  1. PM sent.
  2. lol, I read the original post & thought; 'even for rwkw that's pretty damn high, wtf?' Either way, it's a reasonable figure for stock management, and makes me pretty happy with the numbers I'm getting, considering that my exhaust is stock from the cat back & I'm only running an S2 intercooler (but plan on mounting up my old AiResearch FMIC once I get the spigots upsized from 2" to 2.25") I have only one suggestion: Do what Steve says and get some extra management / boost controlling happening. Then you'll be getting some real bang-for-buck.
  3. I had a quarantine check inspector have a hell of a time with the tailgate in our S1 - he 1/2 closed it, then opened it when it was self closing, then tried to close it when the motor was still running. I ended up suggesting that I could close it for him so he could move on to the car behind us They are a top piece of kit, and welcome to the family!
  4. I'm beginning to think that there should have been a recall on these turbocharger units - the do seem to be failing in increasing numbers... As much as a hi-flow can be great for the power output, it's not too flash on the hip-pocket when the car has done pretty low mileage.
  5. Piccies?
  6. Danny - check your intake piping, you'll be pissed if you start pulling everything apart expecting a turbo fault & discover a loose hose clamp, or split pipe... WRT to the RB OE turbo at 15psi - not very bloody long. But it's not designed to, whereas the M35's is (theoretically...) Yes, I wish I had a chain I was brought up on the L/FJ series, and the double-row chains are a 'good thing'! (don't get me started on the SR timing gear - the Nissan engineers were having an off-day when they designed that one)
  7. There are rules regarding FS - you should read them, or risk the moderators' wrath. Do you have any photos you can post? The DAYZ cars could have been fitted with a heap of goodies, or they could have nothing more than a sticker.
  8. Would this have been on a car transporter a couple of weeks ago sporting NSW rego? I spotted an S2 DAYZ on a truck heading south on Heaslip road a few weeks ago. Neat ride. *EDIT* Just noticed that it still has NSW rego in the photo
  9. Hey, with that car you could simply drive under 5000rpm and it wouldn't have turbo boost anyway! And $32k for a p-plate car - you know you will bend it? It's inevitable...
  10. The SC14 (1G-GZE) will be working mighty hard on an RB30, and they are getting quite rare anyway. I suggest you do a little more research on your project before spending too much cash. On a standard CR engine you won't be able to run much boost, and generally the supercharger kits aren't designed for intercooling. This will limit you even more. I spend much time debating super vs. turbo on my Z, and the turbo route was just a smarter choice at the end of the day. The turbo was fitted to the Z in '97 and now I wouldn't own a car without one. (yes, even if I had big iron, it would still get a snail or two)
  11. If you're serious about using an OEM RB30 bottom end, try to get one from an R31 rather than a VL (the VL had a habit of cooking heads - and the block could have suffered). Further to that, get hold of one that already has the turbo oil feed/return fittings in the block (with blanking plugs). This would be ~1988 vintage - our '86 VL only had unfinished casting bosses for this, so it would have needed drilling & tapping if we were to turbocharge it. Shipping engines around the world is no biggie - they are much smaller than plenty of other things that are shipped everyday in their millions.
  12. A little kerosene in warm water is a good solvent, or some isopropanol wipes are a good option. CBC also have sell industrial cleaning wipes which worked wonders at removing the rusty water stains from all over the engine bay on our 1200 ute - they are a general purpose cleaner that can be used on various surfaces and also your skin.
  13. Hi Les, Good to see another one of the original and the best - S1 RSFV (you have to watch the M35 guys around here - they are trying to take over the world)
  14. I've only recently bought a small pot of touch-up and one pressure pack (with clearcoat mixed in) from Lonsdale Paint Supplies. I just asked for some KR4 Sonic Silver & a day later it was ready.
  15. Sorry, I may not have explained properly; KR4 (Sonic Silver) is the correct colour for the C34. BUT There is another Sonic Silver used in later model cars that is not correct (I don't know the code offhand).
  16. Just a quick gotcha - Sonic silver (not the actual code 'KR4', but the name of the colour) is used post 2002, but is a different tint. Be sure to use the code & the name when obtaining paint.
  17. lol, I still thought there was going to be preaching when I opened this thread
  18. If you're chasing that last few HP, then the way to go would be to machine the actual butterfly & shaft to remove any protrusions. i.e. machine the edge of the butterfly to a fine edge, clean up the screw heads & shafts and smooth the transition when the butterfly mounts to the shaft. Having said all that, the kind of mods I've just listed would be something you'd do when stuck with specific parts that were too small, but were homologated and therefore mandatory. There's no way I'd be even considering such bollocks on a street car - especially a turbo where you could increase the boost by a fraction of a psi & overcome the 'restriction' anyway.
  19. I got caught out on the same thing - doing the diags during the day fixed that little issue...
  20. Just enter 'R31' in the 'Model Series' field & take it from there.
  21. I've just checked my S1, and I get the same behaviour in 'mode 5', but the temp reading is changeable from 0-3 in both clockwise & anti-clockwise rotation of the temperature controller. I'll have a look in my C34 workshop manuals to see if I can get some insight as to what's actually going on.
  22. I wondered what that was on my S1... For curiosity's sake I might have to run the diags on my climate control to see if it's working properly (assuming it's part of that system of tests)...
  23. Guess who woke up late... Good turnout though.
