  1. Hey Rylan As the driver of an R32 now nicknamed "Rusty", I (as politely as possible) suggest another R32. If you're happy to import a hangar queen, then it may be ok, but there's probably a lot more rust around. Hats off to Ben for being honest and upfront about the condition of the vehicle. Imho save yourself the hassle and look for another vehicle - even one in Aus? I haven't had my rust (sills) repaired as yet - the wallet needs to graze a while longer to fatten itself up. Cheers Mark
  2. 89 AE86 Corolla Seca 93 RPS13 88 AE82 Corolla Seca 02 Liberty RX 96 ZZR250 94 ZXR750 89 BNR32 Good to see other bike riders Still have the Liberty and the Skyline
  3. Now someone else can enjoy trying to get parts for an import....
  4. Hi dude. Firstly, search the SAU for sale section and look at the R32's for sale. Then, go to a dealership and drive a few cars to see how they feel and get an idea for the condition etc. Don't be a tyre-kicker to private sellers. Go and see a dealer. Even if they don't want you to drive one (just be polite) then you can at the very least have a look at a few. I assume Brisbane has a Parramatta Rd equivalent? Don't expect the kms to be genuine. If logbooks aren't available, assume they're not. If you're serious about buying a car, please take the time to look around and purchase wisely. Once you've looked around, you wont need to ask if a car is worth $xx,xxx because you'll have a very good idea about what you can buy for your money. Don't buy because someone else says something is a good deal dude. Buy because YOU know it's a good deal (and you'll also be able to spot a rip-off a mile away) M-Spec has bigger brakes and climate control afaik. Try searching SAU. Cheers! Mark
  5. I used 12mm spacers with speaker depth of 70mm. You still need to bevel the top edges of the spacer to make sure the door doesn't bend when you put it back on. If you're using a 12mm spacer, I found replacing the 4 original bolts with 4 1/4" x 20mm roofing bolts make the job so much easier. The original bolts are *just* a touch too short. Mark And great work Gordon! PS My thumb is double jointed.
  6. I was under the impression that you're able to sue the driver at fault for your financial loss and any applicable medical-type expenses?? Mark
  7. Hey Scott, I've read in the past that the guides can be adjusted in and out. The manual concurs. If there is still a little foam left on the guide, could you adjust it out to relieve pressure? As far as replacing goes, Mr Nissan is prob the only worthwhile plan. If you suss out a part number, please post it! Cause mine are doing the same but now the glass rattles a little and I need some new ones so I can adjust it back, snug against the window. Mark
  8. Hi mate! Sadly, no. I was all set to do it on Sunday, then realised I still haven't sourced a torque wrench. There's one on eBay atm which I might place a bid on. Btw, do your pads actually touch the disc? Mine are that hard up against it you can hear the rubbing when driving at low speed (<60 with window down). Not sure if that's normal or not. I haven't ever heard it on any other cars I've owned/driven. Mark
  9. Well I'm about 3 months behind Lucien and Gordon, and just ahead of you.... Changed brake lines to the Maltech braided ones. Changed brake fluid. Have DBA rotors sitting on the garage floor. Have caliper overhaul kit (seals +springs) on the garage bench. Still trying to find gearbox oil. Waiting (4 weeks so far) for Hankook K104s. Then I'm going to have a go at covering the pod filters with an alum box. So, I've barely stretched the cars legs cause I have a few things to do first! Between working full-time, studying part-time, two kids and no relos (read: babysitters) within 300kms, it's slow going What's on your list??? It IS your thread after all
  10. As a parent, those 'Parents with prams' parks are gold. Having to push one kiddo and walk the other across rows of parks just to a CRX in the pram spot is irritating to say the least. It seems that a lot of people operate within their own universe where their life is completely independent from the rest of society and free from consequence. Like when you're walking through the shopping centre shoulder to shoulder and some schmuck stops dead right in front of you cause he isn't sure if he wants Starbucks or Gloria Jeans.
