:werd: Couldn't have done it without it

Ok I'll confess to stupidity. I was trying to undo the actual pulley nut and not adjust the alternator position. Thanks to wrxhoon's post from a long time back, I loosened the bottom bolt and the adjusted via the bolts on top of the alternator. Boy o boy it takes a while to turn bolts 1/8 turn at a time with the socket wrench being knocked off every two or three turns Happily, it is now adjusted and much tighter than before. It had at least 10mm of flex in it, now more like the 5mm it should. And... my first engine start in over a year that hasn't had a squealing fan belt! Such a pleasure to listen to! Plus, the new exhaust I fitted yesterday is sealed properly and leak free, hurrah! I'm a very happy boy. Brakes are bled and I can't wait to take it for a drive tonight. @ hicas_posse: Rob I'll try and take some pics today but it's pretty hard to get close to. We'll see how we go. Cheers Mark

Hi guys, I have a proposal for the NSW members out there. I was just about to donate $50 to SAU/Prank in appreciation for all the help/time saved/money saved by SAU and SAUers. Then I thought, how about a Sydney tool library. No nothing like you'd find in Fyshwick, I mean automotive tools that you can borrow for the week/weekend/etc. We could charge a small fee (few gold coins?) when you borrow something and put it towards expanding the library and some back to the NSW club. Sign out, sign in, you break it, you bought it. Tools purchased would remain property of the club and could be taken out to club events for club use. The tools I thought would be handy to borrow would be those rarer, one-off ones like a 400ftlb torque wrench or a steering wheel puller or a timing light (and so on). We could create the library based on a call for donations and perhaps a little financial love from the club. I would be more than happy to throw in $50 of appreciation money plus I have a spare metric socket set (10-19mm) plus misc tools that were going on eBay but could easily go to a NSW tool library. I'm in Blaxland and would be happy to be the custodian/'librarian' but I imagine somewhere more central like Castle Hill or Homebush might be preferable. For NSW members that are outside the Sydney area, perhaps pay for postage each way and the tools could be mailed out? On the unpleasant note of potential theft, NSW execs already have names and addresses plus you'd sign for the tool(s). Anyways, I'd love to hear some feedback on the idea, positive or negative, and would be happy to do the legwork because I really appreciate what this collection of Skyline brains has done for me. Basically, if it weren't for SAU, I couldn't afford to maintain my GTR and I'd like to give something back. Mark

Hi Rob For what it's worth, here are the pics from the RB26 manual. My fan belt is playing up when cold, but I can't loosen the alternator pulley - just keeps on turning - have to work out where to lock it.

Please let me know if you decide to separate or if you have a buyer who only wants the driver side. Cheers!

R32 Gtr Blowing Blue Smoke On Idle.
cowie165 replied to yellowsubmarine's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I changed plugs on a family member's Toyota a few weeks ago and one of the plugs came out covered in engine oil. Is this blown rings? I'm keen to learn more, I meant to post but forgot all about it! Cheers -
Good quality double sided tape from someone like 3M will do the trick. Visit a local paint shop and ask what they use/who their supplier is. If you try Supercheap Auto etc. tape then they are not likely to last the distance due to heat, moisture, knobs pulling at them, etc. Cheers, hope this helps. Tape is fine for metal and plastic.

is that mail-order or did they take a trip there?

Isn't it: BNR32 = 2.6L plus 4WD HNR32 = 2.0L plus 4WD HCR32 = 2.0L in RWD

Rebuild Pics, Etc For You All....

Thanks mate. I asked because I'm a keen bean and would love to do something like this myself but a bit too apprehensive to consider DIY just yet What you've said is very encouraging. -
Rebuild Pics, Etc For You All....

Stuart what's your automotive background dude? Do you go to TAFE or just have the manual and a determined attitude? Mark -
Re: G-sensor ECU input for R32 GTR. The last few pages are the relevant section. It's the Autospeed article on the R32 from years back. R32.PDF

I feel for you Jason. Dude you must be like me putting your fingers in your ears singing to yourself trying to ignore current prices. My R32 was Y1.1 plus the respray and panel repairs when it arrived! And then you see beautiful late model R32's with sensible mods going for less than I'm out of pocket. I'm glad the car is so much fun to drive and work on! Eases the pain

After a quick look it's actually a 2.5Gb monster. If you're on dialup, PM me your address and I'll burn it onto DVD+R for you dude. But then you'll be obliged to help guys that ask for help! Let me know. I don't have the .torrent anymore so can't help with that

R32 Gtr Running Costs: My Experience!
cowie165 replied to benm's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
18months later and well into 5 figures spent. Good point re: paying off vs. modifying and I drive a 1989 model with an original engine... tick tick tick... -
11th sounds great. One please.

Adam what was the rebuild cost for yours please? I have a Nismo Twin Plate that was previously installed incorrectly and therefore wore out quickly, so the Exedy guy told me. He quoted me a figure to rebuild and was wondering what you paid (or what Jim's ballpark is) please.

Thanks guys

FAST is the Nissan parts database. It's a 1.5Gb download via a torrent and it installs as a 5Gb(ish) monster. It has part listings and part diagrams for all models of Nissans. If you see guys asking for a FAST lookup for a particular Japanese VIN, it is because you can enter the VIN and FAST will display the vehicle data that corresponds. Handy for checking original colours and trim plus checking for auto->manual conversions as well.

Hi Ben My car hasn't been started for over a week so I'm keen to come down if just for the drive. Sorry to be a pain, but what are the times again please? And you take the first WSID turn-off? That's the one for spectators and the second one (where everyone met for the SAU Drag Day in Nov) is for competitors?
-
Yep, fair point. I know what it's like. They were behaving themselves so do not deserve jokes.

Nothing would piss you off more than writing off a car when it's not your fault. My wife and I wrote off out Liberty in October due to another driver's negligence. RIP R32.

I'll take the centre air vents... j/k I hope that wasn't NismoGirl's R32 with the Neo motor and the WRC STi blue respray. Does she live in NSW?
