  1. Just as an opinion, i think it's more upto how much cash you have. Personally if i was happy with the current clutch when it was in good working order i would rebuild it. But otherwise change for a different one.
  2. I wasent going to use a Customs agent as my friend has imported alot of cars himself, but in the end when the lady called i think from KIWI car carriers i decided to just let them handle it all and be done with it. You can call the people im using on 03 9614 8100. Ask for Nicki Groves.
  3. Hey guys, i sent my import approval off about 2 weeks before the correct month and i got it back in record time. The thing to consider is that the time it takes to receive back your approval is mostly taken up by the application waiting to be processed. It only takes then a few minutes to process it. So i received my approval back in excellent time and was very happy. Since then, earlier this week i heard that my car was landing today in brisbane (KIWI carrier). I wasent even aware it had gotton on board a ship! So that was very exciting. The car will be trucked down to me in Melbourne to my door after it passes thru customs and quarantine. So it should be in my hands in about 2 weeks max! Very excited. I've never even driven a GTR lol. I have had a fair bit of experience driving high powered turbo cars but never a GTR. Im sure it wont let me down
  4. Haha oops i shoulda checked the date hey?!? Oh well if your gunna do it do it properly! Bring it back in style...its back in fashion! Take care guys, Deren
  5. If he's not he should be...Haha Anyway, on a more sensible note, i aggree with the proposal of revising the SEVS import scheme. Thus reducing the number of 15 yr imports. I recently bought a '89 GTR and had always planned for my next car to buy sumthing under the SEVS scheme. Something newer.
  6. Hey guys just thought id let you know i sent my import approval off over 2 weeks prior to november, month my GTR was built (as instructed by geoff) and i just got the approval in the mail today. I was pretty relieved
  7. I'd prolly just bleed the system anyway see if it solves the problem first.
  8. Well that sounds fair enough but this is wat he emailed me after i bought mine..haha Congratulations on your new vehicle. The invoice from the supplier will follow by e-mail tomorrow. The Japanese deregistration papers will be available in a few days. I have attached a screen dump of the Nissan system showing the build date, which would probably be sufficient proof of build date without the dereg papers if you want to send away your application for Import Approval before the dereg papers are available. So kinda weird i thought. I waited for the deregistration papers and sent it in...
  9. Prestige didnt mention anything about not sending the application off before the build month had come along. I have checked all paperwork carefully and there is no mention of it. Geoff told me to send the aplpication ASAP. From my understanding the car just cant leave Japan until the month has come. So it makes no difference when you get the approval if there is no car here to approve anyway. I sent my application off earlier this week and my car is a November build. Its leaving Japan on the first posibble ship. So fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

  12. Have you considered it to be a gear related problem? I once had a chipped gear in my gearbox and it made a noise at certain speeds. Keep that possibility in mind.
  13. Hey i have the full workshop manual so i can give you all the specs: Nissan recommend 7.5W-30 Sg grade engine oil The sump will hold 4.5 litres and the filter will hold 0.4 litre. (only add the extra oil for the filter if you plan on replacing the filter too) The front diff needs: 1 litre of nissan gear oil hypoid GL-5 85W-90 The rear diff needs: 1.5 litres of nissan gear oil hypoid LSD GL-5 80W-90 The transmission needs: 4.1 litres of nissan gear oil MP-G special GL-4 #75-90 Fill brake master cylinder to max level with nissan brake fluid NR-3 Power steering just needs a standard power steering fluid, they recommend nissan power steering fluid but like most if not all of these required fluids, you will just have to buy an equivilent fluid. Unless you can get them from nissan. I think it would prove very expensive though. I hope all these facts and figured help you.
  14. How much are they? Email me at ultimateperf@dodo.com.au Regards, Deren

  16. Damn i'd be a little pissed! I just thought about it for a second and he could be right in saying it mite be the timing because if the clunking your describing is pre detonating it all adds up. Higher idle would also be the case. A tell tale sign would be a loose cam belt. If thats loose then its obviously easier for it to slip. So hopefully thats all it is and hopefully no engine damage has occured. Good luck with it mate. A nice GTR by the looks ;-) I'd be interested to hear what happens.
  17. Hey guys, in my experience and opinion, i'd have to say i would choose to use Apexi Power filters and a heat sheild/partition. Remember guys the more noise its making doesnt necessarily mean its better, it most likely means more resistance/harder for your engine to breathe. Things such as what turbo your car has obviously play a big role as to how much noise will be heard from the filter. A plain bearing (bush type) turbo will spool up slightly slower therefore making a more laboured induction noise. Apexi make aluminium and also carbon fibre induction boxes that look pretty kool but are hell expensive too. There are templates available online where you can cut out aluminium and make your own custom induction box. I guess the advantage of having it fully enclosed would be that the cops can't do you for it. Im sure i heard that if its enclosed its ok to have... Anyways this is just my opinion :-)
