  1. I've been running it on Optimax, but i've also tried BP premium with the same result.
  2. Thanks guys. I will book it in and see how they go.
  3. Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has come accross this in the past and can offer some advice. My car was stock standard, and every once and a while (maybe 20% of the time i gave it a flogging) I could clearly hear the engine pinging all through the rev range. I later put a big exhaust and bleed valve to crank up the boost, and had it dyno'd and tuned to hopefully fix pinging. On the dyno it ran fine, but when driving it still pings about 20% of the times i floor it. Has anyone come accross something like this and can offer some advice as to likely causes? Thanks. (Skyline R33 GTS-T Series 2)
  4. G'day folks, Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good mechanic to work on my car in the Brisbane area? - Northside preferred. It's pretty normal stuff, like clutch/gearbox, changing timing belt and sparkies etc. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Hi guys, I've also got a similar problem with my gearbox.... moderate crunching into 2nd and 3rd, and when i'm moving slowly and change back to first gear, it vibrates a little. i'm thinking the clutch isn't disengaging fully. Any comments on how easy it is to adjust this? Is it something you can work out on your own having never done it before, or should i leave it to the experts?
  6. Hi Ben. I'm actually about to replace these bush's on the weekend. I noticed mine were leaking (standards are filled with silicon) so i just thought i'd replace while doing the front right shocky which was rooted. I'll let you know if it makes any difference to handling when i replace them. And yes you need a press, i tried bashing it out and no go, so it's a job for the experts to press out and in i think.
  7. Thanks for your input Cameron. Sounds like I should get the exhaust first. Are high-flow cats legal and are they a good investment? Regarding the pod filter, I read that unless they are isolated properly they will suck in hot air from the engine bay, so i thought i'd be better off just getting a higher flow replacement cartridge filter? Think that will give noticeable improvement? Anybody else have any comments?
  8. Hi all. I've been a SDU member for the last 4 months since i got my R33 gts-t, and have now made the switch to SAU after stumbling onto the site. I'm hoping to tweak my car a little over the next few weeks, and was after some advice from anyone with knowledge/experience: My car is completely stock at the moment, and I am considering up-ing the boost a tad for some cost-effective performance gain, so... 1) Will fitting a boost controller without doing anything else to the car be dangerous? I know people say you should increase intake and exhaust airflow when up-ing the boost, but i'm taking baby-steps so i'll probably do that stuff later. I'm thinking if i get a simple boost controller i'll use the factory guage and adjust boost up conservatively. 2) What is the best bang-for-your-buck boost controller around? a)Turbosmart gated manual controller with in-cabin missile switch b)Turbosmart E-boost electronic controller c)Greddy profec b II boost electronic controller d)Go Fast Bits dual stage boost controller e)Other? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
