  1. So this bad boy will be here on Friday. All I need is bolts for the torque converter. Should be a pretty straight forward install. Hardest part will be shifter. Ill have to make up a nice ally plate to cover the gaping hole in the interior but shouldn't be too bad. B&M shifter turned up yesterday so i started cutting her apart to get it to fit. This is the plate ill have to make up. Some 3mm ally plate painted black shouldnt look too bad. Obviously its going to be mounted on the underside of the hole.
  2. So I threw stock suspension back in her yesterday, still have to do the front. It's a lot softer than my pedder coilovers, i can push the boot down atleast an inch without really trying. Sooo I've removed my gearbox as I've bought myself a built 2sp powerglide setup. Swapped over what I can so far, still gotta make up a couple plates to block the clutch slave cylinder and the trans tunnel off. B&M shifter should be here tomorrow so I'll be able to start looking at how to mount that. Box arrives Thursday, so plan is to try and get it all sorted on the weekend and then take her down to my tuner for a touch up and to see how much power I've lost ? Going off other setups I should only hopefully lose about 20whp. Plan is to maybe throw something a bit bigger on it and wind it back up to 500whp because my turbos maxed out.
  3. I have emailed kelford to ask if it's possible to run more lift with VCT and what they'd recommend for my setup. Yeah small lift and relatively low duration for the turbo size I want to run, little worried 268 wont bring out the full potential up top. Oh yep, shame ATI dont make a balancer for the 25's.... Ross is the only way to go for me I think.
  4. I don't understand them haha people make 600whp on stock balancer but their aftermarket 'upgraded' unit is rated to 600hp? What do you run on yours Pete? Yup, as far as I'm aware anyway. Im gonna shoot kelford an email and see what they say about a custom vct set.
  5. Ok so I'm a little bit unsure which path to go with my new build this year... I'm building a 25/30 and looking at GTX42/PTE6870g2/EFR9180 and not sure if I should keep VCT and run 268 9mm or get rid of VCT and run 272 10.4mm. I'll be tuning getting it tuned on my manual box then moving to a glide setup as most stuff I do is mexican highway/drags/roll racing. I still want somewhat of a powerband, will probably only rev it to 8k to stay on the safe side for the hydraulic lifters. Positives and negatives to both, if i delete vct I'll have to clearance head for big lift, but I won't have to do an external vct oil feed, laggier. If i keep it gotta run external feed, smaller duration and lift but bring the turbo on quicker? Head will be ported with +1mm valves also. Also those of you who run ross balancers, is the metal jacket ok or should I upgrade to the race series? (A/C retrofit is exy). They rate the metal jacket to 600hp which ill be exceeding but just wanted to see what people are running. Open to other options as well if any.
  6. Hehe yep ? Yeah, I swear it was a HSV club day or something ? so many of the f**kers there, all copping the chop... They love to jump as well as you can see from a few of the runs ?
  7. Little vid I slapped together from Breaky and Laps yesterday. As you can see full throttle in 2nd with the mickeys 8)
  8. Imo if you must go high mount and ffp run a GTX3576R with T4 twinscroll mani with divider all the way to a 45 or 50mm gate. For FFP get a Plazmaman plenum from @Dose Pipe Sutututu. You can use stock mani and do a custom crossover pipe like ive done. They stock intakes will flow more than you are asking. Im at 374rwkw 20psi with a GT3076r Hypergate45 1000cc injectors, CRG highmount, 256 cams, gasket and studs. Would wind it up more but compressor is flowing its dick off. Ive seen a few guys with gtx3076r's get to 400rwkw but 27-30psi. For cams throw in a set of 260deg cams and valvesprings to keep it responsive and add some mid/top end power.
  9. So went out last night. Turned out to be harley night, so was full of bikes.... Only got 5 runs in. Still getting used to launching with these tyres now they hook up a lot better. We focused on pressures and worked down from what i drove there on which was 28psi and ended up at 16. 18psi had the best 60ft with a 1.8 and 16psi had 1.9s. So a little bit of data for next time. Managed a pb of 11.6, not bad considering i was only getting 1.9 almost 2sec 60ft times. Still a few tenths to shave off it as I get used to it.
  10. So got the idle issue all sorted. Turned out to be a stuck VCT solenoid. All fixed and running sweet again! Got my mickeys put onto the GTR wheels, grip on the street is amazing. Holds 2nd gear no worries. Off to the track tonight to run a PB 8) Hopefully... Will be happy with a low 11 but wanting to try crack a 10 second pass.
  11. So did a little bit of maintenance/fix ups on her today. Car was dropping idle when I press brakes, diagnosed as brake booster. Changed that over yesterday and still doing it just not as bad. So started pulling shit apart and checking hoses etc. Did PCV delete with 18mm welch plug into rocker cover and 10mm cap on the plenum. Also deleted my coolant bleeder as it was just touching my crossover pipe, so now it can sit lower and won't touch the bonnet Also pulled off my IAC and gave it a good cleanup to see if that addresses the idle issue. Also test fit up my 32 GTR wheels too see what they look like... Should look heaps better once the bigger Mickey's are on. Measured my ride height as well, FR 330mm, FL 330mm, RR 325mm, RL 325mm. Gonna raise to recommended 350mm front, 340mm rear. Probs won't look as good but see how we go. Traction is a big issue even with 265, not that they're a special tyre but hopefully raising it will help me get more squat/traction.
