  1. If I can do it on mine without too many problems, i'll look into doing it for other models. Might have to run some group buys Doing a SAUVic run driver training thing tomorrow so will have a squizz at some of the other cars there and see if there's much difference.....
  2. Strut clearance isn't a problem, well not with the GTR anyway. I'm using new struts, not something pilfered of another car so using exactly whats needed. Their about the same size as the ones on the boot but much thinner. The ones on my commodore's bonnet for example are about twice the size, but the reason being is different location and different set-up. The bracket will hopefully clear, thats sort of the whole strength problem, it would be easy to make one that would clear but it would be too weak, hopefully one thats strong enough will fit.
  3. Moneyspool FTW!
  4. lol nobody picked up my mistake
  5. Am looking at buying one of these at the moment as well. IMO the pro series one is a bit over the top for my application anyway. The A1000 and A1000-6 will both happily handle 1000hp which is more than I will ever want for a track car...not really a drag kinda person. I'm going for the A1000 because you can get a bit more flow through it later if required and you can put in adapters to fit to the size of the lines you are using now -6 to -10 etc. And it looks prettier too Another cheaper option also is the compact one, p/n is 13105 will not handle as much as the A1000 (even though says up to 1000hp) I have been told there happy to about 800hp. hmm bit cheaper buying from the states though, the australian aeromotive importer is just up the road from me and I have been quoted 315 for an A1000. Might be able to get them a bit cheaper if we are buying a couple.....
  6. It's one thing to talk about doing this to an XR6T which I presume is what is being discussed somewhere else and someone has said it can be easily done to a GTR. But there's one difference I think were all forgetting, A GTR is actually a good/rare car and ontop of that they aren't produced anymore, anyone who even thinks about butchering one just to prove a point is retarded. I'm happy for you to try it with an XR6T cos their becoming more popular than vl's and their still rolling of the production line, hell you could probably get most of the required parts at my local supermarket......
  7. Isn't this like general knowledge that everyone knows.....
  8. ^^^^ lol
  9. Ok went a visited a few places today to get an idea of how this can be done. The struts aren't a problem, I can get them in the right size and also get them gassed to different pressures for different weight bonnets, ie GTR and GTST models etc. and whatever fittings are required also. The problem is working out a way to connect them without drilling or retapping anything. As far as I have been able to find the little balls that they attach to only come in one screw in size which is too big to go into the hole from one of the guard bolts. Now the easiest way for me to get around this is to drill and retap the hole but that obviously not as easy for some people. Re-threading the bolts might be an option but there hardened steel so might not work too well will give it a go and see anyway. As for the other end a bracket will need to be made up that bolts onto one of the hinge bolts, the ball is gonna need to be welded on due to clearance issues and making this bracket strong enough also could be an issue as due to this design alot of force is exerted on that area. Will let you know how I go should have a proto-type made up next week

  11. Hmmm I like this idea too....might have to have a play around myself and see wht I can come up with.
  12. kaz - hasn't that been a law for everyone like for ever? I thought it was like a $50 on the spot fine for not having your license on you when driving??? I don't see what everyone is complaining about the laws haven't actually changed if you already have your p's...and if you are on the new system the only cars i can think of off the top of my head that you wouldn't be able to drive would be the little turbo lasers and exa's and stuff, and a commodore has more power than them anyway so meh.....on;y real difference is a bigger fine if you get caught. Anyway there are always ways around it, you can get 200rwkw out of an externally stock v6 n/a commodore engine so meh P.S. So good not to be on P's anymore
  13. Hmmm might have to add this to my list of bits. Anybody know of a manafacturer appart from superpro that make the bushes?
  14. Doubtful, if your running 0 gauge to your amp it's probably got a fairly hefty fuse on it. Internal fuel pump only needs a 15 and an external one maybe 30. I went to jaycar and bought relays with a blade fuse built in, makes it much more easier and works out cheaper than buying a relay and a fuse holder I did mine right to just before the plug, ie. took the lid and the plug of and cut it just before the plug, thinking about it it does seem like a bit of a waste to use 8gauge to the internal pump, the wire from the plug to the pump is only gonna be the pissy standard wire neway....still looks good though I suppose
  15. We use stuff called 'glassact' on the planes at work and it's by far the best stuff i have ever used, wouldn't know where to actually by it thought.....I thought rainx was more of a spray onto clean glass every now and then and it helps the water bead and roll off easier as opposed to being a cleaner??? Although I have to ask, you car still has the washer bottle in it, None of my cars still have it, always seems to be the first thing to go
  16. hmmm, thoughts that what it was....do you need them if you are running aftermarket ones, 700cc Sards to be precise....
  17. could always try them on....

I got mine when I was still on my p's.... :PBJ:
  23. Firstly, it has bushes/a bush? Where is it? Have seen a couple of refrences to a harder steering rack bush/solid aluminium ones, what are the benifits and are they a worthwhile mod for a track/street car?
  24. close enough, over 25 and you looooooooose it
  25. In vic I believe 25-40 over the limit is a loss of license, for 3 months......
