No problems Rezz. I'm just giving my 2 yen. I probably wouldn't have laughed, but to get angry.... well we're in Japan and it could be worst. Its just harmless and something that we shouldn't stress too much about. I get annoyed when I have a seat and some salaryman comes up waiting in front of me and coughing like I wasn't there. I mean, I don't want to be sick and would really want this guy to *** off. My Japanese isn't good yet but I hope to master the art in the near future. Just reading some crap from an Australian car forum and sometimes I'm glad I'm in Japan. Merry Christmas dood and a Happy New Year.

Rezz, If he was the train conductor, he shouldn't have a speech impediment. Otherwise, was there something wrong with the mic? was it freezing cold? Could you understand what he was saying? Was it a prank? I just don't see how someone with a speech problem be in charge of making announcement on the train (not trying to be harsh here). Maybe you're being a bit too sensitive?

Thanks! I did some reading and found that we can import very old LHD cars like 60's corvette or mustangs. But other than that, one has to do the conversions.
-
OK, I love my GTR but I've been looking at Corvettes lately and would really love to get one, unfortunately its LHD. Are we allow to drive LHD cars in Australia? This one is the C5. Would love to take this car back. Its unique, fast, not too thirsty for fuel, has lotsa space. It reminds me of 300zx, except more gruntier, beefier if you know what I mean. Australia doesn't seem to have cars like this. Another question, can I take home a car that's already sold locally in Australia? A friend is selling her Nissan S15 Silvia pretty cheaply, can I import this car into Australia personally (if I meet the personal import regulations - keeping the car for 1 year etc etc). Any personal import success stories?

Hey thanks people. My car's a late 91. I can smell petrol in the cabin when I drive so something's going on there. So I have to check the following : - ECU (would I need to reflash this regardless of whether its stock or not?) - O2 sensor Thanks again.

Well, I've just calculated that I'm getting about 250km on a full tank on my R32 GTR. Most of the driving is during traffic and below 100kmh (never been on a highway yet). Is something wrong? I'm not pushing it hard, driving it leisurely. I have a feeling that its running rich or something needs replacing. So, if I take it for service how do I ask to get it checked for this problem? i.e. My car is running a bit rich, how do I make it run a little more efficiently because I don't need the extra power or early boost for daily driving. Could someone guild me to how to ask this in Japanese? Thanks!

I'm getting a friend to send over some car magazines. Prefer something related to GTRs. Can anyone recommend some good ones? Thanks.

Hi, How fast can you go on the longest straight?
-
Dood you can say that again. They know what they're up against but they still want a run. Pretty fun. Lots of fast cars around my area including a couple of NSXes and several R32 GTRs. They all seem to be going in the same direction so I should probably follow them :Bang:

How can I find out the year of my car?
Informer posted a topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
OK, I did a search and couldn't really find what I wanted. Is there any clue as to what year mode my car is? Its an R32 GTR, shop told me its a 91 model though I want to make sure. I saw funkymonkey's thread about all the Skylines made and didn't see any 91 R32 GTRs (only 89 and 93). Or am I reading that wrong? -
You know, when owners get together with their cars to fix the same thing like installing new group buy parts or changing gearbox oil or gay wash (j/k). Whdayareckon? I'm serious.

You guys are tops!!! Heres a beer for you all :

You can pick up a mass of unwanted bicycles. I've seen tvs, microwave ovens and stuff like that, but a lot of them may not work properly. Japanese used to throw fairly new stuff out, but not anymore.

Hey thanks! This and Yahoo BB is great, but I prefer to check out the items in person than order something over then net.
-
I'm in Japan though...any luck getting one here? I might be going to Melb in Dec though.
-
Um.. Where can I get this t shirt and how much does it cost?
-
Checking out the option mag may be a good idea, thanks but no love dood :-)

Rezz, I love you.

Hi I need help in locating second hand parts around Tokyo.
-
Japan must have been invaded with things like McDonalds and KFC and Burger King/Hungry Jacks etc etc. There are no Burger Kings/Hungry Jacks in Japan. THere used to be. I was just wondering what sort of things you'd find on the menu in these places that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Like the others have said, special meals come and go. They are usually catered for the local consumers as nothing like chinese or italian flavouring is offered. I like to watch cooking shows, and I don't think I've ever seen a Japanese chef cook with chicken. (Iron Chef is awesome, it's one of my favourite shows ) Ah yeah, I watch that too, BS though I can cook but I can't do that so what's the point? Chicken is cheap here, well to me. Beef is too bloody expensive. No way you'll be having BBQ Aussie style in Japan unless you're loaded. Fish is common, can be expensive too. You can visit the chinese supermarket and get the normal chinese stuff like chicken feet, head, liver and stuff like that. Just need to find them (probably Yokohama).
-
Dood are you sure you can get a big mac combo for 500 yen? Where are you? I wanna go there. BM combo meals sell at 600 yen around my area (in Tokyo and Chiba). You can buy duck meat at Ito Yokado, they would be in plastic packages though (probably import).

I think what I meant was, black is one of the easiest colour to match. Gaaawwwd I can't even understand myself sometimes
-
Probably. Its not me that's judging you, its the Japanese. Be prepared for it when they do because they'll do it a lot. As long as your English is clear enough, slow enough, satisfactory enough, then it shouldn't be a problem. There are many cases where the teachers are not native English speakers (some are from Sweden, Denmark, Germany etc etc).
-
Well I'll tell my side of the story. Previously there weren't that many Asians working as English teachers here. You would have to be something special or lucky to get your foot in the door. Japanese seem to like Japanese Americans though so who knows. Now, it seems to be a lot easier because I'm seeing Indians, Phillilipinos and Vietnamese coming to Japan to teach English. They don't speak English that well, but good enough to pass as conversationalists. You need a degree to get a job as a "teacher", so where these guys get their degrees I don't know. I was rejected at the main office in Tokyo when I was already in Japan so I guess I was unlucky even though I had experience teaching (not just English) and had a good qualification. I'm not ugly either. I'm Asian, born in UK and brought up in UK and Australia. I don't speak a lick of anything else but English. Now I have a job I want, not getting a lot of money but I actually enjoy teaching. Lamtran, if you got the job, great! Good to see things have changed. Whether you will like Japan is another thing. Good luck!
