Forgive me if this is an obvious question - but just wanted to be sure. I've got a more or less stock RB20 in my 32. Standard turbo, boost, ECU, etc. Only mod is a 3" exhaust from the turbo all the way back and a K&N panel filter in the standard airbox. Driving around as normal, the turbo sounds pretty. Regular smooth hiss. But if I open it right up with full throttle, I got a real audible whistle coming from the turbo when it reaches full boost. Just wondering what's causing this, and whether it's something I should be worried about? I haven't owned a turbo car previous to this one. I searched and read through a bunch of threads, but no one mentioned these same symptoms. I'm planning to go to the dyno day on Saturday, and don't want to go running it if the turbo is on it's way out.

Had A Nice Toy In Today 1.1bar 563rwkw 1013nm

Holy shit. I cannot fathom what it would be like to drive that thing on the steet. -
I'm headed up with 2 friends of mine. One in a 34 and the other in a 180SX. Hope that's alright! At least it's still a Nissan. We'll try and meet you guys at the truck stop as well.

BMW E30 coupe shape, for damn sure! What a hot design. The M3 is just so good looking, and the 325iS is just as nice with the MTech2 bodykit. Although that might've only come out in early 90s. Not too sure. I'll get some pics when I'm home. That white FC RX7 above it so hot! Love it.

Ah! Psyched me out. I saw that there was a reply by you and thought it was an update! Damn it!

Yes! Mini Mini! Nice one. Thanks, mate.

Yep, all black looks the business. Definitely do that.

Is My Steering Column Ruined? (pictures Inside)

I got lucky. The locksmith rekeying the new barrel managed to work it back into shape when he installed it. Very fortunate considering how bad it looked. My car is almost back to normal. -
Little update. Car is ready to be picked up in the morning. Cannot wait to drive it again. The locksmith managed to work the steering column back into shape so it still locks in both directions after you remove the key from the ignition. It's all rekeyed and sorted out so I'm happy. I've got the last of the bits I need arriving in the mail tomorrow so it should be a complete car by tomorrow night. The only problem left is the light behind the clock that's stopped working. I'm hoping it might just be a fuse - but I don't like my chances. It's minor, but it's bothering me. Any one got any hints on that?

Can I request two? Pretty please? One of my Skyline and one of my Mini. I need better photos of both but these are all I have for now. Thanks. Both need a bit of a touch up of levels and whatnot too.

Fairly stock looking silver/grey R33 on Pennant Hills Rd tonight at about 10:30. It was headed towards Carlingford and I saw it up near Thornleigh. Had red seat covers and the guy driving had a goatee. Had an exhaust and some low, stiff suspension. Also had the pretty rare EL light on the rear 'Skyline' panel. Looked cool.

Is My Steering Column Ruined? (pictures Inside)

No, no - I spoke to them about it and considered it, but it's going to work out a little cheaper sourcing the parts myself and doing the work rather than getting Nissan to sort it out. Plus I get to keep my no claims bonus this way. -
Had another look at the car today, and I think my steering column has been busted in the process of trying to steal it. Very upsetting. I posted a thread in the general forum that I'd appreciate some feedback in. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St...ed-t227918.html Cheers.

I've just realised how awful those pictures are. Do you need me to get some clearer shots? -
As some of the NSW guys will know, my car was broken into last weekend and pulled apart in an attempted theft. My thread about it is here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...en-t227047.html I took a good look at it this morning again to try and work out what they're damaged, and I have a feeling that the steering column is boned as well. I've attached a couple of pictures to try and show the damage. You can see the left over pieces of the ignition barrel mounts. They popped the barrel itself right out from between the ends where the screw threads in. Then they've jammed something in through that circle on the column to free the column lock as well, I guess. Is it possible to knock that back into shape? Or is a whole new column going to be needed. The whole thing is f**king upsetting. Thieves are absolute scum. There's also an unaccounted for plug dangling out from the dash. I have no idea where it goes. Some of the clip has been broken off. Does it plug into the other end that I've taken a picture of? I think it might be for the light behind the clock on the dash, as it's not working. All help is appreciated. Thanks.

Haha. Nice one. I was more just trying to get a good look rather than keep up. The car looks good mate.

Gorgeous white R32 GTR last night on Old Northern Rd just before 1am. Thing looked sweet - real low over matt black rims (TE37s I think, hard to tell) and some nice dark window tint as well. Pity I wasn't in my 32 (back on the road Wednesday!). Rego on it was BDZ-86L. I think the owner spotted me keeping up with him because he squirted it away from me after we turned onto Castle Hill Rd. I was in the white BMW 525i. Nice car.
-
Money didn't clear into seller's account in time to have the parts delivered today. So provided they're sent express post today, I should be able to get it back on the road on Wednesday. This sucks! EDIT: Good thing is that I'll have that 'damn this car is amazing' feeling when drive it again after having it sit there for over a week.
-
Yup that's the guy. His 33 got battered pretty badly. I remember it sitting there under a tarp for weeks until I saw some guys there pulling the important bits out of it. We should drop a note on his windscreen telling him to sign up.

Spotted a silver R34 this evening turning off Copeland Rd onto Pennant Hills Rd then left into Aiken Rd. It had white rims and I'm certain it lives down near the roundabout where Aiken and Hill roads meet? Is that a member on here?

That reminds me of a dropped Toyota Corolla that I saw at the Oporto's on King St in Newtown. Plates were 'INDMOB'. Made me laugh too. Not exactly a supercar though!

No worries, guys. I am happy with the price, all things considered. Just would've been nice to not have to shell out at all. I am lucky that I didn't end up with a smashed window to replace as well. I had no idea that Glebe had such a bad rep down the Broadway end. I now know that there's a big difference between the two sides of Glebe. I never would've parked there had I known.

Yeah very happy considering it costs $300 for the ignition barrel and $140 for the surround (excluding GST) from Nissan themselves. I'm getting the parts from a fellow SAU member who has a thread in the For Sale section. $120 for the barrel and $30 for the surround plus $20 in postage. I phoned a whole lot of wreckers and got a lot of 'haven't got 'em' as well as a range of different prices ($150-175 on the barrel and $60 odd for the surround) for the other bits. Then the re-keying and installation is being done at Pacific Auto Electrics in Thornleigh. It's actually organised through the locksmith (Ultimate Locksmiths, the guys name is Daniel) as he gets all his auto electrical stuff done by Pacific. So I take it there, he charges me $110 and the whole lot gets done. He was also prepared to just do the barrel re-keying and let me install it for $66.

Well after some phoning around and forum browsing, it looks like this will be fixed by Saturday afternoon. Grand total is a respectable $280 all up. That's including the cost of the parts and postage to me, rekeying of the ignition barrel to match my current key and installation of the barrel including the rewiring required for the immobiliser. Not too bad, I don't think. I can't wait for it to be done - I miss driving it so much! He's been sitting in the garage since it happened. I just wish I'd been able to spend that money on something else that it actually needed done.
