  1. i read about 0.7-0.8kg/cm2 with pod & exhaust on a 32gtst (which is about 10-11psi). No other engine mods. If wastegate is fully open, on a stock system this equals 7psi. So if you remove restriction, the turbo produces more boost, so the amount of boost you'll read with wastegate fully open will be more. I think that's right... someone correct me if im wrong.
  2. what mechanic are you using to do the swap? Might be doing the same swap in a few months, and would perfer to take it to a place that has done the swap before.
  3. ARC are propably one of the best intercooler manufacturers (and also the most expensive). Nothing beats a good front mount, but this will be better than a cheapo front mount (and also consealed, and easy to install)
  4. if u unplug the afm, it'll stop you from thrashing it, but will make the car run wierd, and the mechanic will just plug it back in.... I wouldn't worry about it that much, if it's a performance workshop, they'll be used to driving turbo cars all the time.
  5. they sell them in places like autobarn, for like $5
  6. yeah, there was a booze bus in stkilda, on that road that goes between queens road and fitrzroy st. And then when we drove past that, some coppa had pulled over some tool in some shitbox car. was glad i was driving the magna rather than the skyline, i'll tell u that. I even got waved through the booze bus Saw about 2 or 3 marked police cars on way home on nepean hwy also.
  7. well, im open for suggestions, if anyone knows any other styles etc. that was the only one for 4 doors i could find on yahoo japan, but i'll have another hunt around tomorrow. I can also get those sideskirts separate, so might be worth doing that, and then get a front/rear bar separate
  8. Just wondering if anyone here would be intersted in buying a 4door r32 gts-t kit. Was looking at buying one for myself from japan, and might also get a few shipped at the same time. Let me know if anyone is interested, price would probably be around the $1,500 mark, but i'll have to look into it. Post if interested. (im not sure of the name of kit, but it looks pretty cool) pic here: http://www.geocities.com/merlindahapypig/kit.jpg -Tim
  9. to check alternator, start up car, and then remove negative battery terminal, if car stalls/stops then you're alternator is screwed if the battery was low on charge when you bought it, and you haven't driven it for longer than 10 minutes at a time, then it's never gonna get a chance to charge up, and every time you start it, it'll loose charge. Also, the battery will slowly loose charge over time, a lot of imports that you buy from japan need a jump starter pack to start them when they arrive, coz they've been sitting at docks / on a boat for weeks.
  10. yes http://www.sau.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=44660 read the above thread.
  11. well, given that you can import them for about $20-22k landed + $1-2k compliance & rego. Then $25k sounds about right for a road registered gtr in really good condition. http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/au/st...sp?StockID=2847 is a very good example Prices will go up if 15 year import rule changes though. And you'll probaly get more advertising on carsales.com.au or in trading post or something.
  12. send 180athid a pm, i think he was selling a gt-2540. not sure on flange, but he had it for his 180, so im assuming it's t3
  13. http://www.garage-13.com/other.html nismo blank, not sure what colours he can get though. $75
  14. off topic...
  15. i second that, has been a tough time to bring in cars at the moment, and dealing with j-spec has been great, no problems here.
  16. anyone? anyone know an exhaust shop that can make one up in s/eastern suburbs? the exhaust place i went to says the largest u can get in aus is 2.5inch
  17. yeah, but with non-turbo, u dont get flutter!! If i can be bothered, i'll record a sound file while sitting in car with my mp3 player
  18. if you remove the resonator, let me know, coz i need one 4 my car pm me if you do get rid of it
  19. you probably can't import the 2.0 litre one, as not enoguh power to classify under SEVS (correct me if im wrong, i cant be bothered looking it up) there is also issue of police attention, they won't care/know if it's a turbo or non-turbo, they'll pull u over anyway... though i guess you've got an advantage coz you dont live in melbourne...
  20. eh, what i was told :upurs: . though, you'd probably end up going for a powerfc in any case. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=54983 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=58050 general comment, is that rb25 is better platform to start with, in terms of mods. and tends to be a lot more drivable due to better low end torque (and variable valve control). As mentioned, max power on an rb20 is roughlt 250kw. you can get 300-350kw from an rb25. Don't know of anyone that has done an RB26DETT conversion, but there is an rb26 r32 gts-t for sale on prestige at the moment, so it's possible.
  21. reason is - you have a vacuum line coming from the engine bay into the cabin, which is bad, coz if it leaks or falls off, you get an emission from engine into the cabin. the other rule on gauges, is can't be mounted above the top of the dash. but it probably varies from state to state.
  22. manual front cut from www.justjap.com is $5000. can't comment on whether the gearbox will cope, but there have been a few articles hovering around on the forum (do a search) on the rb25 conversion, and there seems to be mixed opinions on whether to use the 32 gearbox or 33 gearbox. the 33 gearbox needs minor modification to bolt up to the r32 rear end i believe. You use the ecu from the rb25, it's ok to use the automatic, the only difference is that it will rev slightly higher on idle, and revs will drop when you put foot on clutch (same as what happens on an automatic when you go from park to drive). The most difficult part is wiring up the ECU's, everything else is a bolt in. i'm plannign on doing this myself as soon as I get my hands on the neo front cut my friend has.
  23. budgeted for having it on the road for $10k, and it's gonna be about that, coz gotta make a few changes to car to get it rego'd., usual deal (btw, if anyone in melb can lend me a stock exhaust for rego...pm me). i'm curious to see what everyone else is paying for shipping & customs etc.etc.
  24. Exhaust is too loud, neighbors are complaining... does anyone have a resonator for a 3.5inch exhaust system? Car is a R32 GTS-t 4 dr. located in Melbourne. PM me if you have one. Cheers, Tim
