  1. We sell plenty of ross and ati balancers at work.... for alot of RB26's! You can't really compare Ross to Ati balancers, as said its like comparing a VS SS to a R32 GTR in track performance. The Ross and ATI balancers are both made for very different setups and applications. Ati are and always will be a top end balancer, High punishment, long lasting and just made to a much better quality. Ross balancers are great for minimal to medium amounts of abuse, random track days etc, but if you've spent considerable amounts of cash on your RB26 you shouldn't go past the ATI units, there not cheap but when you see the quality you understand! Most of the High HP GTRS use the ATI Super Dampner 1000HP balancers... but the 600HP ones are great for track cars, drift and just plain tough street cars..
  2. Here's some information for you.... The "Hoon squad / Traffic Branch" can and do have a large variety of laws and rules that allow them to operate completely different to any other branch of police force in order to watch, catch traffic offenders. They will and do use other vehicles to follow and catch people sometimes there confiscated ones, owned by the government etc. The vehicles have to have a caliberated and accurate speedo which they get checked every few weeks if I'm not correct. When your pulled over by a police officer who has done the " Assesed your speed against his speedometer while following you " you can actually ask him when his speedometer was last caliberated and he should have a record of it. There regulations state they must be maintained regularly to be able to give accurate readings of speed. If its been missed then the car can give inaccurate readings. Same goes for a police officers name and badge number and station, when asked the officer must inform you of these details... if he refuses he can actually get in trouble for it!!!
  3. Hey Cy... Take care mate and look after yourself and the family.... just remember this club isnt just about the cars we drive, its more then that... you'll always be welcome to come cruise or chat " We dont descriminate against lower technology we just giggle at it " Its a sad day to see that stagea go as it has quite a long history to it..... many good memories of that wagon. Take care and dont be a stranger BOOSTA (Pete)
  4. URAS... and ABO, Your both correct, the wiseco's are a decent piston and readily available in many different shops.... In the end if the engine builder doesnt know how to install pistons correctly (hell CP even have instructions to follow for there pistons and rings) As for the difference between the V8 supercar pistons etc, they are all made by the same machinists at CP Pistons and with the same material as ur standard off the shelf Forged Rb20, Rb25, Rb26, Rb30, Rb30/25/26head, etc etc <--- CP Stock The only difference in the standard forged pistons to the customs is things like X Forgings, lateral gas ports, vertical gas ports, anti detonation grooves etc etc ( plus the basic things like to suit certain applications etc and heads, pin heights, flat top, dome, or dish, blah blah.... skirt length can be changed in custom aswell. I have seen and spoke to many different workshops within Australia and we are still waiting to see a Real CP PISTON Failure...... or even a Ringset Failure that hasnt been caused by incorrect tunning (detonation) Some of the shit I have heard scares even me sometimes with regards to what people do to engines, Cheers BOOSTA (pete)
  5. WJ........ CP Pistons speak for themselves...... go have a chat to engine builders who use them in many different applications! The way i look at it is, the proof is in the evidence of the product and the people who use them, I have seen Cp's in engines from the V8 Supercar Engines to V8 Twin Turbo'd Dune Buggies to 2 x Lamborghini V12 engines. They all use the CP Pistons and the Ringsets provided by CP to suit the pistons.... Having said that Cp Pistons arent responsible for people who sell pistons with the wrong ring sets in them. Wiseco are great for lots of different options but if you really are chasing pistons that are above the normal.... CP's are a great choice, Cheers BOOSTA (pete)
  6. I work for someone who happens to do alot work with CP PISTONS and abit of WISECO... The way i look at it is.... If the V8 Supercars and numerous Top Door Slammers use CP Pistons and we havent seen a failure because of a cp piston or ring (aslong as there installed properly!!!!!!) then i think that speaks for itself. Wiseco arent even in the same league..... there measurements for standard off the shelf pistons vary way too much and dont even get me started on there custom pistons!!! The only problem with CP PISTONS is the timeframe for custom pistons..... 6 - 8 weeks (but we havent had any returns of custom pistons yet, they look and perform unreal!) Cheers BOOSTA (Pete)
  7. Now.... take the 2 mountain bikes to a pawn shop and you should get enough for a new steering wheel sounds like they just wanted to swap ur wheel for there 2 bikes That will teach the little shits to try screwing over a Skyline owner. Just tell them either you get ur wheel back otherwise there 2 bikes are a fair trade in for the wheel. Cheers BOOSTA
  8. Its okay.... no probs I can go and get a blatz one if need be.............. Heh just gotta find out whats wrong with my poor ol gtst So i figure i might aswell shell out for my own consult cable and that way it helps shorten the list of what it could possibly be...
