http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=54051 cut wire 53 on ECU to disable speed limiter, however speedo will only read 180km/hr (unelss u have an aftermarket one)
-
well, it depends on how much work you can do yourself. an r33 auto front cut. from justjap.com $3,500 installing engine is a simple bolt-in. only thing you need to do is rewire the loom. Not sure what a workshop will charge, but go to a couple of performance shops in your area and ask for a rough quote. It's probably a days work if they know what the'yre doing. you can probably get the front cut cheaper than that if you look around a bit, and you will gain some money sellign the rb20det (u could probably get around $800-1000 for it) and selling the auto rb25 box. Then u can flog the panels, dash, brakes, suspension, headlights, cooler and other stuff from the rb25 front cut

Pods give an iduction note better than airbox?
MerlinTheHapyPig replied to RB_26's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
switching to a pod will give u a louder induction sound, hks foam filters work pretty well for this. Using a shield around them, might negate this though. most people don't bother with ducting as it wont really effect intake temps/airflow a whole heap. (sorry, couldn't resist, your sig bought it on....) -
well, a HKS GT-2530 turbo is a fairly common upgrade. you can get piping kits, there was a complete turbo & piping kit for sale on yahoo japan auctions a couple of weeks ago, but it's finished... before you start going turbo, fuel pump, injectors, ecu. etc. think about if you are going to do an RB25DET conversion in the future, coz if you do change to a rb25, that money will be wasted, as most of the stuff wont be compatible.

i do, but it aint pretty, wait till i get the car resprayed!!!

I posted a few pages back, going over my costs to date: here they are: $4000 Cost of Car (315000 yen) $ 200 Port Transfer Within Japan $1018 Shipping Japan->Brizzy $1186 Customs Duty & GST $ 308 Transport to Melbourne $ 660 Customs Fees, Quarantine charges, Other random fees etc. --------- $7372 ===== dunno the deal with shipping, but yeah, j-spec organised it. The only delay i had was it was stuck in brisbane for a while over x-mas. seaway was the shipping company, j-spec organised everything else.

mmm, that car is soooo sweeet... if i hadn't bought my car already, i'd get that one. the only thing i'd find out about first is if you will have to engineer the engine swap in order to register it. if you wanted to build up an RB26DETT like that yourself it would cost heaps You would be paying about $2-3k more than a stock 2dr r32 manual gts-t if you wanted to do all that work yourself, as a conservative estimate rb26det front cut $7500 (including brakes, cooler etc.) install engine etc. $1,000 (just a guess) 18" alloys $1,500 coilovers $800 exhaust, cage, gauges, radiator, bride etc. easy $3,000 so that's about $14k on top of purchase price...... no farking sh1t it's worth it!

does anyone have anything positive to say about power road car sales?? coz everything i hear on several forums, is bad, they must be doing something wrong over there...

Need to mount the turbo timer...
MerlinTheHapyPig replied to heiress's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
going back to making it easier to steal... it'll make it easier to start the ignition, but the steering wheel lock will still be on. once you rip off the surround of the lock, on most cars the ignition part of the lock will turn without the key, the barrel of the lock is hooked up to the steering wheel lock. i doubt most theives would bother as once the steering wheel surround is removed, all u have to do to start the car is turn the little switch thing that the key goes into. This is how it was on a car i used to own, not sure if it's the same on 'lines -
hmm, teach her how to drive manual...

if everyone hates 2f2f so much, why does everyone keep talking about it?? i think someone already mentioned that nitrous purge is actually used and wasn't just invented for a cool movie effect -
4 doors tend to be cheaper, as are automatics. but for a turbo, manual 2 door, expect to pay $12-15k+ the 4 door r32 gts-t manual i just imported has so far cost me $8k (landed ie before compliance), engine is in pristine condition, but needs a respray.

lol @ this thread i've had my skyline for 2 days and it's already been confused with a magna (i actually own one, and the dude was like "why did u buy another magna" - it's a 4 door with spoiler removed, so i gave them a break coz they were looking at it side-on) i've been getting dirty looks from people driving down the street. and had some filthy looking aussie shout at me "get some cubes..." or some sh1t like that..... ahh, the life of a skyline owner! -
Import Thieving
MerlinTheHapyPig replied to blacky's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
i wasn't too worried about my car, as it didn't have a stereo and only one aftermarket gauge. I actually found a turbo timer in the glove box which had been removed from the car, so i guess the fact that it hadn't been nicked says something. If you're worried about stereo etc, perhaps get them to remove the face-plate and mail separately, or put it in a hard to find place on the car (such as in spare wheel well) I wouldn't recommend shipping the car with car parts in the boot (ie to aviod import duty) -
Show us your engine bay thread!
MerlinTheHapyPig replied to RB30-POWER's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i would probably suggest keep the timing belt cover (unlike some of the above pics), unless it's track only. u don't wanna get a rock or something stuck in your timing belt! that could be bad :-( -
good stuff, will have to remember the pedders thing. tru-fit are a good exhaust place - i've used them before and my dad knows the guy there, glad to hear they sorted you out, i'll have to do the same thing shortly, at least i know it won't cost me an arm and a leg hmm, knox shopping centre. you didn't happen to be pulled over by a silver xr6 by any chance?? Officer Petitte?
