Before anyone flames me I've done a search but can't find a definitive thread. Just bought my car and as I don't know state of fluids I want to change them all, hope you gurus can help. Car: 2002 M35 250t, VQ25DET, 82 000kms Engine Oil: 5W-40, fully synthetic of course, this thickness okay? Transmission fluid: Nulon Multi-vehicle 100% Synthetic trans fluid? Differentials: Nulon 100% as above? Someone said it works for everything... Attessa (4wd system/Centre diff???): Nulon 100% as above? Someone said it works for everything... Brakes: Super Dot 4 Radiator: Nulon red coolant??? Power steering: Regular power steering fluid? Any fluids I've missed??? Thanks in advance

Remote Central Locking Not Working.
180Shauny replied to STAG123's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Well that's great mate. But I would urge any M35 owners who don't have an immobiliser to check their insurance policies carefully. I know JustCar states you must have an Aust Standards immobiliser fitted to be covered for theft. -
Remote Central Locking Not Working.
180Shauny replied to STAG123's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Just bought my M35 and remote not working. I took it to Performance Car Audio in Bayswater and had a Cyclops alarm/immobiliser fitted (need it for insurance) and he hooked the remotes up to the car central locking. So now I have a remote and don't need to use the factory key buttons. Highly advantageous because the remotes are cheap and you can cut a steel key. PCA are the bomb, Brett worked on my car till 8pm Saturday night to finish it. -
Not really part of your group but how about a Baw Baw run, I can see how the MR2 measures up...

Just got off my arse and found a previous thread with good feedback. Would still apprreciate thoughts on the car http://carsales.mobi/cars/details/?R=11078545

Hey again guys, I'm looking at another Stag in Dandenong from Power Road Car Sales. Has anyone got experience with them? The bloke seemed fairly straight shooting and knew most of what he was talking about. Huge yard full of imports. Its a 2002 M35 with 82k kms on the clock ran very smoothly and he's asking $15990 drive away inc 12 months rego. What do you guys think? Will test drive and get it on a hoist for full inspection next week.
-
I think if you budget $2k for someone to do it all in one hit, again I'm no expert on the particulars of this car but I would think it would only cost $1k on a normal car.
-
I'm obviuosly no Stag expert, but know a bit about cars. If one belt is gone, odds are others are in similar shape and once you get to the belts you may as well do them all. Rocker cover gasket is easy to fix but takes time to pull the cover off if there is intake, etc sitting on it. Belt squeals are generally just a tighten up but as mentioned, replace them all together. Do you mean rear main seal? They are usually a pain.... Brake pads about $150 a set for decent ones from experience. Maybe one of the other guys can give time estimates? Good luck....if you don't want the car PM me the details if its in Melbourne....
-
So funny thing I started asking about service books, derego cert and compliance details....the car magically sold to "one of his regulars".... Thanks so much for all your help guys, I now know a lot of what I should be checking for. The hunt goes on!

Great advice thanks again, will go and get behind the wheel of a few cars. Incidentally my Dad's Camry lets you use the power windows for 40sec after ignition goes off so not sure where that fits with AusStds Will of course go through all the normal checks for buying a second hand car too. The car radio was tuned in and receiving Australian stations so I assume the expander is there.

Hey PN-Mad, square tips, wouldn't surprise me if he'd already fitted the front and dump pipes. O2 sensor is an easy on older Nissans, is that the case here? Car is not complied right now, he only received it the day before, that's why the snow tyres were on. Agreed will be very careful.
-
Can anyone help with the queries I posted on page 1?
-
Nope, will keep it under my hat for now if that's okay.
-
Slippy I didn't even know that existed, great tip thank you mate.

Appreciate your thoughts guys, the price does seem very good, bear in mind it does not include rego and RWC. This guy is a smaller importer but seemed fairly straight about things, the car will be getting a full mechanical inspection on a hoist before I lay out any cash for a deposit. One other thing he mentioned was that for models with the in dash screen, the computers have been known to fail, taking the whole dash with them. Anyone had experience like that?

I'm back with some further queries, been looking at a Stagea from an importer this morning. Couldn't drive as it wasn't complied but did start it up. 1) Has a Nismo cold air intake and what appears to be full Nismo exhaust, is this just extra bling or adds some serious horsepower? 2) Fumes coming out the exhaust were extremely potent, similar to what I had in my old 180SX, is this normal? Could it be a lack of cat's or a sign the car is running stupidly rich? 3) Had an aftermarket screen and dvd installed, there was a gaping hole in the upper passenger glove box, I believe it's single DIN and holds something in the ARX models? 4) Stock rims were, I think, 215/55/R17 can anyone confirm so I can price some rubber? Will any other sizes fit? 5) Seemed fairly clear of rust, gonna put it on a hoist next week, only rust I could find was the top stud of the suspension where it pokes up into engine bay so that should be replaceable. Car does have snow tyres fitted though. 6) Car is a 2003 model, which means in Victoria it should be covered by 3 month statutory warranty right? 7) Fitted with a Pioneer Carrozzeria system, seems very complete, anyone know about translating these? They're asking $11500 complied, seems pretty reasonable to me, its an RS with 84000kms, paint and panels seem clean. Thoughts and comments appreciated...

One further question I haven't really found an answer to. Were there many changes in the vehicle from year to year? Obviously the engine change in 04-05 but any other minor updates?
-
Thanks guys that's really good. I accept that when I get enthusiastic it's going to slurp a lot of fuel. Regarding towing, from what I've read in other threads, heavy duty towing is possible so long as the bar is attached to the chassis rails rather than the subframe. Any comment? Also it would be towing that weight maybe 5 times a year, I figure extremely gentle driving should give a further safety measure.....

Hey guys, as the topic says I'm looking to buy an M35 Stag. Primary reasons to buy it are practicality (I drive an MR2), comfort, performance and towing ability (need to tow the MR2 to track). After any general feedback you guys have about common traps to look for when buying them? Also the biggest failing I see at the moment is a lack of cruise control, but seems to be many kits to fit it, any recommendations? Fuel economy seems reasonable given size and engine, is that fair to say? Does anyone have figures for highway fuel consumption? I drive Sydney to Melb a lot. Thanks in advance, Shaun

due to severe toolishness on my part, i won't actually be here on the nite, so I've moved it to the 25th of January (public holiday next day) all other details are the same
-
hey guys I'm moving the cruise to thrusday 25th of January, due to clashes with the InTuneAuto tsunami appeal and other events, I think we'd be better off going and donating some cash that night.
-
Hey guys I'm organising a twisties cruise for the 25th *edit* of January (Saturday night), should be moderately long, my 180 burned about a third of a tank of fuel when I ran it out at moderate pace. There's gonna be two meet points but to avoid the attention of our good friends at T M U I'm not posting any details, pm me and I'll send them to you. All cars are welcome
