  1. Dammit i just bought the tensioner bearing only for 24 bucks from BSC, they wanted for $130 for just the idler bearing, no assembly... I need some help in sourcing these 2 parts please...
  2. I prolly woulda suggested this too but he says its only at start up and shut off...And im assuming he checked for shaft play etc before installing the turbo, as he did it quite recently i think?
  3. Haha ok i'll try to avoid that! Thanks mate. Deren
  4. Not meant to come on. Thanks for the diagnostic info. I have the manual but its pretty hard to understand at times.. Cheers
  5. If its only doing it off boost then it wouldnt be out of balance. If its a ball bearing turbo then its possibly that causing the rattle I hear they can rattle a bit at shut off etc.. Its hard to say. Are you sure its the turbo making the noise?
  6. Note to self: Only use BLUE loctite!! I really dont see a point in replacing the crank seal as its not leaking and would be more trouble than its worth IMO.. I am however doing the camseals and half moons, replacing the tensioner and possibly the bolt for the tensioner and the stud for the idler. The idler itself feels very smooth so im thinking not to bother replacing it... Any input? Cheers, Deren
  7. Im planning to leave the top belt cover off my RB26 what the best way to space the CAS so it wont sit in too far?
  8. Hmm can anyone help us? Ive had my boss kit installed since i first started driving the car so im not sure if it were a problem beforehand
  9. Dont forget to get the head shaved before you refit it all...
  10. Ok so its important to locktite the Crank pulley bolt?
  11. Kool thanks heaps for the input guys. Ive been quoted about $50 for the tensioner, that wouldnt just be the bearing would it? Im assuming for that price its the whole thing..?
  12. Is it really necessary to replace the studs?? I was not aware of this..
  13. Ok thanks guys, would you reccomend i change the tensioner Geoff?
  14. If it were externally gated would there be a need to have such a complex dump pipe design? As the bypassing gasses would come from the ext gate...
  15. Ok i think Nissan said it was quite a bit more for the Rb26 tensioner.. The idler felt nice and smooth.
  16. Falken 451's are very good i would go back to them again Dry 9 Wet 7 Value 7
  17. Revolution race gear sell the HKB boss kit for HICAS equipped cars. Well they got mine in. My HICAS light comes on sumtimes after 20-30 mins sumtimes not at all. I think my car needs a wheel allignment, as either way i adjust the boss kit one spline either way is still out... Would this cause the light to come on?? There is a HICAS diagnostic isnt there?
  18. Hey again guys, i know ive asked alot of questions lately but one more has come up. When i first took off the cam belt tensioner it was quite dry/free spinning to rotate. Now that i put sum lube in it, it seems to have gotten smoother and quieter when i spin it. Im curious how do i know if i should replace it? And do i have to replace the spring? Or how do i tell if i need to? Many thanks, Deren
  19. Im doign the same and have my list in front of me now. You will need x2 mannifold gaskets, x2 turbo to mannifold gaskets, x2 f/pipe to dump pipe gaskets, x1 f/pipe to cat gasket, x2 turbo intake gaskets, x2 turbo outlet gaskets, possibly dump pipe gaskets if you have removed the sump pipes off the turbo's? and also you may need the 2 gaskets on the turbos for the oil return lines.. There is a gasket the goes between the front turbo and the pipe that says 'twin turbo' but you will only need one of those size gaskets assuming you havent taken the little adapter piece off the front turbo outlet? Hopefully i havent confused you too much! If you need anymore help i can describe thiongs in more detail... Deren
  20. How come you need to use old pads for wearing in new/machined discs?
  21. I thought it was only necessary to change the filter every 10,000? Oil every 5,000...
  22. I 2nd that. I could be either the turbo itself being unbalanced but prolly more likely to be the gasket. If its a rattle up top revs then thats prolly wat it is. Im having the same rattle on an SR20DET. Pull it off and check for black build up around the gasket/s Hope i helped Deren
  23. You can get pillow ball upper mounts without camber adjustment, im guessing they'd be cheaper...I actually need a set of 4 strut tops to fit my Apexi N1 sus onto my R32 GTR. Anyone got any? Or know if you can use a different brand?
  24. Skylines can't use the upper mounts to adjust camber..Thats what ive been told anyhow Regards, Deren
  25. Kool thanks for that mate! Cheers, Deren
