yep...what I *think* has happened... they have used a threaded sleeve onto stock strut...some people hold up the sleeve by welding it onto the strut, while others will cut a groove around the strut and put some kinda clip to hold up the sleeve, sounds like your bolt has allowed the sleeve to slide all the way down??? Just a guess....
