Nulon Nationals Round 1 Motorkhana 16th January
david.r34.gtt replied to crashdown's topic in New South Wales
FWIW, this was my take on Big Eyes, complete with a stuff up near the end. It was the most fun of the motorkhana tests for me. https://youtu.be/cij-eayxV-c Unfortunately I wasn't driving my Skyline, nor on the SAU team. Sorry about that :-) -

There, I fixed that for you. My good deed for the day. You're welcome :-) BTW, probably worth mentioning your location, .... and getting yours Caps-Lock key fixed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Nissan Stagea RS-4 Turbo AWD Wagon. White pearl paint. RB25DET Skyline engine. Plenty of power & life in this engine! Auto trans with paddle shift on the steering wheel. Tinted power windows, electric mirrors, power steering. leather interior. etc These are amazing cars with so many features!! Nice paint & straight body. Interior is in very good condition. 17" wheels with new 235/45/17 tyres. Flip down CD with 4 channel amp & 12" sub-woofer. Engine immobiliser New CVs (front) New brakes New rocker cover gaskets & complete seal kit done on oil cooling system. This is now a rare leak free RB25DET! No rust under mirrors! Thousands spent!! This was my project but I have too many, and not enough money, so have to let this one go. Wife's orders Comes with roadworthy certificate, ready to take down and register. Probably worth mentioning the colour(s) of the exterior panels and parts. If the mirrors are white I am interested. -

Would You Consider A Yellow R34 Gtr?
david.r34.gtt replied to JRelle's topic in General Automotive Discussion
If you need to economise on a vehicle history report, then maybe a $45k 15'ish year old car is not really the right one for you? -
I am looking for some inexpensive wheels to put on the back of my R34 GTT when doing what the kids today call "skidz", to avoid destroying my good tyres. So ideally I need 2 wheels, around 18 x 8.5 or similar so they can take 235/40/18 tyres, and with a suitable offset and spoke design so that they will fit on the back of an R34 GTT. If they come with tyres that at least hold air, that would be a bonus. If I need to buy a set of 4, that is ok, as long as they will also fit on the front. Cosmetics are not important, but they must not be structurally damaged. Does anyone in or around Sydney have anything suitable to sell please?

Mmmmm, looking at the list of cars in your sig, I suspect a spinning propeller is on the front of the unfortunate vehicle. I hope you can get it sorted.

Skyline R33 To Turbo Conversion!
david.r34.gtt replied to Ogun Dullak's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
There is a lot cynicism in this forum on the topic of N/A power-ups, probably due to the number of young(ish) guys who have just bought an N/A Skyline and then come on this forum looking for a cheap power-up. They nearly always seem to think there is a magic solution that we all know but have chosen to keep secret. Sadly, there is no magic :-( My axiom when it comes to modifying cars, learned through hard experience is: Performance, reliable, inexpensive ... pick any one-and-a-half. It is best to gather enough resources (ie knowledge, experience, parts/money) to do it once and do it right. Any other way will lead to much sadness. Curb your natural enthusiasm, enjoy what you have got, and research the possible mods to make it better.. One day you too will have a mega Skyline like the rest of us, which makes your friends envious and which gets your girlfriend/boyfriend/farm-animal all hot and bothered (hey, I'm not judging), and life will be good. Dinks! -
My little MX-5 race car. So much fun! Not much power, but it still gets around Wakefield Park in under 1:10.

I'll take it, with pick up from Ryde as I work nearby. Please PM details so we can arrange pickup.

Swap: R34 Gt/gtt Bonnet
david.r34.gtt posted a topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I bought a white R34 GTT a few months ago. The bonnet had been carbon wrapped by the previous owner, and I hoped that I might come to like it over time, but I haven't. Rather than having to remove the wrap and clean up the adhesive on the bonnet, plus. not knowing what is under the wrap, it would be easier for me to just swap with someone else who has a white R34 GT/GTT who would like a carbon wrapped bonnet. I am in Sydney, and can travel anywhere between Wollongong and Newcastle. David -
Withdrawn from the EOI please

Thanks Kinstaah. Too much mucking around and compromise for me, having to use the S15 stucks and axles. Being slightly OCD, I would forever be concerned about breaking them. So I have decided to just go with a Nismo 1.5 Way and put up with the less than ideal on-road characteristics. Thanks everyone for your great feedback

Thanks for the feedback "GTSBoy" When you say "The helical centres need one of the shafts to be a different length to those used in the viscous diffs", are you saying a) the 5-bolt and 6-bolt stub axles are the same length, but that the helical centre is a different length to the viscous centre, so one of the stub axles will be offset in the diff housing, and so the drive shaft on that side also needs to be a different length, or b) the stub axles are a different length, and then because you have to use the 6-bolt stub axles you then need the matching axles? Either way, my plan is stuffed without using the 6-bolt drive shafts. My S15 diff includes the stub axles. Anyone want to buy an S15 diff? :-)

Thanks for confirming that the S15 helical can work in the R34 diff. I have a helical (aka torsen) diff in another car, and have been very happy with it's performance, although that car does produce a lot less power than a GTT Skyline. My experience is that the sort of problem you describe with the inside wheel spinning usually happens when the suspension allows that wheel to unload. With appropriate sway bars and springs, that should not happen.
