80's glory -
Ok i have been chipping away at the inside of the car little by little lately and today she went out for a bath and a small drive, it was such a good feeling to get it out and running after so long. I then took it a wheel alignment ready for wakie. I took some pics of the inside, it is a little rough around the dash but i will tidy that up later. It has indicator lights, engine check light and a spare one in the dash, a external shift light controlled by the dash and a alternator charge light. The four red switches on the centre console are for the dash and the bottom knob is the brake bias adj. I have left room on the panel for a fuel level gauge to fit later on. I have not attacked the doors as yet and i a thinking about getting a second set to attack and modify at a later stage, for now the power windows and mirrors work as factory. I have to get some alloy plates made up for the floor so i dont destroy the paint around the pedals. I will finish of the second fuel pump and surge tank on the week end and wrap the cage in padding around our heads. No too many jobs to do and she will be ready to rock and roll. Enjoy.

1999 R34 Gtr Vspec – Race Or Comply

Want to sell the wing? -
Problem sorted, I ended up pining out all the wires in the fuel pump system and found that the air regulator module inside the left hand rear quarter was not connected I must have unplugged it when I was stuffing around with the power antenna. What a great way to waits 5 hrs of stuffing about. O well now I have a nice 4.0 bar of fuel pressure before startup and the car still operates like a std one. Once i have put it all back together i will post some pics.

yer i am thinking of just running the fuel pump relay/s off the ignition wire and seeing if that affects any thing else? What do ya think?
-
No drives as yet i have lost voltage to the fuel pump? I trimmed a lot of fat out of the rear harness and now i think i have trimmed out a earth for the fuel pump relay. I have 12.2 volts at the fuse and 12.2 volts between pins 1 and ground and 3 and ground but pin 2 is not a good ground so the relay is not getting switched so to send power to the FPCM. I only have about 2 bar of fuel pressure when i pick the revs up slightly, if i just leave it idle the revs fall over and it stalls fuel pressure drops off to 1 bar. I don't want to just connect pin 2 to earth as i think it is meant to earth through the ignition switch ( pin 1 is powered by the ecm and earthed through the ignition switch, i think?) i dont want to affect anything else in the system. At the moment i am just running the one walbro in tank pump as i have been for a while but the second pump is sitting in the boot ready for power, i just want to sort out this one first and then use the switching signal for both relays. I am also having troubles getting the rpm signal for the stack dash, pin 7 on the ecm is the output for the tacho but there is no wire there? the stack manual said to just hook it up to the ignition circuit and set the parameters in the dash but this did not work? I am going to spend all day on it again today so let me know any thoughts. Cheers.

Hey all as the title says i am on the hunt for a cheap fiber glass S1 R33 GTSt bonnet, it does not have to be perfect or an ADR compliant one. Just something cheap and nasty for the race car. If you have anything PM me. Cheers, Ryan

I have both out of a Series 1 M Spec front bar. They are in mint cond. PM me if you re keen.

I have one out of a 1995 R33 GTST S1 but it has a series 2 motor from the factory if that means any thing to you. PM me with an offer if you are keen.

So i had a bit of a slow weekend on the car but got heaps of other stuff done. I have sorted the isolator issues out, big thanks to Damo. I will finish off the cables during the week and try and get it powered up next weekend. I have attached a little pic of the inside showing the slow progress , it is not all finished off but you get the idea, check out my little helpers. Cheers, Ryan

Wiring Up A Cams Approved Batt Isolator
BOZ22N replied to BOZ22N's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
OK thanks Damo, i got it now. I read it as the alt needs to be isolated from the whole system in the case of an emergency shut down, but it just needs to be isolated from the electrics and the battery needs to be isolated from the electrics to prevent run on. Your system will work sweet then. I will post up some pics of how i done this in a R33 for future reference later on. Thanks again. Ryan. -
Wiring Up A Cams Approved Batt Isolator
BOZ22N replied to BOZ22N's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Thanks Damo, That sounds good but does that mean that when the switch is turned off the alt will still be able to send a voltage spike to the battery and the electronics? Should the alternator + wire be on the same side as the s/motor so to keep any voltage spikes away from the battery and the electronics? Also you did not have any wires going to the main fuse panel to power the car electronics? The R33 has a small jumper cable in the boot from the battery to the fuse panel where would you run yours? I also have a Mac so i have draw you a little picture of what my idea is/was? Let me know if i am going the wrong way about it. Cheers, Ryan -
Wiring Up A Cams Approved Batt Isolator
BOZ22N replied to BOZ22N's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Yer my battery is in the boot with only two cables so the relay idea will not work My car is a R33 and the battery is in the boot with only the two cables so will i have to run cables from the engine bay? Are you talking about an R32? HOOK THE BATTERY FEED TO ONE SIDE Are for getting this off the alternator? RUN THE BATT (+) ALTERNATOR MAIN FEED TO THIS SIDE TOO (DISCONNECT THE ORIGINAL 6MM WIRE AT THE BATT (+) POST OF ALTERNATOR) MAKE SURE YOU USE A 100 AMP HD FUZE OR FUZABLE LINK IN THIS 6MM CABLE. Is this the positive lead off the battery? THEN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SWITCH RUN IT TO THE STARTER LUG AND INTO THE FEED OF THE FUSE BOX RH SIDE OF ENGINE BAY -

Thanks Duncan, Are you calling the positive battery cable the fuse able link? So you just run a big relay in the boot with the switch for it in the dash? So in three posts i have three different ways hmmmmmmmm. -
Wiring Up A Cams Approved Batt Isolator

Thanks Brad but now i am even more confused? I have read it a few times and i still don't get it 100% -

Riteo, I have been building up R33 up as a track car for a while now and i am in the final stages of it. I am trying to sort out the wiring as well as fitting a CAMS approved isolator. They have to be a 6 pole isolator that protects the alternator from current surges etc once it has been switched off etc, the diagram i got with it is below. I am confused with a few of the wires and why the 3 Ohm resistor is required. I am ok with wiring up the main battery cable the positive jumper and the resistor but i am a little confused with the Ignition switch wire and the ignition coil wire. Do you just splice into the ON wire on the back of the key or do you have to cut the wire so to stop the std battery feed? for the ignition coil wire can i just tap into the ignition wire that used to go into the old dash? As i am running a Stack dash this plug is just cable tied back onto the harness. Also i was thinking cause i am running the Stack dash will i have to wire in a Battery/alternator light in so that the circuit is complete and the alternator will still be excited and charge? I was hoping that some electrical gurus could clear this up so that i can power up my car and the info will be on here for other's. Thanks Ryan MasterSwitch_.pdf
