Hi Sig, nice work. I'm not sure how to diagnose dodgy harness but the g-sensors will have a little red line through that window on the top, when they are broken. Does this make sense? Will your workshop allow you to try before you buy? ie. plug in a replacement and recheck voltages? Sorry mate, I'm not much help today.
-
If you post your original/Japanese VIN, I can have a look through FAST.
-
Didn't you buy it only a week ago?

I'd better say something here because I may have chosen my words poorly. When the staff member was shouting at my brother, spittle was flying out of his mouth and into my brother's face. It wasn't a full spit-in-the-face thing and I apologise for giving the wrong impression. The reason I mentioned it was to convey how emotional the staff member was and how intense the situation began. As I've gone and made this thread and you've taken the time to read it, I want to make sure the facts are straight

It's those Blackhawks from Stan's thread. They are working around Holsworthy.

$80 tank x 20 weeks = $1600 That figure isn't where you should be interested - you should look at your fuel savings per week then divide that into $2000 to find how long it'd take you to break even.

mad082, pics of the headlight switch are in here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=115618

Thanks Busky. 5W-50 would have been what I was using then and I remember the viscosity of the dearer oil was the 10W30. Cheers. A little faith in oil companies has been restored

Thanks for the info regarding spitting being an offence, I'll pass it on. I haven't spoken to him since when it happened, not sure if he has reported it to Police or Fair Trading. As I've replied in a few pms, I appreciate that there should be a majority of customers that are satisfied or they would have to cease operation due lack of business. I was just appalled by the way they treated a customer - there's the old proverb about that which you do unto the least of my brothers... To Nick and the other guys that said yeah great price, poor service: Fair point, however to me poor service is to not use a paper floormat and seat cover when moving my car. En masse shouting and jeering at a customer because he is concerned about accepting the make good offer and coming up short is not poor service, it's about as low as you can go. Cheers for the support guys. I'm keen to take my business to places that look after you, like UAS and CRD, and starve the deadbeat companies out work.

Yeah it's weird Steve. There aren't any terminals there either. I wonder if it is taken care of elsewhere? I wonder if the fuse box is common to the R32 motors...? No main fuse seems bizarre. I'll bet that's why my headlight switch keeps burning out
-
I'll check my fuse panel in the morning but here's post with a link to an attachment with a pic of the fuse decode. ...that's kinda like yer brother's uncle's cousin's husband etc....
-
Sorry dude, that wasn't directed at you. I've just seen a lot of other people fire up and say all sorts of things about a seller only to find out they were interstate on business or something. It was refreshing to see Richard suggested be nice yet unambiguous, rather than the both barrels approach some people prefer

Wow, I had no idea the rep of this place was so poor. The damage was relatively minor. It was a good scrape to the front right guard and headlight assembly. It'd be paint the panel and blend the door and bonnet. It isn't the damage that was the problem, accidents happen. It was the shouting and obscene jeering from a large group of employees when my brother (who was there by himself - his wife and kids out shopping) wanted to consult his own panel beater before accepting the make good offer. The senior employee working at the time was the one leading the group and it resulted in spitting, if that puts things into perspective. Being by yourself, you'd have to be bigger and meaner than Vin Diesel to have a leg to stand on. Anyway, the thread was for me to share some appalling behavour by a business I thought SAUers used. Evidently, everyone here is already smarter and steer well clear...

I read your thread title and thought, "how the heck can it run without a main fuse!?" then I checked my fuse box too... By that logic my car shouldn't be running either! No main fuse. For RWD don't you have to remove two fuses? Not just the top left (or wherever?). I assume you've checked them all but the fact that there is no ABS and no 4WD implies they are linked. That or your rotors are shagged and your ATTESSA reservoir is empty!

Darryl I'd double check as I'm pretty sure my 2002 Liberty was 5x114.3 Perhaps it's the older (pre-2000) Imprezas that are 5x100?

Console And Dashboard Trim Replacement For R32
cowie165 replied to dan.1337's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
If you're just after the blue bits, you would be best off to strip off the paint and then use Brasso and a cotton rag to polish them back to new. You can't actually 'replace' the finish - it's just plastic. At the same time, give the instrument cluster clear cover a polish too - you'd be surprised by how many scratches there are from years of dirty rags causing damage. -
I'd be very surprised if it is anything other than the pressure sender unit. It's an electrical gauge that will fluctuate as the voltage varies and will drop to zero if the voltage does the same. WIth regard to your rebuild/repair quotes, the the oil pump R+R sounds sorta close but the engine rebuild figure seems steep. Remember you don't HAVE to used forged pistons, blah blah if you aren't after a powerhouse motor. If you are happy with it as it is or the generally accepted 250awkw performance then you prob don't need too much in the way of parts, other than your oil pump. When my 89 RB26 goes the way of the buffalo I'm not going to race out for stuff I don't need. I have seen invoices for $4000 rebuilds. Yeah I know there are a lot of guys that can argue (and well) that you NEED to spend >$8000 for valve springs, rod bolts, sump extensions, etc but it's up to you. Other than a crank collar and maybe a sump baffle, do you need much more? Anyway dude, I hope it is sorted cheaply and painlessly, I didn't mean to rant on like I did. Perhaps ask around - RB26 rebuilds are becoming relatively common so it shouldn't be too hard to touch base with someone in Vic that has done a few and could confirm the quotes. Please make sure you post what the mechanics oil pressure gauge says

My brother recently had some work done to his car by a Sydney service provider. Following the retailer damaging my brother's car, the situation turned very ugly and the disgusting behaviour exhibited by staff members was absolutely inexcuseable. Staff members verbally and physically assaulted my brother when he did not accept their 'make good' offer following the damage to his vehicle. A large group of staff congregated and the whole lot began to scream, shout and intimidate whilst he stood there by his lonesome, until he accepted the offer under duress. Way to win customers. Way to act like human beings. Way to obey the law. To avoid any claims of libel, I shall only say that the retailer sells wheels and tyres and is based at Tempe. If you send me a pm I shall reply with the business name.

I wish more people behaved like this ^^. Well said BB.

Installing Oil Filter Relocator On Rb26
cowie165 replied to cowie165's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Thanks for your comments mazgtr I was keen on an angle for the filter but was restricted by length of hose (as it was a used kit) and available real estate in the engine bay (as the strut brace has a master cylinder stopper). I've since had to remove the new filter and there was only the tiniest spillage, so I'm a happy boy. Anyway, I have just reassembled everything for the THIRD time. After I pulled it all off and fitted the rubber gasket I had too much teflon tape on a fitting and didn't tighten a hose enough... 30sec running and ~1.0L of 10W40 all over the floor... sorry landlord This time I removed the teflon tape from all fittings I was hand tightening. I'm sure other DIYers can relate to that sphincter clenching moment just before you start the engine... "have I done up everything" "did I leave a spanner in the fan belt" etc etc. Ok I started it and away we went. I ran it for around five minutes and there was no evidence of any leak Tomorrow we are going to work together and I'll deem the job complete tomorrow night if it is all still good. -
Whilst we're here, I was quoted $79 trade for Mobil 1 last week!? I nearly fell off my chair! I remember buying it for my 180SX and it was under $50 /rant ps ceasefire signed and already crude prices have fallen hurrah on both counts