  12. Nice work, I was expecting better numbers than that especially with that sort of boost Exhaust manifold isnt restricting, theres heaps of boys running a lot more power than you on stock manifold. AFM would be but I thought they could go a bit more than that. If you have the coin replace the dinosaur ecu and get a link/haltech whatever your tuner prefers and piss the afm off as I'm not sure you can upgrade unless you go to an R35 one but not sure if the PFC can use them or not.
  13. Keen to see some results from the GEN II 3076. Should do 300rwkw on 98. I assume you're not going E85 with a little walbro 255? To get the most out of a GTX you'll wanna be running E85 and pump some boost through her My old school GT3076R-WG makes 500.9whp on E85 20psi boost with headgasket/studs/cams, stock bottom end. Previous tune with completely unopened motor was 286rwkw on 98 18psi and 325rwkw on E85 22psi. Mine is external gate on CRG highmount mani also.
  14. You make 15psi about 400rpm before me. Change ecu to a link/haltech and get closed loop boost setup through that instead of your boost controller. Boost will probably be a lot smoother as well.
  15. Just had a look at dyno sheets and compared them against eachother. Only thing changed was trigger kit and a little touch up. Nice gains all the way through the power range.
  16. So we threw her back on the dyno yesterday to touch thr tune up with the trigger kit. Tuner said cam trigger is about 95% as good as a crank trigger. Did a power run and made 490whp, added 1* up top and made 499.3whp, then added another 1* and went the 500.9whp 8) He didn't want to up the boost as the turbos falling over up top.
  17. Picked up the fittings and hose for the catch can today and fitted it all up. Not really happy with how the drivers one runs under my piping but it will do for now. Couple of shots from a car meet the other night.
  18. Gave her a quick clean on Tuesday because a car meet. Needs a good detail to get rid of the swirlies on her. And I finally got my catch can done tonight! So tomorrow I'll be off to MSA to get some fittings and braided hose to hook it all up Might even get some smaller hose to relocate my boost solenoid somewhere a bit better now my can's in. Also take her down for a much needed wheel alignment...
  19. They are shagged and the rubber is gone really hard...
  20. So got it all back together with new rotors on. Since I 'downgraded' my rear brake setup I thought might as well make use of it and run 16s with some Mickey Thompsons. Picked up a pair of 32 GTR wheels today for a steal. Few scratches here and there but no complaining for the price. Will be wrapping them in some 255/50r16 et street s/s sometime this week if I get the time. Maybe go down to Willowbank and see how she goes with some traction off the line. Trigger is all setup and timed now. Car feels really smooth in high rpm now. See how we go getting it on the dyno early this week for a touch up.
  21. So it was a mission to get the CV out... I couldn't do it even with a big f**k off hammer so I pulled the whole assembly off and dropped it down to see if we can press it out.... Biggest f**k around, thought it would be a quick job but no. Fk you rust... DBA rotors also turned up yesterday thanks to Dose pipe! If all goes well should be going by Sunday.... Fingers crossed...
  22. So went out to Circuit & Coffee on Sunday for a spin, then up to Mt Tamborine for a pub feed. Got to my mates place and found out the cv had destroyed itself. Bolts had come out on the drive, lucky it didn't happen on the highway or doing 200km/h+.... When i inspected the clunk I also found that both my rear rotors have cracks. Will be downgrading the big brake kit on the rear and getting some stock size DBA rotors. Will also allow me to run 16" rims with some mickeys when I get around to it... On the other hand my trigger kit turned up so I installed that yesterday. Nice easy install, just have to double check the clearance between the trigger wheel and sensor. Can't wait to get my catch can all done to fk that hideous filter off... Hopefully pick up a new cv this week and slap it in with some nyloc nuts so it doesn't happen again....
  23. Looks good! But are you going to screw more into it? If not why such a big turbo for power a gt30 can easily make with a lot better response?
  24. So my turbo blew up at breakky and laps a few weeks ago. Not sure why but the bearings were rooted. It has now been rebuilt with ceramic ball bearings and dosing again 8) Catch can turned up, looks amazing, cant wait to fit it up! Only problem is how my gate sits I can't get the bracket down next to it where it's meant to bolt to the body. So ill have to refab the bracket to pick up another bolt hole somewhere else, im thinking strut tower at this stage will be easiest. Ordered an NZ Wiring cam trigger kit that wad recommended to me by a lot of people. That gets sent off this week so hopefully have it in the next 2 weeks. Been tossing up whether or not to sell my turbo or not, would only be upgrading to a gtx3076r as that will make enough for the stock bottom rb25. If i can find one at a reasonable price I might swap mine out and get it retuned when i put the cam trigger in as well.
  25. So looks like I'll be going for the Ross Balancer with crank trigger kit, hopefully get that in the next couple of weeks then throw her back on the dyno for a touch up. Tuner could only get 70% eth content on the tune, plugged laptop in and with full tank she was up around the 80% mark so hopefully be able to screw a little bit more into it. I'd say the turbo would almost be at its limit and don't wanna go too crazy with it since its stock bottom end still. Think this will be the final step for this motor/setup. Ordered a AT Performance catch can a couple weeks ago, they said it's all been CNC cut and just needs to be formed and welded. So should be here next week Will look so much better than the hose between the two covers and a filter on top and will actually have somewhere to put the blowby. Will be running it to atmosphere so blocking the PCV with a welch plug on the rocker cover.
