  1. I have a cheap 'Drift' brand MBC - would be I correct in believing that this is a bleed type MBC? Would I benefit from changing to a ball type MBC such as this? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbotech-manual-turbo-boost-controller-THE-ORIGINAL-and-still-the-BEST-/321155544509?hash=item4ac65cb5bd:m:mJ5Yk12EnMVqXBuR8UxKxhQ
  2. R33 boost spike issue Hi all, I need to find a solution to fix a boost spike issue that my car has. It's a 1997 manual GTST, only mods are YJ coils, return flow FMIC, MBC and 3 inch turbo back exhaust. Since I installed my front mount and dialled my boost up to 10/11 PSI I have noticed that when I punch it from 3.5 grand upwards the boost will spike to 12 or 13 PSI for a moment and then taper back to my set pressure. Just last night I installed a JJR bellmouth 3 inch dump pipe and now when I punch it, it will spike to 15 PSI! Would prefer not to launch my exhaust wheel out my exhaust, so I need to get this under control. Do I need an electronic boost controller or what?
  3. I have blocked the BOV with a plate.
  4. I was running standard boost not very long ago and the behaviour was the same.
  5. Slight hesitation when coming on boost - R33 GTST Hi all. Since I've had my Skyline I've noticed that often when coming onto boost (from 1/2 throttle or more) from a reasonably low rpm (under 4k) there will be a slight delay in the power coming on. It's a 1997 GTST, only engine mods are pod filter, front mount, yellow jacket coilpacks and MBC. Fresh BCPR7ES spark plugs gapped to 0.8mm. I'll watch the boost gauge and it will make 10 PSI (my set boost level) but won't really shove for another second or so. It kind of stumbles for a second before it remembers that boost should equal power. It doesn't splutter like with buggered coilpacks, it just kind of doesn't respond properly for a moment. It's not the delay from the boost itself that I'm feeling, there's definitely a delay between boost and power. That's not right, surely? The only thing I've really tried is replacing my fuel filter and cleaning the MAF with some electronics cleaner. I'm thinking either MAF or fuel pump. Any ideas?
  6. Hi all So I've been getting a bit of a misfire/sputter/hesisation at WOT in my 1997 Skyline GTST. BK7RE plugs at 0.8mm gap, 8 PSI boost, stock coilpacks. I recently gapped them down to 0.7mm which improved the WOT performance quite a lot, but now that I've installed a front mount and upped my boost to 10 PSI and my hesitation issue is back stronger than ever. Do these syptoms suggest that my coilpacks are at fault? I run 98 fuel and have a near new fuel filter, too.
  7. Most likely. Those universal eBay knobs usually come with a bunch of plastic adaptors that you thread on.
  8. Turns out the original bolt has the same size hole, just further in. I probably should have just run the original one in the first place, but it's all back together now and I can't be arsed changing it. And nah, I just reused the original hardware. Car's only got 100k on the clock, it was all pretty fresh. I just picked up a used manifold for $30, got it machined, and put it all back together with some MLS gaskets.
  9. Hi guys. I have a stock 1997 R33 GTST. Recently I discovered my exhaust manifold had literally cracked itself in half. Thought I should replace the turbo's oil line while I was in there because it was a bit dented. I bought a cheap kit on eBay for just the oil line (specifically for my engine with the stock turbo) and it came with a new oil restrictor banjo bolt, which looks to be a smaller restrictor than the stock one. Stock one looks like 1.5-2mm while the new one looks more like 1mm. Should I run the new restrictor bolt or the original one?
  10. In the market for a new cluster for my S2, and I was wondering if an S1 cluster would work. Also, would I be able to put just the speedo from one cluster into the other? Thanks
  11. After one of these as my odometer died and I managed to break the speedo in an attempt to pull it apart and fix it. To suit an S2 (not sure if the part is different)
  12. After the grey boot garnish from an S1 R33, let me know what you want
  13. Cheers, I'll go ahead with that then
  14. Hi guys, the time has come to do the timing belt and water pump on my 1997 R33 GTST as it's done a bit over 100,000 kilometers. Looking on eBay I can see Gates Racing kits for around $240. This is the specific kit I am looking at: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GATES-RACING-TIMING-BELT-KIT-SKYLINE-PUMP-R32-R33-RB20-RB25-RB26-TCKR1040B-WP898-/251865054660?hash=item3aa453bdc4:g:slAAAOxy7S5R9aE- That kit says that it only suits R32 and R33 S1, but other identical kits say they suit all RB25 models. I have read that only one bolt is different between them and that they bolt up fine anyway. What's the go?
  15. After a standard RB25 turbo to suit my 1997 GTST. Will need to be posted to Tasmania. Thanks
