  1. I surley can't be the only one who has given my car a girly name...then again maybe I am oh she's called Chloe
  2. Would imagine it goes back to the start, to get caught a fourth time though you would have to have more money than sense......
  3. I don't think it normally works like that, ie. they take the car of you on the spot. First offence the car gets clamped on the side of the road, second offence you get a letter and you have to take the car to the closest police station by a certian date(think it can also work this way with the first offence) and for them to actually take the car of you (third offence) they have to take it to court etc. so it would be a lengthy process from the time of being caught to the time of loosing the car......Think the story is probably a little made up by someone As for speeding offence I think it was 45km or more over the limit for it to be a hooning offence
  4. I bought my car a few months ago from a guy in QLD, it's had alot of work done to it but it is exactly what I wanted so I lucked out. Looking at it from the sellers point of view though it is never as good with modified cars, what I paid for mine with approx 20g's of work done to it within the last year I could have paid MORE for a dead stock one here in Melb. My advice, if you aren't in a rush to sell it put it up for sale as is, it might just be exactly what someone is looking for, if it doesn't sell put it back to stock and sell all the goodies of individually. In the long run though you will definatley get more money the latter way though.
  5. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=111401 Might be some help.
  6. aren't trailer lights big and square? Have a look in any auto store they should have various kinds of side indicators, there smaller and look much better, can get altezza ones as well if you want some bling If you can find the bolt on type there easy to install, the hardest part is soldering on the wires. Otherwise just cut a suitable hole with a dremel for the clip in ones. http://timmus.com/gallery/displayimage.php...um=1&pos=44 Thats a pic of mine, you can see them on the outboard side of the side vents...
  7. Yup, Stock indicator lights are on the front bar. I have different ones on mine although still a standard front bar, they just have bolts on the back of them and you drill a hole in the bar and put a nut on the other side to hold them in. I have seen alot of people use side indicators of various cars for there front bar indicators, just pick your style, cut a suitable hole in the bar for them to clip into and use the same wattage bulb as the originals.... I was at one point going to reroute my indicator wires to the parkers and put orange globes in so I could have a 'clean' front bar )don't need parkers there a waste of time anyway ) but never got round to it.
  8. If you can find it (not sure what shops to buy it, we have it at work) but 3M have a product called Goo remover it's in a red can, it's the shit for removing anything sticky from anything As for forwarding the bill to vicroads no I doubt it will work but it's worth a try
  9. Thought I might just put this up for future refrence for people, have finally got my gauges installed and working. A few notes for anybody else who might be having problems with electrical gauges. What the wires go to: - Red – Goes to a constant 12V source, I wired mine into a random line that happened to have a 10A fuse on it I found under the dash, think it might be part of the alarm - Black – Goes to a Earth - Orange – Goes to a 12V ignition source, I used the cigarette lighter (cos it's easy) this turns the gauges on and off - White – Goes to a 12V light source, I used the light around the cigarette lighter, this is so when you turn your lights on the gauge lights come on also. ***Note*** Can't remember which way round the White and Orange go, but just try it one way, turn the accessories on, if the gauges come on and the light behind them turns on/off with your parkers you got it the right way round, if not try it the other way This should be the same for all types of electronic gauges regardless of the 2 other colours, ie red and black will be +ve and -ve the other two will be on/off and backlight just have to work out which way the other 2 go . I had a problem with my gauge that the boost gauge wasn't reading anything, was just getting a flashing red light, this means that it isnt getting a reading from the sensor, after doing some checks I found that the wires were broken somewhere in the cable between the sensor and the control unit, so I had to rewire it and all works fine now. On a side note I didn't like the white light of the chrono gauges so I got some thick blue celophane and cut it to fit behind the face of the gauge, so it's held in place between the black case of the gauge and the faceplate with the numbers on it, so now it matches the rest of my dash lights
  10. It's an autobarn guy none of them know anything ok well some of them do maybe 1 or 2 but they are few and far between
  11. Not sure with piston engines but I know with turbine engines the sensor is generally on the scavenge side of the system, so between engine out and the cooler, it's said this indicates failure more quickly. Makes sense to me that it would work the same way with cars..... Measuring from a t-piece isn't the best solution as this creates a restriction in the flow, better if you can use an inline sensor.....
