R32 Build Log, My First Skyline :-)
nackboy replied to nackboy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
your too right mate im my line of work we design and manufacture products once the hard work has been done and all the plans are made, it is easy to copy it, you can make a good copy or a crappy copy you can get some indication from the quality by the reputation of the re seller and the support they promise a reputable re seller will not stock garbage (you would hope) and in my head, whats the worst that could happen, it will crack, its not like its gonna explode and kill me and everyone in the car -

it looked good to me, he claims a life time warranty (which may or may not be 100% true its ebay after all) i was asking for advice, not to get told that i dont know anything boys, be human for a second, if i thought that i knew everything, why would i come online and ask questions im happy to hear of better ways to do things, that way i will build a better car, btw, this idea has progressed into a new project, i have decided to throw a VR38 into the r32 i started a new thread, -

street, track, drag, in the world of AWD cars its a little fuzzy what i want, a car to race on the street, currently i have finished subaru liberty GT pumping out nearly 300KW at the wheels its a very fast car and its so usable on the street, and i can takedown some more powerful rear drive cars on the street (while they sit on the start line in a cloud of smoke) i was thinking of making that more powerful until i found this skyline now im inlove, i have to get it on the road, it deserves it but i want it to be fast, 10sec passes if possible, (yes i know this is easy with a rb26) but the larger the engine we use the less lag we will get, RB26 is a GREAT engine, RB30s are great too but they can be hit or miss, a VR38 will be reliable, it will be fast, it will be upgrade able now ive been talking to the guy in Europe that has put the vr38 in his r32 he said it was a bitch, and i will lose the power steering and aircon, he says it will be a drag car, and we cant really argue, he has done it it wont stop me from trying, but i will make me look into all this before we start everything is possible, its just how much money we want to throw at it

the reason he has a custom radiator support is to help him fit those giant turbos, his custom inter cooler and the radiator in new locations mick is right, the strut towers are still untouched im running stock turbos, if they fit in the tunnel that is as the vr38 V6 is shorter than the rb26 inline 6 in the north south direction, there will be plenty of room to run the piping

i thought the haltech would be ok too, but i rang haltech and they said i would need to convert over to a cable system there is a way to go around this and keep the electronic throttles but the 4wd system in the r32 will work better with a traditional TPS this is what the guy from the ecu wiring company said as for the inter coolers, i will make it fit, the block is shorter and the radiator fan is gone the one i will use to replace it will be slimmer there should be enough room for a custom setup im pretty good with cad and i have a team of fabricators that are good at welding pipe working for me
