  3. All sorted, car has been booked in for RWC with Edge Motorworks.
  4. Doubling up on a question I asked in another thread. Can anyone recommend me a place in Melbourne (West subs preferably) to get my RWC done? A place that will actually do a RWC for a R34 GTR. Thanks
  5. Can anybody recommend me a place in Melbourne to do a RWC? Car is standard other than pod filters and an exhaust. I took it in today to a local place and he said he can't do it because the car is modified!! I mentioned it's only the pods and exhaust and he said it will take him too long to figure out if it's legal or not! I thought that if you do RWC's for a job you'd already know this stuff. Looking for someone in the western suburbs preferably, and someone who I can trust with my car. Thanks
  6. I will get some up soon.
  7. So yesterday I picked up my new car. Bayside Blue R34 GTR Vspec. Thank you to everyone who posted and shared their information & views. I'm looking forward to meeting a few people at the next meet. A bigger thank you to the people who went out of their way to help me and give me good information. Much appreciated.
  8. Official paperwork said 170-165 across all cylinders. Car came back with very good results from CRD and I was really happy with their service. I Would definitely recommend them to anyone is Sydney. Very happy and glad it's been put to bed.
  9. Seems like the check was done on a cold engine. (not sure why) Car was re-checked at running temp and come back at 150-155 across all cylinders and I'm much more comfortable with that.
  10. Really? Because everything else I've been reading has pointed to it being too low!! I'm bloody confused lol.
  11. Hi Guys I know this has been covered a million times before. I've been searching the forums and google but haven't really find the answer I was looking for. (Sorta) I recently had a pre-purchase inspection done on a GTR I'm interested in and the compression test come back as 120 across all cylinders. Some people have said this is OK as it's consistent and others have said it's too low. Can someone please let me know if these figures are ok or too low as everything else has checked out and I'm close to putting down a deposit. Cheers
  12. Cheers. After reading Iron Chef's article I've got a better understanding.
  13. Can somebody please clear this up for me? I'm a little confused after reading the article. The 12k (approx) import duty is going to be removed...is this only on cars that are over 25 years old?
  14. If you download google chrome (browser) you can convert the whole page from Japanese to English automatically.
  15. Sorry to hear mate. My Jack Russell is 15 years old this year. He is slightly deaf and slightly blind. Still in good health otherwise. I'm cherishing everyday with him as I know at this age they can deteriorate quickly. I just can't imagine living without him as he has been apart of my life since I was 12/13 years old.
  16. Bump - Negotiable on price for people who are seriously interested. Thanks
  17. Gotta love how they charge you gst and import tax.
  18. $2.5k for compliance $1,900 shipping $2k Import tax (if car is worth roughly 40k) $4k-5k GST $1,100 for brokers fees.
  19. http://www.j-spec.com.au/recent/Nissan/Skyline_R34/030 Vspec performance have a silver on for sale. I've put a deposit on it. -edit- also, by 40-50k I meant the actual price for the vehicle at auction. add approx another 10k for it to be delivered, tax and complied.
  20. Came across this video on my FB feed today. Some very nice cars.
  21. Thanks for your post. I'm pretty close to purchasing a car in Melbourne. In regards to purchasing one from Japan, I see Grade 4 cars going for 40-50k daily. J-spec also says you'd need around 50k for a decent one. So I'm certain I'd be able to find a nice one for my budget. I'd just feel more confident in seeing what I'm purchasing with my own eyes. Cheers
  22. Thanks for all the feedback guys. BIG thanks to milanr34 for taking the time to show me his car and take me for a spin. Very impressed with his car. Gave me some great advice aswell.
  23. OK guys...thanks for all the help so far. A few more comments/questions... 1/ I had a look at a GTR today. It looks good and drove great. I'm currently getting a history check done on the vehicle. 2/ The car does not have a user manual/service history. Is this common on Japanese imports? 3/ Owner was happy enough to put the car on the hoist and do a system pressure check on the car for me - which I will organise to have done sometime soon. Is there anything specific I should be looking for while I have the car on the hoist? 4/ How long do standard turbos last generally before they are due for an overhaul? Thanks again -edit- One more thing. Car has done approx 80,000kms. I've asked if part of the deal, the timing belt can be changed. Anything else that might need to be done around this stage??