  9. NewKleer, I'd like to put my name down for a usb ecutalk consult cable, I have money ready for direct deposit as soon as your ready to take it? Can you please PM me and let me know if there is any left and what I have to do and when..... Thanks BOOSTA (Pete)
  10. Have you checked your oil level? I know it sounds silly but that tapping sound will be either low oil. Maybe the tappets? if your car has gone a few k's or either your oil is really dirty and just taking its sweet time to lubricate the engine. Injector sounds are no-where near as loud as tappets/low oil tapping and the fact that the tapping starts at 1'000rpm i'd say could be not enough oil getting to tappets etc.
  11. Mrgilly.... if the lady at the front desk isnt, ask to speak with her manager.... and then he should be able to put you on to the fraud department for the commonwealth bank as its in there best interests, I probably wouldnt expect the lady at the front counter to care to much as its not there problem... But the manager will be able to give you contact details for the banks fraud department. Always go to the manager and if he wont help, then look on there website aswell..... Commonwealth Bank: Fraud - who to contact Report fraud to: 1800 023 919 or 13 2221 or a Commonwealth Bank Branch. 12. Heres a great piece of advice for you madaz R33.... go down to your local bank and put in a fraud complaint It will then go to the banks fraud department and be investigated, Defrauding someone with false details while using a banks account is a big NO NO! It carries a nice jail term and the banks do press charges aswell. Just go have a chat to them and even the bank company he is with, as they dont take to kindly to fraud of any type! Cheers BOOSTA PS. just been through this stuff with a family member getting ripped off and the bank not only found the person, but had them arrested and charged aswell. (big thanks to Suncorp bank!)
  13. Good to see another big GTR using our pistons Sweet GTR.... good luck with it! Cheers BOOSTA
  14. Hey Guys I have a 1989 R32 GTST that the paint has started to show its age on and has started peeling paint off when i removed my old side skirts etc. I have since decided with my dad to give the car a nice but basic respray in the standard nissan skyline colour kg1 (i think its called?) because it looks like crap at the moment. My Questions 1. How far do i rub the car back? to undercoat or metal? hand sand or just use a orbital sander? or use a paint removal liquid? 2. Can anybody please post a step by step procedure on how to prep the body properly as its my first time? 3. Can anyone give me any tips about what stuff to use for sanding back etc (grit size) and bodyfiller brand etc? (My dad is spraying the body as he's done this before) Any help would be really appreciated at the moment! As its my first go at this and i want to be as helpful as possible to my dad? Cheers BOOSTA (pete)
  15. Hey Guys I was wondering if anyone has used any "Engine Oil Cleaner" additives to clean all the gunk out of engine before putting in new clean oil? If so whats the best brand? I'd like to clean as much sludgy oil out of my rb20det as possible before putting in some new oil. Its the first proper service since i bought it from the dealers so i'd like to just give it a nice clean out without ruining the engine. Same with the Injectors, just want to give them alil freshen up with cleaning additive, aslong as it doesnt ruin my injectors. cheers BOOSTA (Pete)
  16. Halo, What car is the RB going into? Apart from the obvious things like capacity which is RB20DET - 2 ltr RB25DET - 2.5 ltr RB30DET - 3 ltr There all great engines but like anything else the more capacity you have the easier it can be to make more HP and with more reliability. But more importantly it will also come down to what components you use and also what gets done to the block and other bolt ons that will make 500hp and make it reliably. The Rb20det is unfortuately getting alil old and with that fact comes the lower amount of aftermarket parts for it aswell. The Rb25det is newer and has been gaining in popularity in Australia so the amount of aftermarket parts is quite large which also means cheaper prices aswell. The Rb30det has been around along time in Australia because of the VL and R31 which where australian made / delivered cars and in large numbers so the aftermarket scene for these is also large and prices vary accordingly. If you really want to see whats the best my advice would be to visit a few aftermarket workshops who have built a few tough Rb's and just asking them about questions you have. These guys do this for a job and so will have a load of information about whats your best plan of attack for building a 500hp engine with as much reliability as possible. Maybe even speak with the sponsors from SAU... theres some great workshops who know lots about the nissan engines and could give you rough guesses about easiest options etc... Try searching SAU for specs theres lots of threads about, just make sure u change the search button to 365days so u get all the threads Try http://nissanskyline.6te.net/ <--- basic info of rb20 and rb25, rb26dett etc etc Cheers BOOSTA
