Hi Chris Most people (and some workshops!) drive down to Sydney for a tune. Take your wife/gf and make a day of it That said, there is a guy at Port Stephens who is a straight shooter If you PM DiRTgarage I'm sure he can help you out and would definitely be a good person to take a potential purchase to for a check-over. He's at Salamander Bay.

Of course, sorry mate. I forgot about all the other expenses - my whole car was being resprayed so it was almost drop-in-the-ocean stuff with an extra $600. GTR panels would be very very nice. Keep the S2 front bar and really confuse people

Hi Ben I recently changed all pads and I also noted that the rears required a LOT more effort to turn than I expected. I shrugged it off as just one more thing I don't understand. I hope/assume it's normal...?

I DIY'd in my 180SX and would be happy to help if I can. Perhaps you could duck in to JustJap and have a look at an R33 cluster and see if it has the trim pot so you can adjust yourself. With hindsight though, if I faced the same problem again, I would just go and buy the correct profile tyres. Cheers dude, good luck sorting it

When I lived in Newcastle I used one of those 'Dentbusters' guys to remove a dent following a dog v. Subaru incident. (The dog actually charged from across the street, crossed traffic, and rammed the driver door when we were at 50kmh!?)(and he picked himself up and ran home too!) The Dentbuster/Dentextractor guy was very very good. Paintless dent repair took out the large dent plus two small dents from guys opening their doors into our car. All up was about $100 iirc. So, maybe take it out to one of those guys for a quote first - might save some hassle?

Just for the record, Nissan can provide an R32 GTR rear quarter for around the $600 mark. I see yours in an R33 but it's worth keeping in mind - rather than have the hassles plus you have a straight/dent free rear quarter.

Manual Gearbox Issue
cowie165 replied to R32GTS4's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Phil My symptoms were the same. It felt like reverse wasn't even there. SteveL helped me out and was 100% with his diagnosis. The problem is most likely to be the spring (32185) has broken/fallen out and then part 32183 mechanically locks you out of reverse just like you have described. The lockout operation/type is common to most Nissan gearboxes so you don't really need to fuss over a 'performance' gearbox guy. That said, if you take it to a gearbox guy rather than a mechanic, you'll probably get away with it cheaper. The guys I went to (have the number/address if you're in Sydney) removed the crossmember and were able to slide the gearbox back a little - just enough to access the reverse check assy on the passenger side, sorta behind the front pipes. As the guys were able to move the gearbox rather than take it out, the cost was three hours labour ($165) rather than a gearbox R+R ($350+). I hope this helps dude. The good news is that it's a fairly easy/painless fix (as Steve said) and the guys that would like to rebuild your gearbox in toto are probably just short on jobs at the moment. Cheers Mark -
Those thieves are crazy! Every day they drive your car they run the risk of being caught!? Good luck dude

 If it's in the for sale section with a price on it, it's for sale. The seller has indicated that an offer of $42,000 would be accepted.

Lighten up guys. SAU is about enjoying your automotive hobby and not giving people a hard time. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but that doesn't necessitate a post please because not everyone is interested. Let the man get on with selling his car.

I apologise for the brevity, but not much to say -
$345 R+R plus parts on top of that. I much prefer the sound of that plus the chap that I spoke to seemed to know his stuff. Cheers SK. James Gear Box Factory 80-82 Rosedale Ave., Greenacre 9790 2342

Hang on, I've found Gear Box Factory at Greenacre. Found it browsing as the search didn't like the space in gearbox. Cheers! But if you have a contact person, that'd be great too.
-
Thanks SK. All About Gearboxes at Girraween apparently will ONLY do a full rebuild - not interested in taking a look/repair as required. Do you have contact details for Gearbox Shop please? There is no listing in white or yellow pages. Do you have a contact person there please?

Different strokes for different folks. As has been said, both cars are built for a different purpose. You need to work out what kind of driving you'll be doing and how you like to do it. ie. you don't buy a Barina to tour Australia and you don't buy a 740i just to get you to work and back, if you follow. To the guys that have driven/owned the z-cars, is the driver visibility and handling suited to someone learning the ropes? I would have expected poor vis out the rear glass and the zed being a bit of a handful when reverse parking/carparks/etc.? As mentioned, an N/A S13 might be a good option...? They don't look real flash but are cheap to buy, cheap to run and easy to drive.

Gav if you visit amazon.com and search for 'Japanese' you'll find LOTS of resources to teach yourself. Pimsleur is regarded as one of the best but is expensive unless you grab the .torrent. Another one that came highly recommended, that I'm going to try once I go back to work, is "Learn In Your Car: Japanese". Positive reviews on amazon.com and as it's all verbal you're practicing your pronunciation and hearing how it should sound, rather than guessing from reading a book. Also, a lot of reviews/forums/etc. have caned Romanji saying that it is a huge crutch and a waste of time that will only result in poor pronunciation. There are a few books out there titled "Teach Yourself Japanese Without Romanji!" as a lot of teachers believe it to be a handicap. Cheers Mark

Well guys need a chance to reply You may have better luck in the car audio forum. The smallest battery for a standard audio setup would be around 400CCA's. Have you tested the car on the multimeter to see when it is draining? That might answer whether you have an odd light staying on whilst its parked or whether the audio is draining the battery faster than it can charge?

Transmission Fluid
cowie165 replied to stuartlaw_78's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks Richard, thanks Ben! I've spent almost all day ringing around trying to sort out what to do with my stuffed gearbox The guy I'd like to use will only do a rebuild, one guy doesn't seem to want the business, and another guy says he would just end up sending it out to a specialist like the first guy! :angry I'm hoping to find somewhere that will do an exchange. Need it fixed fast cause I'm running out of DIY holiday time -

For RB26 gearbox, I was just quoted $480 R+R and $1520 for the reco kit. Actually, the reco kit was $1100 or so, I guess the balance was labour to actually reco the gearbox. Far out.
