  1. I collect that kind of thing, although to be honest I'm more deeply involved with older stuff. I've been interested in the Japanese Gr.A BNR32s since seeing them race in-period. A couple of good friends used to be race team mechanics at NISMO - so they occasionally come up with good stuff........
  2. Scans from the NISMO race prep manual and parts list for the works Gr.A BNR32s ( this section dated 1990 ). Wet sump, but quite different to stock:
  3. Jetwreck, Thanks for looking into this. Much appreciated. The original in the RICOH car was actually a type manufactured by VDO and sold by NISMO ( hence the NISMO 'RR' number in the kit list ) so it wasn't strictly a 'one-off' or a custom build just for the NISMO built cars. It was just a very plain black faced design with white numerals and a red needle, and I believe it had a hand-settable second needle too. I had a picture of the exact thing somewhere but I'm damned if I can find it now...... I'll just have to keep looking. Cheers. Alan T.
  4. It's a Nissan VRH35 ( 3496cc V8 DOHC twin turbo ) as fitted to the Nissan R89C Group C sports cars. This particular one was cut up and used as a 'display' engine after its race career ended.
  5. Yes, it passed from NISMO to ENDLESS's ownership after NISMO had stopped using it. At some point after that ( my guess around 1990 ) it started getting more and more modified, and ended up racing in the 'Grand National Stock Car' series with the cut out rear arches and box-type overfenders. Its final active race season was in 1998, in the ENDLESS blue paintjob with CASHIEW as the partner sponsor. It got cut about a little bit in its ex-Works life, but most of it is still there and saveable. The guy restoring it knows what he's doing, as he's an ex-NISMO race mechanic. The original type VDO boost gauge is one of those parts that seem like they should be easy to find, but turn out to be quite elusive.....
  6. I'm afraid it's not coming to OZ ( unless you pay for it to visit! ) as it's going to stay in enthusiastic Japanese hands. It will be a while before it's finished anyway. The VDO boost gauge seems to be quite difficult to find in this size. 52mm versions seem to be no problem, but I've struggled to locate the bigger version. I have an old NISMO number for it from the NISMO Gr.A kit list for the HR31 ( 24870 RR570 ) but even in Japan it's difficult to find them. I don't even know the corresponding VDO part number......... Thanks for the offer of help. Here are some more pics that might be of interest. Some of you may have seen a few of them before elsewhere:
  7. Apologies for reviving this thread with a long-shot 'Wanted' request....... The RICOH-sponsored works Gr.A GTS-R is currently undergoing restoration in Japan, and I'm searching for an 80mm VDO boost gauge ( 2 Bar reading ) for it. If anyone had any leads, I'd be very pleased to hear from them. Cheers! Here's a pic for your trouble. This was what was revealed under the 'Stock Car' series overfenders that the car was wearing when acquired:
  8. I was at the race, my friend. I posted quite a few details about it on the Ten-Tenths forum threads that I linked to on the UK GTR Register forum thread ( your 'contribution' was a lovely picture of yourself - thanks ), so if you didn't read the full threads then no wonder you haven't got the full story yet. You seem to be stating quite definitively that this one "doesn't count", and frankly I agree ( if you had read the threads you might eventually have got the point ). It's not a measure of anything is it? But if any of the NISMO built Gr.A R32s had pitched up in Australia in 1992 - under any circumstances - dipshit fanboys would be using it as positive proof of something - wouldn't they? Getting the point yet? I've said it before and I'm saying it again. YOU didn't know anything about this episode until you spotted me mention it, and you proceeded to call it "dribble". You've set out your stall and you don't seem like the kind of guy who's going to change his opinion of anything no matter how many facts get put before you - so carry on believing what you want to believe. A couple of people on THIS thread know what I'm talking about, so I'm at least happy with that.
  9. Are you quite sure that nobody from GMS was present - even if not 'officially'? I believe that some of the guys running the car at the INTER TEC race were from Gibson's. The point is that the car was/is a GMS-built car, and it ran in Japan. I always read people saying that "no Gibson-built car ran in Japan" - but it's not true is it? Of course it proves nothing in any discussion about the relative merits of Japanese-built Gr.A R32s vs Australian-built Gr.A R32s, and the 'more-money-than-talent' Thai owners / drivers were out of their depth, but it did happen and - as far as I can tell - you didn't know anything about it. So much for your "dribble" comment......
  10. That's a strange comparison. Why are you quoting the power figure for a totally standard S20 when the L28-based engine in the car in question is so highly modified? Talk about comparing apples to oranges. The S20 is hardly "fragile". It is certainly not "irreplaceable" or "gutless" either. Have you ever driven an S20-engined car?
  11. Hi Jim, The photo in question was taken on the grid of the TS support race at the 1969 Japan Grand Prix meeting. It is indeed a Works PGC10 ( 4 door ). Cheers, Alan T.
  12. I got these ex-Works rally LR24 injection throttle bodies recently:
  13. Pics of some Works GT-Rs with injected S20s:
  14. Hi Ben, I haven't been lurking all that long, honest! I'm just dipping my toe in the water here a little....... Lachlan, did you get to the bottom of the original question? I think I must have the answer somewhere ( buried in a load of literature ) but its not all that easy to find it.....
