  1. I can't do it right now since I just got my R32 and I'm still adding more stuff to my R35 but I did give it some thought. I've joked with my brother who lives in Adelaide that he should find me a good R34 GT-R over there. I'll pay for it and let him drive it as long as he keeps it in good nick until I can import it lol. Of course, that also depends on what Nissan plans with the R36 since I'm gonna want one probably
  2. Thanks for the info. I'll have to pull off the Momo wheel when I get a chance and see what's up. I saw that auction when I did a quick search on another Yahoo auction search site. I wish it had pics that were more close-up cause it seems to have a lot of bent fins.
  3. Okay, thanks for the info. So from what you're saying it sounds like there's only two major OEM pieces I need to source and the rest can be aftermarket. Time to do some googling then
  4. Thanks for the info. So with the R34 IC (if that's what I can find), that air temp bung can be closed off for use on the R32 and no other modifications needed? Just want to make sure I understand correctly.
  5. The Nismo wheel I have is identical to this one (only with the leather in better shape): The Momo that's on right now is identical to this one: They both have a six bolt pattern but I was told that the boss kit I have wouldn't work because the orientation is different - the Momo has the top screw at 12 o'clock while the Nismo has two top screws at 11 and 1'oclock. Sorry but I don't know nearly enough about aftermarket wheels and boss kits to say otherwise so I'd appreciate the correction if I was told the wrong thing.
  6. I don't know if you're being a smarta$$ or you just poorly worded your response. I'll be kind and assume the latter, although it sounds like you've succeeded in making other people conclude the former. Your question was whether Nismo still built Z-tunes and I answered no with the inclusion of what they could build you at this time. I never claimed to say the Clubman was as amazing as the Z-tune, just that it has features that are improved over that car - uprated brakes, dry carbon pieces, etc. that the Z-tune didn't have. If you know your RBs then you'd know the extra power and displacement would be easy to fix especially if you have the money to order one from Nismo in the first place...but you don't, so I think you need to sound less facetious when you reply to people who are helping you to satisfy your curiosity. You'd think someone who has a business would at least know that much.
  7. Sounds like I have to hit up Yahoo auctions then. Thanks. As for the wheel, I do need a new boss kit for it. My car has a Momo wheel on it and I was told the kit it uses won't work with the Nismo because the bolt pattern is different. I'm okay with a non-Nismo made boss kit like a Works Bell or NRG though. You wouldn't happen to have suggestions on which kits from either of those companies would work with a Nismo wheel by any chance or any suggestions on other brands to consider? I've done some research on it but haven't settled on a firm answer since I've been more occupied with sussing out parts for needed maintenance and repainting of my car. I'm hoping to put it in for respray in July and after that restore the interior so the wheel situation has been on the back burner for now.
  8. That's what I was thinking I could do but in that engine bay pic, how much of that piping is OEM and how much is aftermarket? That engine bay pic you showed is a better representation of what I'd like my intake setuo to look like actually. Since my car came with the HKS kit already intalled I have little idea how many pieces were removed in the process though. I tried looking at parts diagrams on JP Carparts to see what was needed but the diagrams seem completely different from what I expected to see. Maybe I'm just too mechanically inept to suss them out lol. I'd probably have to buy the parts and resell my HKS kit later since R32s are still rare here in the US so finding a swap candidate won't be easy. I know where to get a different aftermarket intake kit but the OEM bits are what I'm finding hard to get a handle on.
  9. Pardon me please if this is in the wrong section but I was hoping someone could give me advice. I have Nismo R32 GT-R #167 and I'm in the process of fixing her back up to her former glory. To that end I plan on adding several Nismo parts. I already have a Nismo clutch going in to replace the heavy-ass one already in the car and upgraded Nismo engine and gearbox mounts. The place I bought the car from gave me a period-correct Nismo wheel to slap on. I got a Nismo 320kph speedo off eBay. Eventually I want to get some other bits like a Nismo gear knob, seat covers, etc. One thing that eludes me though since AFAIK it's been discontinued is a Nismo intercooler. Since my R32 is an authentic Nismo GT-R I think it would be great to have a Nismo logo proudly showing on the front but where could I get one? All the shops I've cheked online just have it listed as discontinued. Anyone know of anyone who wants to part with one? Any chance Yahoo auctions or another similar site might have one? Any leads would be greatly appreciated. If I can't find one it's not the end of the world for me. I'll probably go with a Blitz intercooler or similar in that case but it sure would be cool to have an authentic Nismo IC for my authentic Nismo GT-R Oh,and is the R32 intercooler unique from the R33 and R34 or were they all the same, just differing in piping? Thanks in advance for your help.
  10. My R32 currently has an HKS intake kit but I kind of like the look of the OEM pipe that has the "Twin Turbo" logo on it. Right now my engine bay looks like this: I was planning on sprucing it up in the future once I get the car resprayed by replacing the previous owner's blue color scheme with black together with some CF and silver pieces for contrast. So I was thinking of taking off the HKS piping and having it powdercoated in black later on. On the other hand I've seen pics of cars with the stock piping and an Apexi intake setup and kind of like the look of it - like in this pic: I'm pretty settled on my future engine dress-up plan - black cam covers, CF coil and timing belt covers, Cusco ALC CF/aluminum strut bar, replace the cheap-looking catch can hoses with braided lines, replace the blue radiator with a new Koyorad (already being done as we speak), and replace the blue intake manifold with a Nismo one. The part I'm waffling on is the intake piping. I think powdercoating the HKS pipes I have in black would look really spiffy but at the same time I like the look of that proud "Twin Turbo" badge the OEM pipe has. Yeah I know that's a shallow reason to like it (it's really just the badge I like since it clearly shows the fact the engine is turboed - people ask me whether it is or not all the time lol) and I'd probably be going backward to do it but I had to at least entertain the option. I know I'd have to source the OEM piping from somwhere (not so easy here in the US) and I'm not even sure yet how many parts that would entail so it sounds like more trouble than it's really worth. What do you guys think, am I stupid for even debatiing this lol? Maybe I should just see how to stick a "Twin Turbo" badge on the powdercoated HKS piping lol?
