quicker than putting back together. Made worse when it's been a while and you can't remember everything. Any modified part seems to always be a pain to reinstall too and complicates things. There's not too many mods on my car but those that are caused difficulties. Simple things like the radiator that should just drop in, needed some finesse and additional time to manoeuvre in, same with oil cooler plumbing, head drain etc. Simple things seemed to want to fight me the whole way. Stupid standard intake plenum didn't help either. After nearly finishing everything, I saw the 2 knock sensor plugs and cold start valve plug hanging there. Was able to contort my hand enough and looking at an internet pic of valve, was able to just get the plug on and seated. Front knock sensor was similar, the rear however I can't even see. Going to have to remove starter motor to create access. FML. I've consumed that many cans of V in the last few work sessions that I should get a sponsorship. edit, I did the same with the mic and bore gauges. Spent many hours, it's one of those things that you get better at and more confident the more you use them. There was also so many hours spent searching, just to try and source valves and valve guides. I think I spent more time on trying to source valve guides than actually measuring and assembling the motor. -

Hold your horses, it hasn't run yet. Fingers crossed,Lol Was thinking about this the other day, could of just paid someone 10-15k and not had to touch anything. My body and hands are sore AF. I understand why people just pay, it's not an easy task to do at home and a hell of a lot of work. Wife says I should have cut my losses and got rid of it. Told her to wash her mouth out with soap. -

Thanks gents, I think I worked it out but this is what I was talking about. There is 2 spots with an 8mm headed bolt. Ive put the ground wire in 1. Not sure if it's the correct one or if it matters. I think the other hole is for the P clamp that is on that little alternator loom. Anyway, if I don't get charge I'll swap the wires around. I connected the battery at one stage and the starter motor started going on its own, wasn't engaging the flywheel, just free spinning. Turns out, I had the starter positive on the wrong terminal. Swapped around and all was well, connected battery, turned key to acc and everything behaved as it should, also gave it a quick crank and starter was all good too. It's around 95% done. Got to finish tensioning the p/s belt, install coil packs, shifter, fill fluids and check for leaks. Need to clean underneath the car too, still a lot of oil from the blow up (free rustproofing). Need to also swap the street wheels and brake pads back on and standard seat too. -

Ok gents I'm kind of stuck and google is failing me plus I didn't take pics. Alternator wiring. I have the plug in and the obvious white/red wires bolted on. There is 1 smallish black wire but 2 posts it can be mounted on. Who knows what's going on here? Starter motor, where does the negative power cable go to? Is it block or chassis? Help, lol -

Hit it hard last night, was in the shed till 2:30am. Had to get everything ready to try fit engine today as neighbour is going away tomorrow. This happenned today Was going smoothly, till it wasn't. Had to lower the sway bar, remove engine mounts to get the engine to its spot and then refit everything. Head drain also created some clearance issues but got there in the end. Some idiot put the drain return on the sump virtually where the engine mount is. Hose fits on but is less than ideal, going to have to revisit it and fit a 90° fitting. Had some hiccups last night too with getting the flywheel and gearbox on. Firstly forgot the sandwich plate, so had to remove clutch and flywheel again. Then gearbox went on smoothly but then realised new block has an alignment dowel in the same spot as gearbox. GB off again to remove said dowel. Cnut. Anyway, it's in now. AC and PS pumps refitted, tail shaft bolted up as well. Left to do is reconnect all harnesses and plugs. Looks like a big mess ATM. Fit dump pipe, radiator, shifter, intake piping and associated bits, air box fill, afluids and hopefully fire it up. Looks like couriers please has lost my break in oil again. Useless pricks. Looks like I'll just get whatever mineral oil is on special at super shit auto. Hopefully it will actually run after all this or I'm going to burn it, lol. -

I will have a 2nd pair of hands. My neighbour is a legend, helped me with removal and has offered his services for installation. I do have a proper sling that came with my engine hoist so can use that, also have some seatbelts around, ratchet straps etc. I'll chat with my neighbour and see what he prefers. -

Most likely going to get one of these jiggers to make it easier to install with gearbox on Will this make my life easier or just lighten my wallet. Does seem like good value at $49 -

Good call, I'm probably going to leave the turbo and exh manifold off as its not too bad to fit in situ but intake side will be pre fitted for sure. I'd rather punch myself in the face than fitting that in car. -

Long block is just about complete now, balancer, oil heat exchanger, clutch/gearbox and manifolds to go and I can start thinking about putting it in. Going to try put it all in as 1 unit with manifolds on, hopefully will go in without trouble. Thanks for input @GTSBoy I can't see it hurting anything.