  17. Hey Guys, Thanks so much to all who have replied, i have quite a good list of things to start checking over and one by one will knock them off the list. I dont know what i'd of done if it wasnt for the help from SAU, Does anyone know a good way to check out cooler piping to see if its leaking air anywhere? Because my standard bov is bloody loud, sounds like a turbosmart atmo vent one even tho its plumbed back ?.... THANKYOU !!! My List to check...... 1. AAC valve and assembly (including clean out and idle reset) 2. Connect Wires in steering column and check over. (hicas checkover) 3. Replace Fuel Filter and check out old one. 4. Check over Coil Packs and also cover in industrial silicone 5. Check and possibly replace coolant temp sensor. 6. Check AFM and Oxy Sensor for correct readings. 7. Check Injectors and clean if needed. 8. Check all intercooler piping for possible air leak... as i think thats where the backfire problem is occuring !!!! #My car specs# 1989 R32 GTST Rb20det Standard Turbo Standard boost (spikes to 11psi) Standard plumb back bov (bloody noisy? possibly leaking somewhere?) Standard Dump and Front pipes 3" Hi flow cat 3" Bee R cat back exhaust New NGK Iridiums (standard gap) CHEERS BOOSTA (Pete)
  18. Thanks halo, Yeah thanks to alot of people who have given me some great opinions guys..... thankyou alot. I think im gonna start by tracing these wires in the steering column and make sure there all connected up and not cut / faulty. I have no resivor in my 32 at the back so im guessing my hicas fluid is from the PS resivor which is full. As for the idle im going to first clean the AAC valve and reset the base idle etc, change fuel filter and then if its still the same, take the coils out and check them thoroughly and maybe also cover them in industrial grade silicon just incase there starting to arc out. I think the connectors for the plugs that connect to the coil packs are rooted as the little plastic insides have crumbled up? has that happened to anyone else yet? Do i just hunt for a 2nd hand set of leads/wires with the connectors on? or can u buy those plastic bits new from nissan? Also picking up a 2nd hand speedo as mine has split the plastic housing at the back and causes the speedometer to jerk about sometimes and plus the odometer has stopped working :S Thanks guys for all the advice and help..... Its great to know i can always ask the SAU family for some help Cheers BOOSTA (pete)
  19. hey colbs, Unfortunately Im just not that well known in the SAU qld (Brisbane) circle as i came from the old skool group of which many have left... I dont think many people would wanna give a stranger there ecu to borrow Cheers BOOSTA (Pete)
  20. thanks sanger.... yeah i know how much i'd miss the car when its gone but I just am stuck in a hole atm.... I mean when you go for a drive these cars just make you forget about all your worries and just think about the drive. I dont mind most problems its just come at the worst possible time! Cheers BOOSTA (Pete)
  21. Hey Guys Jvp and Sanger thankyou for trying to help me out, I have a standard steering wheel and i dont think its ever had a aftermarket wheel?? But i've had to take off the interior plastics around the steering wheel and dash as my odometer has stuffed itself and then where the plastic connects to the speedo cable its all cracked there too. But when i took the plastics off, i noticed alot of unplugged wires and connectors, theres alot of wires going to fuses and connectors etc???? I have a HKS turbo timer and theres wires to that and other stuff aswell. Im really starting to hate this car.... actually thinking of just getting rid of it. I cant afford time at a mechanics as the money I had saved up I gave to my parents to help them out with stuff. If I had the money I'd take it a workshop but when u pay $260 a week rent and you earn $480 p/w it just doesnt leave much for toys. Thanks anyways guys I'll just have to either try and sort it out somehow or sell it as is! Cheers BOOSTA (pete)
  22. Just came back from checking AFM, unplugging it and cleaning and replugging back in and still no difference. The plug clicks in place and still no difference, the car still idles like crap nearly stalling. I checked the fuel pump and the lines, there pulsing away with fuel, check the ecu and 55 code came up ( no malfunctions ). Im kinda empty for ideas. I have 2 sensors in my exhaust, 1 near the dump pipe and then another near the cat? is that all normal? LOL Plz help us!!! Cheers Pete (BOOSTA)
  23. yeah it sucks huh, The thing that confuses me is the car doesnt stutter or miss when u put power down, only when it idles does it miss/ irregular idle? it pops and backfires when u change gears or come off the accelerator? I'm confused as all buggery. I dont know what to do, when I get some more money then i'll prob take it somewhere but things are pretty tight for me at the moment. So any help to try and eliminate stuff is great for me. cheers Pete ps.. good luck with trying to sort out ur car JVP
  24. yeah i know.... i was looking at her like what the hell, how do you remove a standard item and replace it with what? a bag of potato chips? Just wish i could get this car sorted... the car pops and backfires every gear change ! its damn annoying and embarassing!
  25. Thanks Waz, I'll go and recheck the afm plug now..... Are standard 32 bovs quite loud? a police officer pulled my partner over and said my standard bov sounded too loud like aftermarket and told her it had to be removed :S cheers Pete (BOOSTA)