  11. Hey man, great lookin' car, good luck with the sale. Oh and free bump That's the post that pisses me off the most. I don't see the point of public praise for an item for sale. As if a potential buyer will be persuaded to purchase a particular car just because [insert username here] says it is a 'mad' car. Thanks Bass, I've been wanting to get that out for a while now. I think that most guys here are on a budget and will try to get a good deal. For me, I've always paid 90-100% of the advertised price. When you want a part, there are great deals on SAU, and fussing over $10, $20, $30 is a waste of time. Mark
  12. I had the whole front apart today. I was kinda just stuffing around - setting up the licence plate so it doesn't need to be bent, having a look at the intercooler hoses, losing screws into the bowels of the ducting at the front, and so on. Hey your dash is lifting where mine is! And my wipers came off the boat kinda shiny/polished like yours too. My girl is going great, though after pulling the front off today it turns out she has been in a front end smash The RH headlight doesn't fit as nicely as the LH and the front bar support has stickers on it that have yet to fade... so the saga goes on. That said, I love working on the car myself. Who'd have thought I learn DIY mechanic on a car that was $110,000 when new! [/thread hijack] Cheers Heath, now you need to lower the ride height whilst your replacing bushes... And the pics look great! Mark
  13. After a 4WD backed into my 180SX, the insurance company paid the smash repair $1700 to: Repair serious damage to one fender (v hard to get parts for grey imports then) Paint bonnet, nose, fenders and blend paint up both doors. It may not be as expensive as you expect, but you'll get what you pay for. Mark
  14. There is one for sale atm, and just wondering if: 1. It'd fit 2. It'd be worthwhile (assuming you are planning on replacing) The price is $50. Never thought of it. Mark
  15. *SOLD* Fibreglass copies. Primed, never fitted. JustJap have vents for $145. Priced to sell. $80 delivered (Aust.). Mark
  16. Hey Chris! yeah mate got back two weeks ago, then saw you're selling your car!? Say it aint so! Thunderbolt's Way is the road the goes from the Pac Hwy, about 10mins north of Raymond Terrace, and eventually (4hrs later) pops out on the New England Hwy about 10mins south of Armidale. There are a few towns on the way for fuel etc. The views are awesome, the half-day turnaround point is a lookout that is absolutely brilliant. I wish I could find the pics I took last time It's frequented by bike riders, because of the fun you can have without exceeding the speed limit. When I last went it was good scenery, fun corners, fairly regular overtaking points (went past a few trucks/grandmas) and light traffic. Mark
  17. Apparently white wasn't available as a factory colour until 91 or something like that. So if you're looking at an 89 car that is white, the different colour in the engine bay should come as no surprise. Mark
  18. Your car has finally arrived!? Inconceivable!! Great stuff Pentae, and about time too. I hope the runs as smooth as it looks, go out there and break the "89's are dungers" stereotype. Cheers dude, Mark PS Those centre vents are $125... The manual has a pic and info about poking a screwdriver down in between the vents to pop off a few plastic catches and then the vent *should* be able to be prised out...?
  19. Anyone up for a drive up Thunderbolt's Way one weekend? You can make it a half-day or full day. Great corners, nice length/duration, a few nice straights here and there, and a few places to stop on the way for a leg stretch.
  20. How generous A 33% discount on a new item isn't enough!? Far out dude, get serious.
  21. The Redline online price is $124 for the 1 gallon (3.8L) container. http://www.redlineoil.com.au/product-ordering.asp
  22. I cleaned it up a fair bit last night, trying to see what may have been the prob. Thanks again Mark edit: After looking at the workshop manual, I don't think the leak is from the steering rack. It's coming from the boot on the axle, on the gearbox side. Could it just be axle grease spilling out?
  23. Hi Linton, yep it's a GTR. The fluid is pretty thick, I guess it feels like butter that has been out of the fridge for an hour or two. It has splattered over most of the parts down there, but hasn't made it to the guard or inside the rim. I'll see if I can bum a digicam from my neighbour, that would speak the proverbial 1000 words. Mark
  24. Thanks Gordon, thanks Tommyk, I'll do a few searches and see what I see. Cheers
