  1. Ill build the head to suit what ever i decide to use. That's not an issue.
  2. I'm not ditching a set of 'bolt ons' for another set. I know its the obvious and logical thing to do but that doesn't answer my question. Ill try this. What's going to have the most linear power curve from the two options. If the engine and head was built to suit each option...
  3. I can't remember anything about the build. Its been a fair while. All i have are recipes for it
  4. Ill re phrase it. Everything aside. Which turbo set up is going to perform better with minimal head work? And be more streetable. Basically if i gave the keys to my mum and said take it for a strap what would she be best suited to drive
  5. When the engine was built i did tell the builder eventually i wanted to aim for 400kw's at the wheels. So they've built the bottom end around that i guess.
  6. I guess I'm trying to figure out 2838 vs t04z.
  7. When i first brought them i didn't realise they were such a serious option. Defect aside iv wanted to build a car with a big single. Well a decent sized single. Then these came up. So i grabbed them. If i sell them off ill probably look at the t04z option again if there is going to be less hassle chasing good power. I'm just trying to weigh up the odds. Do i sell them off and start putting together a single. Or keep them work with what i have and spend coin in the areas to achieve a decent power from these. Like working on the head fuel system and drive line which ill have to do anyways with either option. That'll most likely be a pig to drive but once its rolling its gonna be scary.
  8. The 2835's that i have do sit in the stock position. They are internally gated version.
  9. The main thing about the ones i have are they sit in the stock position and being from SA where they enjoy defecting everything that's wha really appealed to me. Although it won't be a daily driven car and iv been pulled over more in my stock vs commondore than i have in the skyline.
  10. Yea the bottom end has the works. All except extended sump. But has a baffle kit in. Got forged pistons, rods bearing what ever else i got in the build. It was a head gasket down build. As nothing was done with the head except for a face pressure test and what ever else they did to it. As at the time i was un certain of the direction of the car!
  11. No arrogant replies please. Facts not opinions...
  12. Lets start again. Ok. If i budget 10g for the head. Would these or a t04z be better for a street driven car? Will i have to go as full on building the head if i use a t04z. What kinda power figures will you pull from a 04 wi i the 0.81 rear housing? I'll be using a hks version not a garrett or other brand.
  13. Sorry mate. I thought that. But i was just wondering if it was everything needed to build up the head.
  14. Sorry mate. I thought that. But i was just wondering if it was everything needed to build up the head.
  15. Gonna make the most of my Haltech and its both lag to
  16. Is he head gear everything ya need to drop in? Was that the set up you ran with the 2835's??
  17. I looking into getting the head done to suit these. Or a 04z.
  18. I was just about to start a topic on building the head. What cams, how much lift, over size values etc. As much info as i can find. Or preferably buy a head that's already been built for something similar. What i had picked up is around 270-280 degree cams with around 10mm lift, over sized ex valve...
  19. 500kws it is then
  20. Although iv been told thr are bigger than gt-rs'
  21. Mine are the bolt on standard position ones. So they are a bit smaller than he high mount kit. I think 0.6 front and 0.640rear. Wanna push them high 300's plus. Got the engine and Haltech ready for support. Now turtle things like cam size injector etc. Its gonna be a dog to drive. But its not going to be a daily.
  22. Cheers. Yea iv found heaps on 2jz's running them hey.
  23. Just after some info on these. As iv got a set. And dont know weather to use them or sell them off for a t04z. Iv got the inturnally gated set, that sits in the stock looking position. What are some good supporting mods?? ie cams and stuff. Cheers James.
  24. more about my car, has a new fuel pump. plugs are 1500kms old(not gapped to .8), new oil. and its running a haltech so no afm and on o2 sensors!! althought i blew a hose and covered the pods in oil and i had a few inlet hoses off the other day and saw alot of oil in there. so looks like turbo to inlet manifold pipes will have to be pulled out and cleaned out from all the oil i was gonna check th igniter module. i think i have a bad grounding in the engine but...
