  1. Your right - I dont have the money - I enjoy gradual spending - I love the "link" me and my Stagea have gotten The 260rs would be a hard strech, being kept standard for many years. Cheers for everyones inputs...discussion can continue though.
  2. Bloody learner hoons! hehe
  3. It will be a true, BEAST.......... .... ... when it gets released! haha Have a look at this page http://www.bugattipage.com/ride.htm On another note, how often do you think you will be cruising at 400km/h in Australia. This car is way too much for Australia, specially on our crappy roads. Give me this in germany, AUTOBAHN BABY! From that webpage EPA city driving: 7 mpg = 40L/100 EPA highway driving: 10 mpg = 28L/100 Steady 253 mph: 3 mpg = 95L/100 Now stop whining about your bad "13L/100" fuel economy! hahahaha
  4. 2000GT is a CLASSIC. Keep it for 10 years and it will SURELY grow in value, however, i doubt many people outside japan would be interested in buying such a car. Pity, they look amazing i reckon.
  5. elbee111, as good as the E55 was, it wasnt a "car" as i would say. It was a f**king quick family car, and thats it. The fact that it had air suspension all around didnt help the car, and it truely was a "boat" (expensive albeit) If i was going to get a Merc id shoot for the SL65 currently, but if i needed a family car, cant go past the E55/S55
  6. Pull it down. When i did the front ones, i had to remove the whole mount to fit the bushes. For the rears, i did the max traction one and just lifted the entire subframe with a jack, slipped on the bush and washer, then tightened.
  7. Just reading up on aussie delivered r32's and read that they have atessa coolers fitted as standard. Nissan must have thought something about the car being used in AUS to think a cooler might be needed. That got me thinking, bigger fatter stagea, atessa, hot summers.... does anything think that any bother should be put into such a thing?
  8. Back one year ago when my mates dad had his E55, he told me the '05 E55 held the current world record for 100-300km for a sedan(or might have been outright). Guess this was due to the 700nM of torque. A stock E55 should run low 12's at about 105mph (170kph). If you beat him by 2 1/2 car lengths, you have a mighty fast GTR mate, well done. Video please PS. Give him another run, rolling from 60kph. Ive been in an E55 slide across two lanes in the dry when my mates mum floored it to overtake a car ...this had non std stuff fitted though
  9. Hobby vs Depreciating investment Modded RS4 vs 260RS
  10. Well, SK you provide a very convincing arguement. I think though, in my case, ill have to keep modding the 2.5 as I wont be able to/parents wont like it if i take out an even bigger loan to buy an even more expensive car Though, as we have seen, its probably a better option to just buy a 260rs, but not by too much id say.
  11. Ok, well lets think about this from a non-resale point of view From the first page, the car was ~27k so far in spendings + AP racing 4 pot front kit $3200 (better then 260rs) + some rear brakes, whatever $500 (on par) + SK's kit, $1600 (better then 260rs) + GCG, $2100 (cant compare to 260rs) + Custom bracing to suit 260rs, MAX $1500, (on par with 260rs) + Nismo injectors, $900, (Better then 260rs, but not relavent) + R33 GTR box, $1500 (on par) + Clutch, $1200 (better then 260rs) + Labour on manual conversion $500 * Already better exhaust * PFC as well, plus fuel pump, plus AFM (better then 260rs) So all those components are better then 260rs parts, which someone with a 260rs might want to change anyway, and thats a total of 13+27k = 40k exactly, and at that point i would call the RS4 "finished". Id say the only way to tell is drive a 40k RS4 then drive a stock 260rs, see the difference. Would be interesting, anyone got a 260rs here in Melbourne? EDIT: Oh oops, Forgot + NISMO LSD $1600 (better then 260rs) + Interior manual parts $1500 (same as 260rs) + Rebuild $2000 (not counted, 260rs may need as well) So, actually 43k
  12. What size is it? Small or Large? I am the size of a tiny jap, i want it to hug my ass
  13. Maybe Jake32 got pissed off and dobbed him in? haha, only jokes fellas. anyway, i noticed that too, add me to the string of PM's about his banning...
