  1. I was there yesterday afternoon for a memorial service. As we were leaving about 5.30pm we saw it. I assume he is trying to takje it home. The front windscreen washed to the shithouse. There was a guy sitting in the passenger seat (and yes he was moving). We took these photos but did not want to get to close. GTR BOY - it looks like he did it to himself and maybe he is a little worse for wear. It would be nice if he is on here to let us know how it happened and if he is OK.

The question is: Did you squeal like a girl???? ROFL
  3. That sounds interesting. Do you have pics and specs etc.?
  4. Along the lines i was trying to say, but maybe i was a bit blunt and my apologies for that. The advice given here has been great and is useful. You can have great fun at sprint level with a basic (standardish) performance car like the Skyline etc. I did the WA CAMS Speed Event Series about 4 years ago and was able to win my class (over 5,000cc road reg) with basic mods to a R33. Today to win my class i am up against thisngs like Targa prepared V8 Commodore Utes etc. The SES is a learnig ground that IMO allows you learn gradually and make modifications as you go. Knowing this i have recently purchased another R33 and will build it slowly over a 4 or 5 year period. I may never do IPRAWA or SCRWA or Targe West but knowing that i could with the right changes is worth the flexibility. Having said that then i would propbably get a Escort again. 4 Years ago 20% of the cars in SES were running sticky tyres, now 90% run sticky tyres.
  5. I think people are pushing there own agendas or budgets. He has stated several times above that he is interested in entry (absolute grass roots) level motorsport that is affordable with what he has got. He also has stated that his driving experience is limited. Therefore he would like to take it all in baby steps. I back you up R33_Dude. I am doing the same. It is not about winning or door to door serious racing (IPRAWA is serious business at the front) it is about the build, fun and the social side of it.
  6. why not this one as an example http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/19...be-t253424.html already has R32 GTR brakes, more than enough power for fun etc. I am doing the same here in WA. I just picked up a registered R33 sub $10k and will take my time to get all the best bits. I bought in Dec and already had a track day at barbagallo raceway. Was one of the slowest cars on the day but was great fun, even the 2 spin outs. Project Mu brake pads $200 brake fluid change $100 Oil Change $80 Fire extinguisher $28 away we went, the first time i did this in a R33 was back in 2004 and it was my daily driver, bilstein shocks and king springs with a marginal reduction in ride height a slight boost upgrade and it was weapon. It won it's class in the speed event series over here that year. Over 4,000cc road reg. so it kicked all the V8's back then. Now the V8's all run superchargers on 6.2 litres to beat the skylines. Cage wise you can put in a half cage and change the rego of the car to a 2 seater. A full cage in WA is legal as long as the front half is removeable. if it is just for fun, get the car do some maintenance and work up to all the good bits. change 1 thing at a time and learn the car and have fun.
  7. I am surprised the banks did not tell you to get a credit card for that amount. The current credit crisis would not be helping at all atm!!
  8. I have just put the HR Series into my '95 R33. I have done one track day at barbagallo (WA) and found the base setting to be way too stiff in the rear. they feel really good but are way to hard for the road. I am going back to the track in 2 weeks for a tuning day and we will try tuning it in better. I am looking forward to better times once we fine tune it a bit better. back ground is that this car is registered but will only be used for track days. If you were mostly using your car for the road then i would go for the HS Series.

People forget that in the end someone always foots the bill. Not now but down the track when insurance policies and taxes increase!! Right on Hoony.
  11. Hicas was designed to be a sort of 4 wheel steer. Great for parking, BUT if you are on the track it will try to correct your opposite lock until you spin off trying to correct being corrected and so on Ditch it only if you put a locker bar in, just in case you hit a kerb and knock the wheel out of alignment.
  12. Who gives a f**k what car it was. Stupidity and inexperirnce is the cause. Too many think that they own the roads in WA. People, learn repect for yourself and others. once you achieve this then will you learn that the roads are there to get us from point a to b. We have plenty of options to do motorsport at low cost here that i there is no excuse for speeding or other things that are mentioned on these forums to take place on public roads. To drivers and passengers, stop balming everyone else and take responsibility for yourself and say no or slow down or stop. Peer group pressure to not being a dick head is just as powerful. I feel for the family and friends that have to pick up the pieces and pay the price.
  13. I am about to build a new R33 GTS-T for circuit use only. A loit more serious than i have in the past and will include complete strip out, Breg, comprehensive cage etc. In the past (2003) i won my class (over 4,000cc road reg) in the WA Speed Event series in a R33 GTS-T. 9 trophies for 9 events in 2003 and some others that we collected along the way. This was my daily driver road car as well. All we did was put in a fire extinguisher, harness (only for the Track), king springs and bilstein shocks 25mm lower front and 28mm lower rear. increased boost to 13psi (note standard intercooler used), K&N filter, sticky bridgestone tyres on standard rims, un plugged HICAS on track days. This car was dynoed at 297hp at rear wheels and was not the fastest, but often featured in the top 15 outright and embarressed $80k V8's. One thing we did find out much later with this car was that it had a R33 GTR standard computer in place of the GTS-t one. We have wondered with out proof or research if this helped improved performance!!! Forgot to add that we also had a turbo back custom 3" exhaust with hi flow cat.
  14. Try Custom exhaust in Osborne Park. I crunched my cat back on a kerb and they did a cash job for about $1k for a full fabricated 3" turbo back. Nice bunch of guys as well. They will be getting my custom exhaust for my race car (non turbo)
  15. I would like to see a Ferrairi with a Windsor in it. It might do the 1/4 mile in forty secs with a windsor in it. quicker than standard. I am sure there is a few WRX's out there that may be a bit bruised after meeting this thing on the street.
  16. I was just up at Barbagallo raceway having a look at the HSV day. I saw this white R33 GTS-T (i thought). I waited until he went out on the track and spotted twin pipes at the rear. Then he layed into it and i thought this sounds odd. He came around and nailed down the front straight. I just stood there mouth open and said SHIT. No blow offs, nor turbo whine nothing. went into the pits and there it was dare i say it. a 5.7 litre V8 in a R33. Has anyone heard about this car before, it was road reg but i can't remember the plates. Also interested in peoples thoughts on this conversion
