  1. system goes like this: standard pump - filter - surge tank - 044 - filter - Y block - twin entry rail - fpr and back to surge etc. Now my question is, I seem to remember reading somewhere that you need to have a check valve between the pump and the rail to stop fuel backfeeding the pump? Is the stock one built into the pump or located inside the tank cos I can't seem to find it externally? Also is one required on a 044 or does it have one built in......not even really sure if pumps have them built in, this has just been on my mind can't even remember where the idea came from and can't seem to find anything to answer it
  2. I'll get one also if someone can confirm it's what I need....
  3. Sounds like a rooted pump, if there is definatley power to it but it's not running might be time for a new one....
  4. As cubes said the backing plate could be loose or I have also heard of the relief valve getting stuck open and causing a similar problem. Either way sounds like you will need to pull the pump off and check it out....
  5. woo! 5 free kw's! Awesome day and as well a big thanks to RE for hosting the event! Such a pitty I couldn't have the R there but hopefully by the next one she'll be going strong and i'll be in it for max power not least
  6. So you'll be taking the prize for most power and i'll be taking the prize for least :sorcerer:
  7. I'll be there with the commodore no Chloe at this stage though, still chasing oil and fuel system bits Might not be able to make it there by 10am though, 12h shift friday night finishing at 7am saturday morning and another one saturday night
  8. dunno if someones mentioned this, i'm too lazy to read through the thread, but I bought one of those cd's of ebay like a year ago that have all the engine manuals etc. on them, from the UK I think and noticed when I started researching for my 25/30 build that the dohc guide was on it.....allbeit an older version but still.....
  9. Christian, i'll have take the pump, sent you a pm the other day
  10. ummm airshow....other countries do come..... lol 90, funneh, try more like 9......we might have 81 other ones but there probably in a shed somewhere broken..... yeh we'll get them when we get rid of our broken f-111's in 10years, and we'll probably buy them second hand of the US cos they have decided there too old and shit
  11. Airshow......... there were 4 f18's and a USAF kc10 tanker parked at tulla when I was last at work. Should see some more stuff this week too. I love working at the airport, didn't go to the motorshow but still saw most of the good cars that were there Still undecided about going to the airshow......
  12. lol it's not high dude, infact it's pretty spot on.....5.6kg/cm3 at 8000rpm. it just seems to climb fast and then level of, I suppose thats not such a bad thing really. although it's an n1 pump so it does flow more. Will be interesting to see if it comes up with similar figures under load. Anybody know when the relief valve opens?
  13. Isn't that what I am trying to do? trying to put an 33gtr oil pump (wide flange) on a Rb30 crank (narrow flange)?
  14. crap I got cut short, now you'll just have to wonder what else I said mwahahaha!

  15. POP!!!!!

there goes your sau comment cherry! OUUUCCCHHHH! did it hurt? I hope not...I reckon this is like the first comment anyone has left anyone or maybe i'm just slow. ooo you have 74 profile views so popular, I only have 2, thats like you and me :( well apparently this can only be 400 chars but it doesn't seem to have run out yet. or maybe 400 is more

  16. But coppers make a better spark. Platniums / iridiums etc. are ok for stock or na cars but i'd stick to coppers for anything forced induction or making decent power.
  17. Thankyou, someone who finally knows what they are talking about! I cant believe so many of you post up so much shit in such a simple topic, this is like the extreme basics even my mum knows. As munky said the pressure you should run in your tyres all depends on what profile they are. Find out what tyres you have and what size and do some research if you want an exact pressure to pump them up to, different manafacturers have different recomendations. As for wet and dry conditions it so makes no difference. Only time you might let them down a bit is when your on the track and they are getting the chance to get some heat in them.
  18. Ok just for you guys info. Got an external gauge hooked up today and just tested the pressure staticly neutral revving it. got the following readings: At start approx 50psi then drops down to 22-26 at idle. 2000rpm - 43psi 3000rpm - 60psi 4000rpm - 71psi 5000-8000psi - between 70-80psi If you want kg/cm3 divide by 14.2 Now I been told you want approx 10psi per 1000rpm and thats something to aim for with any engine of any age? now i am getting more like 20psi per 1000rpm dunno if this is just because it's under no load or its a turbo engine or what. Any ideas anyone. So guess i will be off to the nissan dealer tomorrow to try and get a new pressure sender and maybe a dash gauge if that doesn't work. Also just for the info the oil pressure relief valve on an RB26 and I am assuming all Rb engines is on the bottom of the oil pump and its a sump of job to get to....
  19. lol I like the apparently i'll be down there tomorrow might have to pay them a visit and see if they have a sender or how long it will take to get me one.
  20. Also interested, this is what I need to run an rb26 pump on an rb30 bottom end right?
  21. what nissan you go to? I'm in need of some bits, they sound like a good one for import bits. The one near me isn't even like a full nissan it's like a nissan/chrysler so i don't think they are gonna be too helpful....
  22. already got one of them, well got it from autobarn and the fittings are the prob, also got a speco one and have the same issue. Reading through some info around someone suggested it might be the pressure relief valve in the pump stuck open. Hope not though thats a sump off job to fix and i dunno if that can be done with the engine in, although looking at it even if i can't get the sump all the way out should be able to drop it down enough to get access to the relief valve. Am keen now to see what another gauge reads. ali-turko - will give you a ring tomorrow. might come borrow it for a couple of hours.
  23. hmmm nah can't really help you out sorry. if you had an rb26 I could What about trying a wreckers or finding someone in melb stripping one?
  24. post up a pick of the pipe, if it's the same/similar to any of the ones I got sitting round here there all yours.
  25. Ok as some of you know I have been having oil pressure wowes <---(is that a word?). I want to hook up an external mechanical gauge to check the pressure readings against the stock one but I have tried two sets of gauges and fittings now and the supplied fitting won't go into the block, it's not a matter of they are the wrong fitting it's just the shape of the thread (I know that sounds like I dunno what I am on about, the stock sender has rounded threads the fittings have sharp ones), I don't want to force one in only to find a stock pressure sender won't go in after or leaks like a sive and I have to end up buying and fitting a new oil block thinggy. Anyone got a gauge and fittings they have used with an RB and would be willing to let me borrow for a couple of hours.....