  11. I don't think they would since the Z-tune was supposed to be a limited 20th anniversary model (hence why only 20 were built) BUT you can get a Clubman Race Spec built which actually has improved parts over the Z-tune. http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/09/gtr-for-the-street-and-track-by-nismo/
  12. My reasoning would be that four rubber caps weigh and cost a lot less than welding/bondo-ing and repainting the area for a proper shaved look - plus it's reversible if the car were ever to be revamped for road course duties. The other option, replacing them with lightweight race mirrors, is pointless if it stays a drag car. There's also the ever popular reason of simply "because racecar" - not everything has to be done to be the most aesthetically pleasing on a race vehicle. Heck, some people really dig that ghetto $hit - the riveted overfenders on Liberty Walk and RWB cars are just one example Of course, if it were me, I'd have fabricated some snazzy carbon fiber blanking plates to cover that part - the same method that's used for sportbikes at trackdays.
  13. That's the spot where one of the side mirrors used to be. The three outer holes are where the bolts were and the middle one is for the harness wire.
  14. I might do that lol. Awesome to see a big fan of these cars that has your lengthy experience I'm probably going to be on the lookout for a 2000 R34 though - since my R32 is a 1990 and my R35 is a 2010 it'll make for nice symmetry lol.
  15. Sounds like they're worth checking out then. I still need some more parts for my car so I'll have to give them a try with my next batch of orders.
  16. Drool.... That's exactly the kind of R34 I'd want in 9 years or so when they become legal here in the States. Black and relatively stock looking. Stupid 25-year import rule
  17. If you gave him a decent chance to notice the green on his own before honking and gave him a normal beep to get his attention instead of an obnoxious laying on the horn then yeah, F that guy. I would have done the same thing.
  18. Thanks for the tip. I checked out their website a bit - looks like a better setup than Amayama or JPCarparts for browsing. How are they as far as shipping? Quick or kind of slow? RHDJapan takes about 3 days to process an order in my experience while Amayama and JP take about 5 before shipping out. I'm alway's looking for more possible parts sources since it seems some parts I can get from one shop but not another at times.
  19. RHDJapan is Osaka based but seem to be owned by a pair of Brits or Aussies based on the names I've seen on my invoices. There's a company called RightDriveUSA here in the US that's an affiliate of a Canadian importer and parts seller but they only sell cars in the US. RHDJapan is my favorite Japanese parts source so far - great prices and super fast shipping but their OEM part selection is more limited than Amayama or JP Carparts. Got a stonking deal on my Nismo Coppermix twin-plate from them though lol.
  20. It's the black strip just above the doors: http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog/genuine-nissan-pitwork-moulding-outer-door-rhs-nissan-skyline-r32-gtr-gts-gts25-gts4-gtst-door-coupe-p-1693.html Amazingly Amayama said they were backordered with no expected date of availability. RHDJapan said October. I'm planning on putting my car in for a full respray next month so October (maybe) was too long to wait lol.
  21. Lucky you for getting that part lol. I've been searching high and low for parts to restore my Nismo as well so I can relate to the search. Ironically you guys in Australia seem to have a decent stockpile of certain parts - I just placed my third order with Kudos Motorsports, this time for the outer door moldings (the ones below the side glass) after both Amayama and RHDJapan said they were backordered with either no expected date of availability or not until October! I would have thought the motherland would be more likely to have parts but maybe the supply is drying up and us Americans could be at fault with all the new old R32s were buying lol.
  22. That first quote about 1500 combined hp from a 3 liter V6 and KERS is talking about the drivetrain on the Nismo GT-R LM race car, not the R36 so that 1500 number is legit - that's typical peak power output from the type of twin-turbo petrol V6 and Torotrak flywheel KERS the LM is running. That number is peak combined power though and not sustained hp which will be closer to 700 hp from the V6 alone. The article is basically just rehashing the old rumors that have been flying around for a long time now that the next-gen GT-R will be a hybrid with styling cues from the Vision GT concept - you don't exactly have to be prophetic or an insider to draw obvious conclusions like that.
  23. Thanks! Weird seeing the Nissan logo instead of the S lol.
  24. Thanks for all the cool info. I knew some of the Skyline's history in Oz from a couple of reference books and being a fan of V8 Supercars but this additional info is very interesting. I'm probably going to have to ask my brother who now lives in Adelaide to pick me up a copy of that book if I can't order it online myself to have it shipped to me here in the US. I have a pretty decent collection of Skyline and GT-R books and memorabilia and that book looks like it'd be a good addition lol. By the way, any pics of the Nissan bonnet logo on the ADM cars? I'm curious what it looked like versus the JDM S. I tried googling ADM car pics but couldn't find a decent pic.
  25. Thanks for the interesting info. Were the ADM cars specifically needed for the R32 to be eligible in ATCC? And did they have any unique marking to distinguish them like an ADM only plaque, serial plate or something? I ask because those are the kinds of details that might entice a buyer outside Oz to pay a higher price - especially the motorsport angle. If presented correctly I can see someone be more willing to pay extra although I think it still won't be the kind of prices Nismos are commanding right now here in the US. How much is a good ADM R32 trading for now over there? I can compare that to the prices other R32s are going for over here to gauge what the market would be.
