  1. This thread is all over the place. Lol.

I believe that there are others all over the world restoring R33s to factory condition. I know of three that have undergone complete restoration, including the removal and patching of rust areas.
At least two of them were stripped to shells, repaired and then treated prior to painting.
There's currently a 400R (in the UK i think) being restored down to the origianl clips for the hoses and wiring harnesses.

  2. Lol! I heard Nissan is bringing back parts for older cars in its latest catalogue so hopefully we can source these in the future for $100-$200 as they ought to be worth!
Where did you get you set, again?
I paid 57k for my set... lol
They were on the car. But I'm trawling yahoo japan for a set.
  3. All said tongue in cheek, not savage.

You're the savage for not washing that car before video (I have 2 kids, 5 and 2, i feel your pain).

I'm confused about spats now, but they should still be standard. My old car was a v-spec.

I thought standard GT-R end plates had GT-R emblem in them? so you have 1 with and 1 without?

You can't clock up bulk K's on that car. Well, technically you can do whatever the hell you want, but I would "encourage" you to maintain it in pristine condition. If wife needs a daily GT-R, put a GT-R badge on a S2 GTST, they're both slow anyway so she wont know the difference.

"Bulk kms". Just remember, ive managed to clock up only 1200kms on the LM in two full years. [emoji23] I think it should be ok.

Realistically if i can keep it to less then 3000kms over the next 5 years that would be good.

I just don't seem to find the time to get out and drive them. It's not like i don't want to, i just have a million other things that take priority. Booo. ?
  4. @ActionDan Savage review.
All those things you mention are valid. Most of the dirt and dust is because I've been using my garage for something else, so these two got turfed out for a week or so. And yes, the grass does need mowing (even on the concrete lol).

To answer your question, i did the video without any preparation, because I don't have the time, As you can tell from the video this is a one go, get it done effort while the kids were out and I had thirty seconds to myself. I often think back of the luxury of time alone when kids weren't around, lol.

I'm not 100% on the rear spats, I believe they came on V-Spec cars, but not "standard GTRs", which this is.

The thing under the dash has been disconnected, but yes, it used to be part of the alarm, needless to say ten years later that alarm wouldn't stop anyone. It has a new system, including tracking and remote shutdown. So technically is modified now.

The spoiler end plates, believe it or not are stock, this is how all GTRs came out of the factory, the end caps you see on the LM and any other GTR are all aftermarket.

And yes, you are right, I should wash it and it probably shouldn't be driven, but... that's no fun.

  5. It's a real weakness of the forum. You can write giant stories, but people just want pictures. lol
I give the people what they want... once i'm done telling stories of course. :D

Okay thanks, so for say the front diff, i can order an R33 GTR front diff and itll go in my 4.1 from the NEO Turbo 4wd engine or do i need to go for a stagea front 4wd diff fitment?

Rear isn't a problem as iv seen many options for that

Its the front that seems confusing.

The engine i'm buying is just down as an RB25DET Neo 4wd.. doesn't say if its from an R34 or Stagea.. I take it both diffs for the front are the same for them, just not sure if the GTR front diff internals will go in there

The truth here is i don't actually know if the GT-4 is the same mechanical setup at as GTR.
This is where my knowledge starts to run out. At the risk of being an internet jerk, see if you can search here for the data.

Surely someone else has done something similar before. (crosses fingers on ambiguous advice). :)

  7. Hi all, I have a Stagea 260RS S2 , and am grateful for being allowed on this forum, I live in the UK but need the help from you guys as there are not may Stagea's in the UK and from what I have been told only 1 series 2 260RS :)
I have rebuilt a few RB25's in my time so hopefully will have some positive input in the future
Welcome. 260RS is one of my favourites. But i have odd tastes (R33s for example).

You've come to the right place for help. Everyone has an opinion here. [emoji23]

Would love to see pictures of your car. [emoji7]

Do you get the manual gearbox E6x M5 over there like america or not?

We did not. But for that V10 sound, I can forgive just about anything. :)

I had an E60. It was waaay worse than the GTR for maintenance. Spent a full 6 months at BMW at one point. :(
Sold it because it made me miserable to not have it and to have to spend money on it. Immediately regretted it.

Well just on the lookout for if I would expect many major issues running as stock.  It's for a weekender sort of thing but I need to keep it running, can put aside a bit of money for this on top of 'normal' maintenance but I also don't want it constantly holding me hostage.  I'd always thought these were reasonably reliable if cared for, but they are getting pretty old now.

If your keeping it stock, i think you'll be ok.
It's going to be dependent on the quality of the car you buy, and how you treat it, but realistically a good example won't need any crazy repairs. (Very dependent).

Some of the electronics that are in the car can fail (G-Sensor for example), but a Skyline/GTR workshop should know about some of the more likely culprits should anything go wrong.

As with all "Enthusiast" vehicles there are things that will cost a little more than your average, but you shouldn't be looking at any serious trouble. Just be prepared for any failure to be slightly complex and for the workshop to potentially charge you a little more in labour than your average corolla to repair things.