  12. And I thought getting parts for my car was hard, imagine having a one off
  13. can't find the amp, or where it went, there are just two metal boxes under the parcel shelf and the battery and it's bits and bobs. found the other end of the cable behind the headunit so sounds like a good enough explination for me now just gotta pull it out, hate having un-needed stuff in the car

    Skyline Prejudice

There are some upsides, I was sitting outside a club last night trying to find a friend and a couple of hotties were pretty unhappy when I wasn't actually interested in them only finding my friend I don't think you can really blame the general public for their hatred towards our cars, I remember 4 or 5 years ago crusing around in my mates FD, straight exhaust, to4z worked of it's tits, the car was and still is the loudest baddest dirtiest car i know of....and it was like being in a Ferrari people envied you. But since the government has pushed all the anti-hooning stuff so much any commodores on mags, imports and basically any other modified car have become "hoon" cars and hence the public hate them......Just one of those things, forget about it and remember for the simple reason they ridicule you without better knowledge your a better person than them
  15. Because you want to have the best grip possiable on the front for steering. Hence the reason you never put cheese cutters on the front either.
  16. Will these fit an RB26, I remember reading somewhere that the magnetic ones you get don't fit the 26's sump, are these the same or are there different parts for each?
  17. I have the exact same problem, but with a couple of chrono gauges I was told: one will be constant positive (red) one will be a switch to turn it on, ie. accessory line (one of the other 2) one will be a switch to turn on the backlights, ie. a instrument light (one of the other 2) one will be the ground (black) as to which is which I have no idea, as to where to find the switch and backlight feeds the good old ciggy lighter and the light around it are a good place to start Will just have to fiddle around with which wire goes to what, if the gauge light comes on when the car is on but lights are of you hooked em up the wrong way round
  18. Anyway....fishing around in my boot today wiring up my new highest of high quality $50 amp, I found a taped up bunch of wire with a cut of plug on it down the inside of the left hand guard, the wires go up through a hole in the top left corner of the boot near the strut brace (looking at it from behind). Can someone tell me where this normally goes and what it's for?
  19. I think they more target black listed cars/the more powerful ones 300Kw HSV's etc. I would have no reservations whatsoever driving a 33GTST or a soarer etc. but I am a little more cautious when I drive my GTR......still as I said before I think it come down to the discretion of the cop on the day.
  20. Work it out your allowed 125kw per tonne of car. and it goes of factory figures. Weather or not you get done for it...who knows what it depends on.....cops descretion? I have a friend who has been pulled over an uncountable number of times in his TT soarer and has been done for just about everything in the book except driving a high powered vehicle...
  21. I always remember my first official driving lesson with an racv instructor (i had had about a year of driving before that), but he said to me if he had his way, before anyone even got out on the road he would sit them in a car on a wet skidpan and tell them to go nuts. He reckoned majority of people have no idea where the limits of their car are, all they know is how to drive it in general from A-B and thats it. If they are in a situation for whatever reason where they need to regain control of their vehicle they have no idea how to. For a physical thing like driving people can only learn from experience, you can't tell them anything..... Although i do agree with 700HP-GTR33 as well, the fact the police have become invincible is bullshit, lets face it they can basically do whatever they want with no repremand whatsoever. Just my 2c....
  22. Ones boost ones water temp. It's not the actual wiring of the gauges, that easy. Cos they are electrical gauges the controller thing for them has a power harness which I am stuck on wiring up.
  23. I have a couple of HKS Chrono gauges I am currently putting in my car, I bought them second hand and they didn’t come with any instructions. I’ve got everything figured out except for where the 4 wires on the power harness go? Anybody else got these installed in their car or know where the wires go? The wires are coloured as follows: - Red – (I presume goes to a 12V source but does it need a constant 12V source or an ignition one?) - Black – (Earth) - Orange – (I think goes to the parking lamp signal) - White – (No Idea) Correct me if I am wrong on any of these but any help anyone can give would be much appreciated.
  24. Haha like that would ever happen I would be down for the driver training courses though. Might have to join SAU first though, don't worry i'll get round to it one day
