As i have to do a conversion right away... sigh... the hardest part for me is the clutch pedal My local nissan dealer can get the whole lot for me (but oddly nissan sells everything BUT the pedal itself). Though, this will take some time and i dont really have that much time... So i am thinking, would a GTST clutch pedal fit, given that as SK said, the stagea from B pilar forward is a press of the R33 (bar the panels etc though) Cheers

Noises From Transmission/somewhere
AlexCim replied to AlexCim's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Oh also, the car still holds fine to redline, with no hesitation. Doesnt seem to be down on power either and the noise goes away above 3,000RPM, on the spot and on the road. (id think the sound from a timing belt rubbing would get worse?) -
So today i went somewhere to get something, and i was sitting on a hill in D. I wanted to try and find a house and i thought it may have been behind me. I forgot the car was in D but i let my foot off the brake, the car started to slowly roll backwards and then it gathered like a good 15km/h or so. Then, thinking i am putting the car in R (please dont ask how i managed such a big screw up), i put it in 2.... i rolled for a bit more and then the car stalled! I put it in park, turned it on and then found the house i needed and parked. The first time i stopped, i was in D and had the brake fully on. The car was making a woo woo woo woo woo noise at a period of about three woo per second. Then i put it in N and revved it and it didnt make the noise... So then i got a friend to put it in D and push the brake and i listened in the engine bay. Thinking it may have been my new timing belt i listened in that area, but it sounded like it was coming from the turbo. Then when i listended to the turbo it sounded liek it was from else where... Anyway, so i concluded that my auto box is on its way out and i screwed up a gear or something and that i should take it easy. BUT, the plot thickens. This happend this morning at 11am, since then i drove another 100km and now, i noticed the woo woo also happends like, between gear changes... BUT, now if i am in N and i rev the car at exactly 2500RPM +/- 500RPM, i can get a similar belt rubbing noise? So i am thinking the woo woo between changes is due to the 2500RPM thing Anyway, anyone got any ideas? I just got my timing belt replaced by a reputable workshop around here, i just hope it isnt rubbing on the cam cover, can i inspect this somehow myself? I dont care if my auto box is on its way out, because i am converting to manual really soon anyway, but i need to be semi certain it will hold up at least you know, another few weeks... If i just replaced the auto box for another auto, cheap stand in for now, what box would i need to buy? Thanks for any input fellas, Alex (worried)

Couple of days ago, i was driving to my girlfriends and i went the back way, springvale road was busy as hell Anyway, turning onto the back road...i see a station wagon turning right a few cars in front of me.... IT WAS MY CAR. Identical, white, no spoiler, std kit etc, couldnt see the wheels (they were spinning) I wanted to catch up the guy, but i had to turn off before i could... but it was soooo soo odd seeing myself a few cars infront. The stageas are coming out now. There are about 6-7 differnt ones that i know of (but still, 7/lets say 500,000 cars is not much)

Bolt on downpipes and exhausts bits for stagea ?
AlexCim replied to Ben D's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Crap.. This is the CES pipe This is where we are going to put it Do you think that will cause any problems? If so, please contact micheal at BOS Importing [bosimporting@exemail.com.au] -
The turbines that i would consider are HKS 2835 Trust T518Z (or 517z) HKS GTRS Garret GT35R

Bolt on downpipes and exhausts bits for stagea ?
AlexCim replied to Ben D's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Its OK, I have spoken to Micheal at BOS and we have concluded that it is two things 1, because he uses a new manufacturer for the stainless pipes, the flange on the turbo side is not sitting at the correct angle, which made me have to lean the pipe UP (was tilted back) to fit, but because it was hitting the floor, it didnt fit. So he will check the angles on the stainless ones, teh mild ones are ment to be fine. 2, the CES pipes have the o2 on the other side of the pipe to std. What the split pipe does it cause the o2 to sit on an angle so that it touches the heat sheild on the manifold. I have also discussed this and he is putting the o2 on the other wise, so it will sit "upside down". He said that with the split pipe, in most cases its been the o2 coming CLOSE, really close, but not touching. It is to the do with the angle that its welded in, so maybe using a new manufacturer again, some kinks being worked out of the system. Micheal will release a new revision of the split pipe probably soon i guess. I want to install mine, as my Fujisubo exhaust arrives in... 10 days! BTW, the catco SS inside cat fits fine with the std plumbing. I just didnt put it in yet because i would rather do it all in 1 go... We will be fine fellow stagea owners! We will be fine! -

The idea of a split dump pipe is that there is turbulent gasses coming out of the a) wastegate and B) turbine. The reason that a split DUMP is poor is because, sure, they are split, but they are only seperate for what, 10cm. Also when the wastegate gas enters back, it enters at a big angle therefore creating more turbulence. This is why a split DUMP is not worth it, if you still using a front pipe. If you are going to do it seperate, get a sinlge DUMP and front pipe. The less turbulence the better the flow, as its more smooth. This is why a dump/front in one is perfect, specially when split. The gasses are seperate for a good 1/2m which allows easy exit from the turbine and wastegate. Also, the entry angle back to the pipe is very good, meaning both gasses just "mesh" together and dont create more turbulence. From this, going off what my friend said in his 200sx, the split DUMP is more restricitive if using seperate front/dump, so he bought a single. The split gives more power down low, with response but is restrictive up top BOS importing trials show the split pipe (even in single mode dump/front) makes like 15kw move atw overall. So from that, conclude that split dump/front in one is best overall. More response, better flow, more top end power. And that is why i bought the SS split dump/front in one... -
Adj Camshaft Pulley & New Cam Belt
AlexCim replied to Sydneykid's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Should i bother and buy an inlet cam cam gear in addition to exhaust cam gear? -
To tell you the truth, i dont know what i want to do turbowise. I do however plan to buy a brand new turbine, unless i find a good 2nd hand bargain. I was thinking something along the lines of a GTRS or maybe 3037S. But again, i am not too sure, and this wont be something i will be buying for ~6 months, so i dont really want to say anything...but yes, a GTRS = good turbine (i hate std turbine, too responsive for my liking)

The jap ones say 0:100, but they are not that in 33/34, more like 2:98. Still that 2 presents wear on the clutch pack if doing burnouts/standstils/etc

Yes, i can understand plastic moulds are no cheap, specially to have the finish that it does. However i am thinking more something made of CF with fibreglass reinforcing, and then just gluing on the standard clips taken off the auto cover I have a friend to do something like this (he is in indo getting married right now) and he can make CF boots for 400$ so i am sure a surround wouldnt be as much as nissan wants. However, yes, this would be a totally difference finish to the nissan one, but to be honest, i am not one to complain about mismatched colors as long as its mostly functional. The only "difference" i see is the finish on the ash tray would be different to the cover, but this could actually look good... I have started to buy parts for my manual conversion so i will keep everyone posted with what i do. Got a R33 GTR gearbox with shifter and transfer case for 800$ Looking around for all the other stuff right now.

atw I wouldnt settle for 300 flywheel hehe
