  1. You sound fairly cluey. So this may sound silly but, you need 3 things. A good strong spark - Use a spark tester to check strength or a screw driver holding it close to earth to see how long it will jump (careful you dont shock yourself!) About 300kpa of fuel pressure - Use a noid light or multi meter or test light to check for injector pulse. Decent compression - Check with a comp guage and look for about 150+ psi Hope that helps, Deren
  2. Still looking for the R32 Type M style (i think) pods. Anyone?
  3. Just make sure its mineral based, as a silicone based brake fluid can stuff the seals.
  4. I've found most of those cars are normally imported with the tint on but there must be someone who does it locally. Im after a guy to do mine with the glass out and i wanna go a little darker than legal. 30% isn't quite enough. Anyone in Brisbane you guys can recommend? Deren
  5. Parts still available.
  6. Still after some pods. Anyone?
  7. If anyone has a power steering pump they don't want because its either noisey, leaking, or just plain not working, i'll take it off your hands! Deren 0402 829 091
  8. Selling a set of new, heat treated, race series ACL conrod big end bearings. Suit RB25DE, RB25DET, RB26DETT. They are standard size. Needed oversize, so no use to me. Part number: 6B2960H-STD. Sell for $50.... Save $30+ on RRP. Brisbane
  9. If it helps a little when you use aero start then maybe there is still a chance its not getting fuel. As far as ignition goes you can get a spark guage that you plug into where your s/plug normally goes. You can basically increase the gap wider and wider to see how strong the spark is. That would be one way of making sure you have a good strong spark even in combustion environment. You need to set it up on compression on number one cylinder and make sure its firing on TDC #1
  10. Thanks Geoff Like you said there are so many different ways it can be tackled. Going into work tomorrow morning with everything to give it all a blast out and dry off before wrapping it all up in plastic film to bring home. From there i'll unwrap the parts as i need them and assemble it all. I used silicone on the oil pump last time, but even though i only used a smear it still over lapped the oil gallery hole slightly. Im thinking maybe to use a gasket but would prefer it if i didnt have to. If you use a gasket do you really just rely on the gasket doing all the sealing or do you still use a tiny bit of silicone? Looking for some input on which method to use. Thanks everyone, Deren
  11. John from JHH engineering that machined the engine for me said that the block and all internals should have been throughly washed out prior to assembly. I kind of felt like this would have been a good idea. He said to make sure it is all completely spotless. Another thing he said was not to oil the pistons, but only smear a little on the piston skirts. He said use something like CRC to prevent the bores from rusting but nothing else. The reason being is that it improves ring bed in and apparently this was discovered about 15 years ago. I found it hard to believe but other people have also confirmed that its the correct way for a quick efficient bed in. He also said there is no harm in re-using the same bearings, torqueing down the internals to check for clearances is the same procedure. I have spent thousands on this engine and groud up rebuild, i can't take any risks on any part of it especially the engine. You can call me obsessive but its better to be careful than to be careless and have something fail and waste all that time and money. The way i see it is John has machined this engine and has done so for a very long time (30+ years) and sticking to his guidelines will mean if anything does go wrong my method of assembly can't be blamed. However don't get me wrong i was very appreciative of your help Geoff, i'd just prefer to be safe than sorry when so much money is involved. Deren
