  1. The STI fozzies aren't on any import list. You can't import them via SEVS. You have to personally import one by living overseas for more than 12 months. Accordingly I'd say they would go in excess of $45k for a pristine, low km mode.
  2. STI Foz great choice - hopefully another in Oz at the end of next year too, mine, cos I will be buying soon (couple of months time) and personally importing it. Mr. EPS...does that guy work in Japan and drive a blue STI Fozzer? Had heaps of hassle trying to get it through DOTARS, but won in court? He was on this site several years ago?
  3. But the Tribeca isn't an import...you can buy one new at the Subaru showroom down the road or on carsales.com.au Just saying, like
  4. The two rows on the top right of the line above H19.6 says that the meter is listed as altered as there are no records indicating when the Nismo meter was installed. So my guess is that they adjusted the Nismo meter to "around" 59k as you mentioned above. That said, the June 2007 inspection papers seem to say that there were 54649km on it, and 58558km in June 2009. Can't read the stuff on the right of those figures though. Something about installation or records. Some other points: Minor dint on the driver's side mirror? Something done to the glovebox? Something installed inside? Other parts still a bit hard to read. You also have a HKS intercooler and Xenon headlights though.
  5. Got a bigger image? I can see you have a 320km Nismo meter, oil cooler, 3 HKS gauges, HKS air filter, some aftermarket muffler, roll bar etc. You also have some worn seats & handles, slight rust under the body and a few dints patched up. Do I also see that it comes with a new car warranty card and manual?
  6. This is also another possibility to import for me. Wonder how much interest there would be if I brought one in as a personal import. 09 models are almost within budget now here in Japan, with just over 10,000km on the clock.
  7. That sounds promising. Its still a toss-up between the CT9W, SG9 Foz or the Honda FD2R you mentioned. This guy sold his civic for $75k. He sounds like a right cvnt though: http://firesport.com.au/2008-mugen-rr-eoi-car-trading-point-sales--ad181884.htm
  8. Truly epic car. Brought in an S6 about 5 years ago and sold it to a dude from QLD - he flew over one night to check it out, left a deposit and organised a truck to ship it a few days later after sending through a bank cheque. This was a 94 model with just over 40,000km on it, and the engine was fine. Sweet sweet rotary goodness.
  9. Each to their own I guess. I think they are all nice cars, and for the same budget, might as well get the one that will sell better! Sorry to say though, the Z40 is even more yuk
  10. FD2...now that's a good idea. This is what I want to hear - base models that are available in Oz like the Foz, Lancer, Civic, but in a spec that you can't get. Had a look at the auction sites and it is a bit more dear than I'd like to spend, but as you said, seems like it is a hot item for sure!!
  11. They've made it 10 days now? It used to be 6 weeks...I provided a full itinerary of a 2 week overseas trip when doing my previous import, just to cover my butt.
  12. Seems to sum up my feelings on Euro cars. Huge profits if you can find a buyer...have to sell at a loss after a year if not. And the entry price is too steep. I'd rather stick with J models for the time being. Keep those suggestions/reqs/discussions coming.
  13. Yup, best to call DOTARS and ask yourself, but if you and the car aint overseas in one single country for 12 consistent months, I don't like your chances.
  14. No...have you read the DOTARS site yet? http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/personal_imports.aspx Particular the links on the right, Eligibility Criteria first: http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/EligibilityCriteria_2.aspx Purchase documents will have to be in your name. UK might have a different arrangement to Japan due to being so close to EU, but I doubt you could move it to another country, unless you are just taking it for a weekend to Nurburgring or something. It has to be in the country for 12 months, and so do you (with only a few exceptions).
  15. Pretty much any car can be done with a personal import. I imagine it's the same procedures required in Japan. DOTARS will need a lot of documentation - you're lucky in that you won't need to have any of it translated. You are only allowed 6 weeks out of country where the car is...any more than that you will need to provide legitimate reasons for, and it gives DOTARS grounds to knock you back. Once you get it back in Oz, you will have to go through the steps of getting a personal import plate from Victoria, and have a workshop fit it, as well as fixing some minor safety stuff.
