Its weird how a lecture series can go off topic. Any questions relating to islam, or misconception, misunderstandings, please feel free to email me. Ok, this is getting out of hand. Lecture series is on July 8 and 9, those who want to come and learn about Islam can come. But as i said, dont judge the actions of Muslims and assume this is 'Islam'. Judge islamic according to its Scripture (the Quran). Serbia - bosnia war: I think its best if we lread the findings of historians and NATO. In regards to your cousin: with all honesty man, i don't wish this upon anyone. Wether its my worse enemy, or a guy's son who has just killed a member of my family. No innocent person deserves their life to be taken. But pls don't assume that this is the view of every Muslim or something.

I cannot stop you from acting the way you are. But believe me, you are only degrading yourself man. Why would you get upset at a seminar aimed at informing people about other beliefs. No one's gonna hold a gun to your head and brain wash you. I would ask for you to show respect please.

I don't mean to be rude, but you say your a christian, and you go to church twice a year. Do you believe in your religion and scripture? All of the above is in the bible. And if you are a christian - then Jesus (Peace be upon him) is the best example for you to follow.

Definition of Jihad: 'To struggle' If jihad (a struggle) came to me - i would not be a man if i did not stand up and fight for what i believe. I was born and raised in Australia, therefore, there is no Jihad for me. No ones coming to my personal space and threatening me. But if you look at bosnians (and this is the view of the non muslims/historians) they were attacked, tortured, raped and killed for what reason? NO reason at all. If this is the type of jihad your referring to, then I support that without a doubt, i would send all my money to assist these people to defend themselves. We live a comfortable land safe ife here in Australia (Thank God). But we need to step out of our shoes and into the shoes of others to really understand what situation they are in. Regarding the palestinians for example (suicide bombers). If you were to come home and see your house bulldozed, your wife and kids buried dead under the rubble, then you went to your parents house and seen the same thing there. (For what reason - only because they are muslims and are standing up for their rights). Answer honestly- besides becoming mentally unstable - what would you do? You dont have the arms as those attacking you. All they can do is strap themselves with bombs. Like i said, I am a Muslim born and raised in Australia. I have 2 children, and i try to teach them what is right and wrong. And kindness is an essential role of a Muslim. But when it comes to speaking the truth there are no buts about it. We cant seem to understand because we havent been faced with these hardships. To end it all, i do agree there are muslim who are 'extremists' and their actions are against Islam and i completely disagree with them. But this also comes with other religions.

[Leviticus 11:7-8] Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy "And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass." [Deuteronomy 14:8] A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

You obviously haven't read the Quran for you to make such statements. The Quran is not based on the old testament. It may contain similar stories, views in some area's as the old testament. As muslims, we believe the Injeel (Bible) was sent to Jesus (Peace be upon him) but that scripture which was sent to Jesus is no longer what is called the Bible today. We believe the bible today (with its many versions) has been tampered and altered by man. To cut it short, i don't wish to get into a dialogue, this is not the right place for it, if you read upon Islamic history, you will see that non-muslims who lived in an Islamic state were free to practice their religion and worship their god/s. When you make statements against 'Islam', please quote from its scripture (Quran) and not from certain practices of some governments. In regards to 'muslims' converting to christianity - this may be so, but you can count them with one hand. Islam is and has been for a long time the fastest growing religion in the West. Since 9/11 the number of people accepting islam has increased dramatically. Why? Anyway, purpose of this thread was not to force my 'fanatic' views onto others, but was to advertise a lecture series that will take place. Yes Islam forbids Pork. But if you want me to get into nitty gritty details, so does Judaism and Christianity (its in the bible)

Saff_cossie, When you said Indian, and if he did have a turban on his head - most likely he would have been a Sikh (not a muslim), regardless what he was (muslim or not) - you are right, its common sense to have consideration to fellow passengers. I personally, try to be a devout Muslim. I have never changed my ways for anyone, and those who know me, respect me for who i am. As a Muslim, i do not drink (alcohol), smoke, swear, lie, cheat or decieve others. Now this may sound corny, but regardless of being a muslim or not, these characteristics should be in everyone - no offense to those who drink, smoke, swear and lie and cheat But unfortunately the misconceptions about Muslims and Islam is always in the media, and this tends to stick to the common individuals mind. I dont know how the speaker will deliver his talk, and what area's he will cover. All i know is he is from Texas and has George Bush's accent It will be an interesting evening, and would be good if non-muslims attend. Will give you a clearer understanding of Islam (not muslims). As you know, you cannot judge a religion according to its followers. There are muslims out there who do the wrong thing and things are quickly pointed to Islam. Just like there are christians, jews, buddhists, hindu's etc who do wrong things - but does not mean this is what their religion teaches them. Regards, Husnu.

Being a Muslim, i know that a lot of non-muslims have misconceptions about Islam: Are we terrorists? Do we oppress our women? Do we want to kill everyone that is not a muslim? The list goes on and on For those interested, there is an upcoming Lecture series in Melbourne. Lecture will be given by a former Christian preacher from Texas.
