  1. What a day. Front bearings are on the way out (esp drivers side) so after checking , double checking, cross-referencing I settled on HA590125 Timken bearings and hubs (took three weeks to get here). Went for the set so i don't have to muck about with getting hubs pressed out. Also got a set of RDA slotted rotors and pads. The bad: After 45 minutes I got the drivers side bearing out and lo and behold the Timken set does not fit the bore is 6mm too big. lots of swearing. The good: RDA rotors and pads have made a hell of a difference, I've only put about 20km on em after bedding in but wow didnt think it was gonna be this much difference. Now to play the return the bearings to the US and order another set game.

  11. @AussieMate101 Lived in Melb for years, driven in Syd countless times, Perth has traffic , traffic jams and bogans on the road

  12. Pondering , what is a bigger farce the AUS election or the US one ? They both seem to be a badly written movie

  13. woohoo , got it all done. The cluster globe was not burnt out , someone had been in that cluster before , the track on the PCB was worn away / cracked in one spot, soldered that and tested on bench all working. Biggest issue was re-calibrating the needles as I had to strip the PCB out. Radiator was a bit of a pain, but all done, the old top tank started to come apart in my hands, I'm genuinely surprised it had not gone bang. One more burp tomorrow morning and a bay wash, hope nothing else breaks for a few months, I need to get started on the mods.
  14. So I finally get around to doing a few things today. Replacing a burnt out globe in the cluster, its only the shifter position but it pisses me off at night. Replacing the weeping radiator. Just ordered one from Natrad $260 inc!!! Bursons wanted $465 (for the same thing). Pickup at 1pm and then the fun begins.
  15. Till about 3 weeks ago I didn't bother stalling up for more than 1-2 seconds , have been and still am very happy with general pedal response coming of the brakes. However bout 3 weeks ago I was waiting at a very tricky roundabout and stalled up for longer with foot flat ...... damn!! the grin I had! back end lost traction front scrambled for grip and the darn thing shot off like never before. Car is stock except constant high boost, brake mod and trans cooler. This of course has resulted in a special kitty being formed for serious mods to happen. It is (to me anyway) exceptional how well these things get off the line.
  16. My other half says a sofa wont fit, I now have proof!!! She will eat her words
  17. So seems Palmer was always a true politician I.e. a lying sack of shit ....those poor workers

  18. Little late to the party, we went over to SA end of last year with 2 suitcases and a cooler. Way back was a little different, both our families loaded us with stuff to take back. Does not look like much. But its heavy - those poor springs Made it across the Nullarbor with out a hitch.
  19. After putting up with a low idle for a week , yesterday took out throttle body to wash out with carb cleaner, gave it a good clean - hooray problem sorted. Went for a good long drive last night to give it a good squirt, blew the passenger globe ! WTF its 6 months old. Picked up a HID kid at 11, dismembered the front end and took the lights out. All complete by 13:30 While putting it all back together there is a whiff of coolant found that rad is weeping just near the cap . so now new rad time as soon as I order and it arrives.
  20. Ahh thats right you had handbrake cable clanging like I did, remember being under the car taking a photo before 6am You are welcome , FWIW i used general purpose grease each time I "fixed" a clicky shaft and no issues. Other than being really annoying there is no real damage that can be done to the shaft from the click. Just surprised nissan let it happen to a range of cars / years
  21. I've done this on a clicking R34, S15, V35 , J31 Maxima and lastly the M35. Clicky clacky goes away. http://www.notre350z.com/forum/files/uploads/dold/1207422654_ClickClack.pdf Shaft doesn'tt need to come out , just push it back clean and grease.
  22. Flushed the trans over the weekend, ohhh back to smooth shifts. Installed a trans cooler, managed to pop a pin hole in one of the pipes! , brazed and all good. Flushed attesa pump , and then managed to strip/round the filler plug on the transfer case , whoever done it up last time is an asshat. Gonna hunt a new one down Saturday. Ordered hub rings for the new wheels , got a slight vibration under load from the rear, hope they sort it out.
  23. You know you have had a little much wine when you try to turn up the TV with the aircon remote

  24. Ive been thinking of the shit kit , this however looks a lot more involved than when I shimmed my old Soarer's trans.
  25. Seems I have many questions lately and not many answers to share. Last time I did the drivers side front CV boot I had a leak coming out behind flange on the diff (not from the seal but from between the body). I took it all apart and cleaned and applied some grey sealant to the metal gaskets. Stopped the leak no spots on the ground. Did a service couple weeks ago and noticed a weep coming from the same place, so im thinking it has to be the O-Ring. Does anyone know the part number ? Is is the same as PN 38543 on this ? It does not drip on the ground at all , but I like to head things off before they become a real issue. As always thank you all for any help
