  2. last owner thought he was smart and put a manual boost controller without re tuning it ! after it was only tuned to 12 psi at 350 whp , went to 17 LOOL. im fine with buying new ones just wanted others input rods are still in good condition pretty sure this motor didn't make it past 10 000 km thought id ask after looking at this , http://www.miataturbo.net/engine-performance-56/how-fix-mild-pre-detonation-forged-pistons-64990/
  3. just grabbed them didn't have the time to measure , honestly trying to find a model number do not get why cps do not have them as every other piston does that was created even OEM ones do but thanks for the input and help
  4. would pre detonated pistons be repairable ? detonation markings are not as bad as my bmws detonated ones as those ones had worse markings and deformed these have minor pre detonation markings on 5 of them ive seen a method of repairing them and few guy gotten away with it ? ill get some pictures up
  5. picked up a set of eagle rods - CRS - 4783 - NI CP - Only markings i see are the cp stamp and the 85.2A how do i tell what pistons they apparently they are 87mm , but dont know the model number as i need new rings , also can pre detonation on the side of a piston be repaired ive seen a few forums repairing them and getting away with it honestly bought the rods alone , and they came with the pistons so if they are fixable id be saving on my rebuild also looking for a site that sells ACL bearings and a full engine gasket kit etc thanks
  6. yea i noticed she was toast , 119 across the board which seems disgusting low! , except cylinder 5 was 121 got someone doing the rebuild for me honestly trying to clean up the car and do a fresh rebuild obviously the more money you put into a proper build the more power it can withstand depending on the specs , atm just going to score for a 600hp capable built bottom end port polish some cams for the top end just for a dd thanks for the help appreciate the help ! no need to LS1 swap a GTR the sound of an rb is unique
  7. hey new to the forum names ali , was into the German scene but ended up trading my turbocharged bmw for a 92 skyline r32 gtr 86k on the engine is what i was told didn't pay much attention when trading which i should of later found out the oil was milky well took the head off and a new headgasket was installed also went back to a factory twin turbo set-up as the single turbo set-up was sloppy , finally finished a custom 3" turbo back and i started the car to hear this knock , looked around couple forums asked a couple people im getting 2 answers , it sound like the top end and some are saying it is the bottom end let me know your thoughts on the situation at this point im looking at rebuilding the engine http://vid1290.photobucket.com/albums/b540/bmwb325/20160118_212459_zpsfny2umr9.mp4 http://vid1290.photobucket.com/albums/b540/bmwb325/20160118_212555_zps0qlzucuz.mp4
