Hey guys long time lurker, first time poster (so be gentle haha).
I have the opportunity to purchase an rb26 head on the cheap (very cheap) however it has one of its cam caps damaged (last one on intake).
Anyways I have read mixed things about broken cam caps from when they break then the head is pretty much scrapped to just putting another in and being done with it (dodgy).
My first question is, is it possible to have an rb25 cap put into an rb26s place and just line bore/hone the hole out to the right specs if I supply the cam to a machine shop?
Also if this is possible, my second question is how reliable will this method be? Like will there be any difference in regards to wear and potential breakage from a stock bore?
Basically what I'm asking is can it be done? Is it worth getting done? And is it going to be just as reliable as stock?
Regards,
Ben