  14. Oh, leading on from that, I dont REALLY care if my car is worth 25k even after 20k + 20k has been spent. If it handles better then a 260rs, is quicker, has better components, brakes harder etc, ill be happy as the car will be what i wanted and ill think to myself "i couldnt have done better for the price" I dont think any of us here are owning cars to make money, or to own cars that dont depreciate quickly. I plan to keep the stag for many years to come, if i want something EVEN faster, ill save up for a 2nd car. I guess this is why brad doesnt care that his car wont be as valuable as yours jake, because i am sure that he wont sell the stagea until he.. well.. writes it off (similar happend to the VL????)
  15. haha, mine has the tunnel brace also, checked today as i said i would Also installed the suspension kit, subframe lock too. Will do caster soon. God does she feel good now
  16. I am sure the rear subframe brace would be very helpful and useful, but the subframe lock kit should help us with that anyway. I guess the only way to know, same driver, same track, one 260rs worth 40k and a rs4 worth 40k
  17. Anyone got those chassis bracing pictures for me, i tried to search for about 20 minutes through the threads but coulding find it searching "c pillar" "pillar" "chassis brace" "bracing" and "brace". Ill check out my car tomorrow, see if i got it or not. Doubt i do, but ill see. So its halfway between the diff and the gearbox... hmm... we'll see
  18. Where did you score your tunnel brace and what it set you back? As far as structual rigidity, i plan on gettin the doluck rear cross brace (front seat belt anchor to anchor) and a towbar should help heaps too. To be honest, from this discussion i think many people just assume that the 260RS is just better full stop, but in the end, how much could autech ACTUALLY do to it. Also many people may not be wanting to modify a car and prefer to have a "ready to drive" car. For my power target, i am now seeing that its probably better to keep my RS4 and modify it. Sure 270awkw isnt hard in a 260rs, but considering the fact that i would still probably need to swap a few things out anyway, the RS4 will teach me a lot more and also be on par/better in many aspects (suspension, SOME driveline parts, brakes (maybe, we'll see)) hmmm......
  19. http://www.forecasts.org/ was the source for exchange rates
  20. The exchange rates in Jan 1997 were 0.777USD to 1 AUD 117YEN to 1 USD So, that is 0.777x117 YEN to the AUD = 91 yen to the dollar, making it very VERY similar to todays rates. So the GTST Type M was 2.9 million yen (http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/nissan/skyline/1997_2/) which at the exchange rate of the time was ~33k AUD However, must make it clear that 33k back then (yes, only 8 years ago) was probably a lot more money then it is today, so 33k for todays standards might be cheap, but in 1997 33k could have been tight. Also, have to think how japans economy was going, as if nissan would overprice a car if it isnt going to sell.
  21. For the guy that said "who would tune a merc anyway" My good mates dad used to have a tuning shop called EPD here in Melbourne. They tuned Mercs, Ferraris, Porsches etc. It shutdown though because it wasnt profitable enough. Like, it made money, but just not enough for the time it consumed against their main liine of business. They had a black E55 as a family car, boosted, exhaust, intake work, bit of ECU work on 95RON, ran a 11.5 on street tyres. I cant remember how much power it had, but something around 600HP at the wheels i think. Anyway, they also had a S55 and that was pretty quick too, but nothing on the E55. To the point, they were considering a C55 too but from what they told me it was slow as balls. Ive never been in a GTR, but i have been in a 13.1 second S14, which I think would loose by a fair few lengths on the E55, be just behind the S55. Considering the C55 is the base model AMG, id honestly say that it wouldnt be too great a car. For 350hp/1600kg C55 vs 300hp (real stock power, yours is maybe 340hp) 1500kg AWD GTR, id shoot for the GTR. Auto robs more power in the drivetrain too, also the AWD will help launches. Rolling will be close, let me know the results.
  22. Just slapping this sucker back at the top for people that just cruise the forums occasionally. Get those numbers up!
  23. I would have thought the most wear one shocks comes when friction is in play, not just when they are sitting in a fixed position.
  24. Ditto on the connection at the back of the plenum. THere is a little rubber "cap" covering a nipple. Ta
  25. A guy in perth just wrote off his car, but didnt want to buy it back from insurance.
