  1. Very tidy S3 mate, as for keeping it stock - yeah, right With exhaust, front pipe, high flow panel filter in stock airbox and PowerFC my R33 just made 239RWKW, so power wise yours seems pretty much on the money. No idea about fuel economy though, I just fill it up and go drive it some more
  2. Plus you need to pull the Hicas bulb in the dash or it stays on permanently. The other option is the Tomei Hicas lock kit which has shims and an electronic gizmo to fool the ECU into thinking Hicas is still functioning, currently around $185 + postage on Ebay.
  3. I did this on my GTST so long ago, I had forgotten it was even there. Just tap into the standard ECU signal wire discreetly with a bit of black wire somewhere near the solenoid and run it into the cabin, then just run the other side of the switch to earth. I bought a really small black rocker switch from Jaycar and mounted it into a black plate that was clipped into the dash to the left and below the steering wheel. If they ask, tell em it switches on the Pangalactic Gargleblaster
  4. Last time I rode my KLX through the far end of Tralee St in Hume down near the horse paddocks it looked like someone had been doing some serious LSD breaking in there. Only one way outta there though if someone decides to spoil your fun.......
  5. Good work dude I had been wondering how/if I could recalibrate the Impul 300k speedo in mine, but the speed variation doesn't seem to be linear. It's out by about 2kmh at 80kmh, and around 5kmh by 110 when compared to turbo timer/gps. The variation seems to grow with the speed. I guess that adding another 2kmh adjustment across the board would be better than nothing. Do you happen to know what kind of signal the speedo gets sent from the speed sensor/ecu? Is it something that can be reproduced on the bench?
  6. Try turning off your climate control completely and see if the noise stops. There is an actuator in there that makes the critter noises when it is shagged, seems to be fairly common on our aging Skylines. Fixing it is a real PITA if that's the problem.
  7. My tuner used the high tech "stuff a rag in next to it" solution to stop it moving I heard of another tuner using a folded up page torn from last month's workshop calendar, which provides the owner with the added bonus of a free picture of a girl with impossibly large breasts next time he takes his ECU out. One of these days i'll pull the kick panel off mine and mount it properly.
  8. I thought of that, and you may well be right Alistair, but a corporate vehicle cops 5 times the individual fine until the driver is identified i.e. $1115.
  9. Just to clear this one up: 1. AFAIK in the ACT DUI fines are never issued as a ticket, only dealt with by the courts. 2. Speeding fines are $143, $223, $604 and $1647 (ouch!). School zones/Non school zones appear to be the same fines. 3. There is NO offence in the ACT where a traffic ticket can be issued for the amount mentioned in the OP. The only feasible explanation would be multiple infringements - i.e speeding plus something else........
  10. That certainly sounds odd. Wasn't a school zone or something?
  11. Yes it does. Thanks heaps for doing that so quickly.
  12. Yep, I was thinking white on blue might look ok, had no idea about the japanese racing stuff. If you get a chance could you shop these on to see how they look? Thanks for all the suggestions.
  13. Yep, I can see what you mean - the thicker spokes do look better on the fat girls Do you know if the LMGT4's come in anything not quite so.....chrome? I've seen the TE37's before, but not those particular Veilsides or Works you mentioned, off to have a look now.
  14. Thanks for that, they don't look half bad... Not a big fan of the BBS either, but I didn't have many side-on shots to choose from, and they just happened to be on that car. Didn't realise the 34's would look weird on a 33 - is it just that they "don't look as though they belong"? See lots of 33's on 32's, so figured it might look ok. Thanks again for doing the Nismos.
  15. Would appreciate it if one of you photoshop gurus could shop some R34 GTR wheels on this R33 pic. It's not my actual car, but it's exactly the same model/colour as mine, just without the stocko wheels. I don't have a good side-on shot of mine at the moment. Feel free to stick on any other wheels you thing would look good as well if you feel like it, I'm kinda struggling with the amount of wheel choices that are around these days. Would also be interested to see how something in black or white would look if someone has the time. Thanks muchly. JD
  16. Final price drop - $10,000. If car remains unsold at that price or near offer it will be handed over to the wife as a daily driver, and you will all have to share the road with her. Don't say I didn't warn you.
  17. My son and his mates went to see that at the Tuggers cinema last night. When I picked them up from the carpark out the back there were a heap of other people leaving at the same time, and they all stopped and stared at my car. I was thinking WTF, am I blowing smoke or something? Then the boys told me there was a blue GTR in the movie, but i'm guessing it wasn't a stock old 33
  18. You could try the repair place in Molonglo Mall at Fyshwick. Can't remember what they are called, but if you turn off Newcastle St at the roundabout and head up towards Molonglo Mall they are just around the corner on the left.
  19. Ended up scraping it off carefully with a razor blade because it was too brittle to peel off. NFI what it was on there for. Thanks for the suggestions guys. JD
  20. My passenger side mirror has some sort of plastic film stuck over it, with a thin black line that runs from top to bottom towards the outside edge. The area between the film and mirror has gone cloudy in places, so I wouldn't mind getting rid of it. The only concern is that there is wiring running into the back of the mirror, which I assume is some sort of demister, but not sure if the plastic film is part of that. Anyone know what it is, and if it can just be peeled off without destroying the mirror? Sorry about the crap photo, but taking a picture of a mirror with a flash isn't easy! Cheers, JD
  21. I don't think it would do that much harm to your tyre, it just makes a hell of a mess. If you then take the tyre to be properly repaired they really need to take it off the rim and clean it all off, which is a real pain. Same goes for that green slime sh1t some people put in their tyres to prevent flats. I don't like driving on space savers, especially if I got a flat out on a highway somewhere hours from home, that's why I keep a plugging kit in the boot. But if you shred a tyre, and don't carry a spare you are pretty well screwed.
  22. It *might* get you out of trouble, but I wouldn't be carrying it instead of a spare. If you get a big enough puncture or a side wall tear, you may as well fill your tyre with santa snow. For the sorts of punctures that it would fix you're better off carrying a plugging kit and pump/portable compressor, as well as a spare tyre.
  23. Not sure about standard ride height, but I recall that the general consensus among suspension "experts" was that the ideal ride height for an R33 GTS-T was 355mm front and 345mm rear. 320mm is very low. Cheers, JD
  24. Yep, just unscrew the ball off one end of the rod, work out how long you need it and cut the threaded rod with a hacksaw. The thread is pretty coarse, so just needs a clean up with a small file or a die if you have a tap & die set. Just make sure you get the measurements right before you start cutting.......
  25. Thanks Michael, much appreciated. At least I know now 100% that it's a Vspec and the colour is original. Cheers, JD
