  8. Perhaps it will increase the resale values - but I signed it to help the guys who are trying to get a car [now]! And what if "we" want or need to buy another car, are you happy to pay perhaps, several thousand dollars extra for what will essentially be the same car passing through different legislation [red tape]? Some of the laws have already wiped out small business' which can be seen as good for some while bad for other's. Good: stops the dodgy operators bringing in crap cars? Bad: too costly for [the honest] small business to adapt / meet requirements of new RAWS? It all depends on how you look at it i guess, maybe we don't really know what the full effects are yet?
  9. EX, that is mostly correct. The statutory warranty in Victoria is 3 months - however the car needs to be either less than 10 years old or have done less than 160,000 kms. If the car doesnt meet these 2 requirements the dealer is not obliged to offer warranty. [i just sold my old car through a friends dad, who is a LMCT]. I bought mine from a private importer not a Licensed Motor Car Trader [thus had to negotiate a warranty]! DJ_lethal's case appears to be similar to mine in that the seller isnt a licensed dealer[?]

Adz, Yeah i had a good chat with Kyp there last week and it sounds [and looks] like they do some quality work! [there are a few of us who could hook up for a cruise around the area, im keen].
  11. Thanks!
  12. kjb_r33, yeah that happened to a mate just 2 weeks ago, was a 4 cylinder but was only running on 3 due to one plug being fully immersed in water! It sounded like a wrx...but his car is really loud!

  16. Warranties are really only for peace of mind, just like insurance half the time. You can always purchase your own warranty these days if you wanted too. I didnt when i bought my 34 back in november but i considered it. Seller gave me a 3 month warranty but I had to push for it. If your at all interested check CarGear for warranty info and cost - a useful site for anyone buying a car Australia wide!

A good point you raised SS8_Gohan! Personally, my skyline is my only car, I don't want to thrash it around a track that much cause its all I have. I have tried drag racing @ Calder Park [diff. car] and it wasn't much fun to be honest, I prefer to watch. I also raced at a club sprint event @ Sandown - which was heaps of fun but a lot of stress on the car [again diff. car]. For me a friendly race [up to speed limit of course] @ the traffic lights is much more fun... Being a techhead I am always curious to know how fast something is, how it works, how much power it has etc...its in my nature. Though I won't be doing any major mods on my 34, I will have a little play around ; ) with the car that is!
  18. Sounds like your'e getting a good car /deal lethal! And as long as you are on good terms with this guy and / or have a warranty then you will have a safeguard against anything that may pop up later [hopefully you won't need it though].
  19. If it had never been registered in Oz before then you would have to get 12 months reg as a minimum anyway. But its good that the seller "appears" to be paying for this though!
  20. Some websites out there have their "own" versions of these though!
  21. oops, just read the last couple of posts... how long have grades 6 > 9 been around? Never heard of those before! No i am not a newbie either. What is your source for this info alexR33?? just curious
  22. As akeenan started to say, it is not possible that it was Grade 5. Only showroom condition - brand new cars are rated as 5. You probably are getting a nice example but definately not 5. The guy is talking crap there. Ask any reputable importer here for a run down on the gradings. Geoff @ PrestigeMotorsport has it listed on his site! Grade 4.5 is like one or two tiny blemishes that will rub out. FYI: I have got a 1998 build r34 gtt that was rated as a 4 with a couple of minor scratches but barely noticeable.
  23. ok lol
  24. Yeah, I recall the HPI r34 project had similar power to Franks, but it was in stock form then. *mental note to re-read that tonight*
  25. nah i dont think so, more likely that he was offended cause inasnt just inadvertently called all sydney ppl gay! read his post again...
