So the car should be right for a while as long as its been well maintained and not too heavily boosted? If and when the time does come for a reco how much do they usually cost? Like for a reasonably comprehensive one? I just dont wanna buy it and realise a reco is gonna cost me an arm and a leg and find myself worse off

Ok I need some advice. I am considering buying a r33 series 2 with 150,000 kms for really, really cheap. As the kms are so high i have a few questions 1. Within 12-18months all going to plan (nothing breaking down etc) I would probably purchase a new rb25det and drop it in. How much would I be looking at for labour to do this? Are there any major problems that I should be aware of in doing this or is it just a matter of dropping in the engine? Would I be looking at the 5-6k mark incl labour? 2. With 150,000 kms is this going to be dicey driving around as a daily driver? I assume at this stage things will be wearing out left, right and centre? I do a fair bit of driving. What things should I look out for? Basically I just wanna know if it will be cost effective to do the engine swap and if the car will be reliable for use in the meantime. All help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about power...i have a mate with similar mods who was making 170kw+. I have never had it dynoed so i cant say for sure. All work was done by the previous owner but I do know he had it all done at Japlink motors in Haberfield. I think it was done about 18months - 2 years ago. Do not have receipts or anything though unfortunately as I neglected to get them from the previous owner. I have had it serviced at all the major services since Ive had it which is 60,000 and just about to go for the 70,000. Hope that helps

I honestly don't know...im pretty sure its all factory. Whether that helps or not?? So could it be a sparkplug problem? or is it something else?

Had a problem which has been going for a couple of months and is starting to annoy me. When i put my foot to the floor and the car revs really hard sorta towards the limit before I need to change gear the car starts to lurch forward and just choke. Usually the car will just keep going and going nice and smooth and continue to rev high. But lately it just keeps doing this. It is seriously affecting the performance and quality of the car's ride.

I might be interested. Any idea how this would be mounted on a r33? Would it connect to stock piping?
