Excellent!

Not talking about changing coolant, just topping it back up because I lose about 3 or more litres just taking the hose & housing off!

Linda: Get rid of the BOV & boost controller and KEEP THE CAR. anyone who is 18 and owns a skyline is BLOODY lucky if you ask me - I don't care how they got it! P-platers / young drivers will always be targets, unfortunately statistics don't lie - younger drivers are more likely to do stupid things or make mistakes on the road. Plus the govt got to make money somehow. Be rsponsible on the road and you really shouldn't cop much grief - if you do get pulled over its more than likely because of A. The Car and B. The P-Plate, remain calm, be polite and you may be surprised, some of the police out there are actually human Don't let the system get you down, work with it! My post from another thread, Im double dipping
-
I havent been hassled by the police for months but for the 1st half of last year I got 'randomly' pulled over once a month! Most of them were cool to talk to - no defects, didnt ask to look under the bonnet except once cause he thought he heard a atmo bov noise [long story]. They only did RBT's and talked a bit about cars in general. I am not a P plater, I don't have a ricey lookin car, I don't drive like a dick on the roads and I am polite to police and only respond if I can say something that won't incriminate myself, not that I have done anything wrong

BS to what dorito32? See ya Rob :wavey: I would probably do the same thing, for the same reasons.

Nismo Part number: 24845-RNR40 Minimum 3 units at this stage, given some time, maybe more. Thanks!

well according to Nissan they are different to r33 and the wrecker said they were totally different also when he looked at them though his 33 one was off the engine and the 34 one was on an engine, so  the crack is under the dark grey coloured part on the inside - its dark grey due to the silicone over it - you can't really see the crack in the pics I did buy a housing from a local part supplier, was for R31 / VL [rb30 engines] and the bolt holes lined up but the hose was never going to fit over the pipe and it was a bit too short in length... Calling nissan tomorrow at this stage which sucks because I should have fcukin just ordered it last saturday - kicks self. Problem is long term I don't want a welded one in there and I REALLY CBF putting a welded one in temporarily and then change it again, which obviously will require MORE coolant and fcuking around! argh!!!
-
Wrecker doesn't have a spare one available - only has one on a good engine [wont sep]. R33 housings are completely different I am led to believe both by my wrecker and Nissan for info. I will try and get my one TIG'd - but will probably just order one from Nissan [Japan] & 'grin n bare' it...:sigh: pics as promised http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost.../1423thermo.jpg http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost...Housing-001.jpg

HKS34R:I believe blitz & defi have gauges that fit into the console, can't remember size though - its bigger than 52mm, the 60mm gauges are probably the best fit. AboBob: PM'ing you now!

Although there is no great news I thought I would update the thread, so you know I am still working on it ;P Prices are NOT looking good so far: One supplier has quoted me $440 each and another supplier said $950!!! Though I suspect this is incorrect - he wasn't a sales person and the right person will be calling me back. So far: MSI $200 - can't get in touch with Greenline $374 - still waiting for bulk pricing XXXX: $440 - ? XXXX: $950 - prefer not to name them yet cause I usually get good quotes Nengun: $??? - no response to email yet! XXXX: $??? - no response to email yet! For reference Nismo list them @ 29,400 Yen ~ $371 AUD

West: I tried to post a pic last night [from home] and got cut off the net b4 it posted Will try again tonight / tomorrow but its not an easy thing to take a pic of - when its on the engine, I will also post a shot of my broken one!
-
It's not like an Official Group Buy at this point anyhow. If I can get the part cheap, whoever is interested can buy one at the time
-
No probs Matt, you're off! IMO they're not worth paying more than $200 for as its not a huge upgrade over the stock ones. If I can get them for close to $200 I will be happy but if the cheapest is $300 or more then I don't think its worth it. Still haven't heard back from Greenline. Nengun haven't replied at all, nearly a week later. Haven't heard from MSI or another supplier in Melb yet either! Will have to do the ring around I think, these people don't seem to respond well to email!

My wrecker [saviour] has most likely got a housing for me, will find out tonight - really can't wait 2 weeks for Ex- Japan. It's what happens when you own a *unique* car I guess

That's what happens when you have sleeping problems i guess, i need to go to insomniacs anonymous  I only have a soldering iron - which doesnt work. I was thinking of taking it to an exhaust shop to get it welded or something. I ended up using a Silicon Sealant / Adhesive but not sure whether it will work / last / survive in that enviroment [hot/pressurised] so I haven't put it back in yet. It's only cracked slightly, about 3-4cm long, it hasnt snapped off and the gap is minimal but you can see through it! How does the saying go, practice makes perfect? No, we learn from our mistakes? That'll do

FCUK IT! I somehow managed to crack the thermo housing and am now trying to chase up a new one of these, anyone? From Nissan they are 2 weeks away Ex- Japan as Nissan don't have any to suit my car in Australia. If someone has one in Melb etc please let me know ASAP!!! Thanks.

fitted new thermostat last night, havent cranked it over yet, just needed to let the liquid gasket dry and now need to top up coolant - at least kmart had 25% off auto which I bought the Nulon stuff for $25 for 5 litres concentrated I am getting sick of buying coolant lately - this will be enough to top up and even do another change-over if there's still something wrong afterwards! I have a feeling the orig thermo just got blocked and now that I have submerged it it 100 water a few times it runs a bit better - tested with a thermometer last night and both are fully opened up around 85 degrees... give or take. I have taken some pics that I will post shortly too, for reference.

Any updates?

Updated the first post with the people who are interested, I also received a reply from Greenline for just the Centre Cluster / Sub Meter. Their current quote for 1 item is $374 delivered. I have replied back and requested bulk pricing / discount, will see what happens. They have already said they cannot match MSI's price for 1 item though. Haven't heard from MSI contact yet, I will call again at lunchtime and try and find this guy, he will be the cheapest I am sure - as long as I can get hold of him! I'm also waiting on a response from Nengun...haven't heard anything yet. Lastly I have a couple of other contacts / suppliers I will follow up today! Cheers guys.
