  1. Same could be said for Mick's underdaks.......
  2. Will you be providing the on-street entertainment again next year Niko?
  3. Probably not Pat. They can be a bit aggressive to other species, and they like "harder" water conditions than most other slimy things.
  4. Just pulled down an aquarium and have a couple of cichlids going free to a good home. Preferably someone who already has them, or at least knows how to look after them. There is one large electric yellow, one baby electric yellow and a Transcriptus. PM me. Cheers, John
  5. Ok, just paid so see y'all there....
  6. Got room for another GTR?
  7. If it was me, i'd be going to one of the transmission places to get it checked out first, there's a couple in Phillip I think. If it turns out to be the diff you are probably better off getting yours rebuilt, swapping your old diff for someone else's old diff probably isn't the greatest idea. Cheers, JD
  8. If all else fails I think I have a set out of a S2 lying around as well. Have you tried running it at night without the coil pack cover on, to see if there's a lightning show from a cracked coil/s?
  9. Must be the new "Bastard Filter" feature they have implemented Expecting it to get me any day now. You have an SMS.
  10. I have a couple of 68cm Teac colour TVs in good working condition that need a new home. They are silver in colour and both come with remotes and manuals. Pickup from Calwell. PM me if you want one, first in best dressed......
  11. A couple of years ago I can remember being stopped at a red light in Belco and being able to hear sirens approaching fast, so even though the lights went green everybody waited as the cops chased a car through the intersection that clearly had no intention of stopping. Now, had the cops continued the recent chase through Narrabunda with lights and sirens on, maybe the other driver would have heard them and not pulled out onto Canberra Ave. So they may have actually died *because* the cops called off the chase........ The other thing this event highlights to me, is just how many car thieves there actually are in the ACT.
  12. So what are the cops supposed to do, ask them nicely to pull over and if they don't, just let them go? Imagine the car thief (and the cops) are doing the 80K speed limit, cops hit the lights and sirens, thief sees the lights about to change and floors it. May have only hit 100K's, but when the family in the little mazda suddenly appears in front of them and they t-bone it, that's still more than enough to leave pretty much everyone dead. Doesn't have to be a long car chase for someone to die, just makes for better press coverage if it is. We all feel bad for the innocent family, but if the cops stop pursuits completely there will be a lot more of that happening once the bad guys know they just have to put the foot down and the cops will instantly give up. No one really gives a shit about a stolen car but can you imagine the drunks that would be on the road, believing they could drive with impunity?
  13. Grum Reaper? Is that Grim's retarded dyslexic half-brother?
  14. Nah, twas not I. But even the mother-in-law had to ring this morning to make sure. I told her I had to speak softly because I was under the bed, and I thought the police were at the door. Had her going for a good 5 minutes. Crash actually happened in Ellerston Ave, so more Isabella Plains than Calwell.
  15. Hey, it was my daughters nail polish. I wouldn't be seen dead in that shade of lilac
  16. I managed to get all of the bottom plenum bolts off with a 1/4" drive socket and a couple of wobble extension bars. Getting the washers and nuts back onto the lower studs looked like it was going to really suck until I got the idea to temporarily glue each set of washers and nut together into a stack with a few drops of nail polish first. Just popped them nut first into a magnetised 12mm socket and carefully guided them onto the studs. Worked a treat.
  17. What Trent said. I had a diagram of the RB26 boost lines somewhere, but can't find it now. You can see it in this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Si...-G-t305576.html
  18. Thermostat not opening maybe? With the engine cold you could remove the radiator cap and the bleed bolt, then try blowing back through it with a bit of old vacuum hose to see if it's really blocked.
  19. Just an update for anyone with a similar problem who comes across this thread later. Ended up pulling off the plenum and yes, it is every bit as bad as people say it is. Imagine putting your hands into a box full of feral cats for 5 minutes, same end result. But on the up side, I was able to replace every single hose that lives under there, which would have been impossible to do from underneath even with the starter motor out. The hose that had actually split was the little bastard coolant line from the turbos, the top hose in the second picture from the previous post. The JustJap sillicon engine hose kit ($299 + freight) contains 14 hoses, and 12 of them go under the plenum, a mixture of coolant and air hoses. The other 2 hoses go from the heater box on the passenger side of the firewall and back across behind the engine. There is also a small plastic connector pipe that joins the top heater hoses between the back of the plenum and the firewall. Mine was very brittle and crumbled just from pulling the heater hose off, so definitely worth replacing that while the plenum is off.
  20. Obviously a quality alarm/immobiliser and GPS tracker are always the best option, but can be a bit pricey. Unfortunately the guys who break into your car just to steal the stuff in your console and glovebox will often ignore the alarm going off, grab your stuff and take off anyway. Having a very, very loud siren inside the cabin is going to make that a very uncomfortable experience for them. As Giveway pointed out, it can also be painful for the owner if they trip the alarm by mistake. It never ceases to amaze me though how many people don't have any security at all on their car, sure not everyone can afford a $1K system, but there are lots of cheaper options that are better than nothing. A simple immobiliser circuit can be built by anyone who can hold a soldering iron for about $20, or even less if you have the parts lying around. Places like Jaycar have heaps of good stuff, you just need a basic knowledge of electronics and a bit of imagination. Not going to publish details here, but happy to give you some ideas via PM if anyone is worried about their ride.
  21. Bad luck Andrew. Rather than installing a louder horn and hoping people who hear it will actually care, you are better off hiding a 120db piezo siren inside the cabin triggered by either an alarm or a simple timer circuit. No way anybody could sit inside your car while that was going off. Jaycar sell them.
  22. With the bonnet up you should be able to hear the pump motor running when you switch the washer on from the steering column. Pull the wiring connector off and check it with a multimeter while activating the washer switch - could be a blown fuse. If the pump is dead you can just prise it away from the bottle with a screwdriver. The pump is just held in by the edges of the recess in the plastic bottle, and has a plastic pipe that goes into a rubber grommet. Pretty sure I got a generic replacement pump from either Supercheap or Repco ages ago. Take your water bottle in with you to make sure the replacement pump will push into place.
  23. Thanks Duncan, that makes it all crystal clear. I noticed that when I undo the radiator cap and break the vacuum seal I can still hear a bit of coolant trickling down somewhere toward the back of the plenum. Hopefully once I get the starter out tomorrow i'll be able to see where it's coming from, without swallowing any of it. Thanks again, and if you want some practice fitting a full sillicon kit before you do yours, i'm just down in Canberra.......
  24. Duncan, If you have a minute, can you just confirm these are the 2 hoses I can replace after pulling the starter motor? And these are the other 2 you mentioned, but they are a plenum off job? Not likely to be the culprit in my case because they are further forward, but I guess these oil cooler lines could leak as well? And if it's any of the hard pipes it's plenum off time? I just ordered a full hose kit, so if I turns out to be one of the hoses in the first pic i'll at least be able to get it running so the workshop can do the rest. Thanks for your help.
  25. Oh, ok I guess i'll be doing it myself then Just a wild stab in the dark, but the starter motor will be a proper bastard to remove too, won't it?