  16. The import rules have changed, but from memory theres nothing stopping you from selling it once the car is registered back home. Not sure what you are on about DRIFTT. Is there some clause I don't know about? In three years, the cars that cost 3.5 mil yen are now less than 1.5 mil. Most of the cars being suggested here are in excess for 3 mil, some upward of 5 mil, so way beyond budget. Hey EPS, whats the point of the forum if we can't discuss it?
  17. The other thread from 3 years ago warned against Euro cars, because the potential owners wouldn't be looking for an import, they'd want the genuine thing, and are prepared to pay for it. I alo think a RHD Euro would be hard to find, an import Euro would be harder to move too. That said, the profit looks nice. Still, I'm open to options for sure, if there are any good ideas. BMW and audi seems like positives.
  18. Cheers, will have to check into the auctions more then, a manual would be ideal. As for price...well I have done a personal import before and while it is rewarding, it is no stroll in the park and there are loads of risks, so I'm not gonna do it for or cheap. I'm not running a charity here, although I would like to give someone the opportunity of owning a car they otherwise wouldn't be able to get their hands on.
  19. Sorry mate, its a good car, for sure. Just aint my cup of tea, just saying like.
  20. The Z30 is yuk, but the Z20 is sex on four wheels. Love it. But as you say, would be a waste of a personal import if I can get it through SEVS anyway...its just a pipe dream anyway, no way I would receive express approval from the missus for that.
  21. You think another 5 Fozzies will ruin the market? I have heard people will give their left nut for a good condition one at the right price. Are you based in Japan or Oz? If Oz, you obviously have people on the ground here in J. I was going to go through one of the auction broking companies rather than goo-net, yahoo etc. Should be close to half the price...if you can find a manual 06 with low kms for 1.5 mil on the road, that would be simply beaut. I wonder if it will be priced in the same ball park as a regular evo 9, despite its extreme rarity.
  22. heh sorry, didn't mean to bite your head off, it just seemed strange that you suggested an NSX then said they don't sell well...shrug. I don't think the wife will let me get any of those cars, well maybe the crown without a VIP getup. I still like the idea of the evo wagon for its uniqueness, although the Auto gearbox is gonna hurt. The manuals are too rare and cost a heap more. Personally Id like an old skool 80s soarer, the twin turbo ones, but I don't think they will sell well at all....
  23. True dat, although if I could predict future markets I wouldn't be asking the question. Same with stocks/forex, and I'd be a millionaire already. You said in your first post an NSX, and then in your second post you say that they are just sitting idle with no buyers, what gives? Another thing is if it is too expensive, it will effectively shut out the majority of the market. You want it priced so that a mid-20s racer boy with a steady job wants it and can afford it, and most of them can't afford $60k. So I guess I'm not asking what will turn the best profit, but rather what is popular in Oz? The STI fozzies are super hot, theres less than 10 in the country, and every other bloke on ozfoz wants one. So its an obvious choice. I might as well just get two of them if they're so popular, but don't know if I can find two in good condition/low kms in a short space of time, and I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. Given the fuel situation, I was also considering one of the hybrids from Honda or Toyota, but thought the specs might be different ie batteries yadda yadda I imported an FD about 6 years ago, and sold it within 2 months of registering it. There wasn't a heap of interest, but it returned a tidy profit of about $7k after all onroad/importing costs, plus I got to drive around in it and enjoy it for 1.5 years, so not bad overall.
  24. Cheers, but looks out of my price range. What do they go for? Looking at 1.5mil for each car. That banned m3gtr had a few threads about 3 years ago about the same thing, although things have changed in that time. Two cars, budget of about 3mil, looking to sell each for mid $40k in Oz to turn a tidy profit and give some people in Oz the chance to drive a rare j-spec car.
  25. Hi guys, Like I posted in the Evo wagon thread forum. I'm looking at taking two cars (one in my wife's name) home with me from Japan to Perth next year as a personal import. One will be an STI Fozzie. Any recommendations or wants from members here? Thinking of a 2008 Exiga GT or 2005 Evo Wagon AT (manuals too hard to find I'm afraid). What else sells well these days? TIA. J.
