  1. Thanks @sin-, i'm having this one looked at.
  2. Took a very long hard look at this car. Apparently had a lot of interest on the day. The car itself looked good from the outside, but the underside had a coating of surface rust (not a huge) problem, there were quite a few clamps, connectors and other bits and pieces that would have needed replacing. The real issue was a whole lot of rust surrounding the passenger side suspension upright. The way it was currently it couldn't have been complied before the repairs. Based on suspected work that was needed, I ended up bidding for it with a limit of 2m yen, the car ended up being sold for approx 2.5m yen.
  3. We talk about it here... It's a couple of comments down. As a noob, I was unaware of such fantastic resources.
  4. @sin-, thanks for the tip off. I have asked my contact in Japan to check it out. Funnily enough he said he already had the paperwork and sent it straight through.
  5. @sin-, that's great to hear. Do you have any further details you can give me? A link or where the car is going to auction or it's current location? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  6. This is not important. If anyone turns up an LM in Japan please let me know, i'm searching myself, but others may find things I miss. I have someone in Japan who is willing to look at these for me so all cars are applicable to my search.
  7. @Mayuri Krab, is your car that awesome green? I'd love to see some close up pictures of it when it's washed? I've seen a few (like 2 or 3) that are that colour. Love it!
  8. I have heard back from the NSW RTA via email: So in summary, the NSW RTA will not release any details regarding an imports first odometer reading. So I think as mentioned by Terry above, the best bet will be to go with a Japanese History Check or Japanese Odometer Check. I certainly am learning a lot about imports considering I don't own one yet.
  9. ^^^ That said if you are absolutely sure this is a beep and not some spurious noise, you need to look for electronic boards. You will most likely be hearing a piezo speaker. These are generally smaller than a 5 cent piece and are mounted within electronics, so are hard to hear. Most smart (read: well designed) items will start to beep if the board detects a lack of power. This is most likely the reason, most of the circuit will be receiving 12V (or thereabouts) from the car and will operate fine, but the backup battery (normally a lithium watch or button battery) may run on a different area of the board with it's own power sense circuit. When the power drops the circuit will move from it's normal mode of operation, to a circuit that include the speaker, thereby creating the beep. I'm not familiar with enough of the R33 electronics or any of the aftermarket items to know what it could be, but you may find it's as silly as the clock or radio in the car. I'd suggest (if it bothers you enough) to pull off any trim in the area and try to isolate the sound. It could be coming from deep within your dash.
  10. Depending on the sound it could be some sort of earthing issue. I know that one of my old cars made a low pitch whine when it was started. It varied with the RPM of the engine. One thing I can suggest is to double check your terminals on the battery (assuming you don't have two). Make sure they are super clean and tight. If your car has a separate earthing point to the chassis (normally located either at the front of the car or near the strut towers), check the earth. If this is in poor shape you can introduce all sorts of odd harmonics. The other sound that it could be is a dying capacitor. They make a funny squealing sound when they are dying. Do you have any electronics (PCBs) mounted in the area that could be the source?
  11. I can't say I have, I didn't know they existed. I will take a look into this. Thank you very much @Terry_GT-R34. I'm still waiting to hear back from the NSW RTA (so at least they match VicRoads in that respect). I'll post up anything I hear back for future reference.
  12. Hi Rob, You may want to try popping this post in the Wanted to Buy section. I've got my own little ad in there for an R33. People are pretty responsive and from my experience, people contact other people and a car will come out of the woodwork for you that may otherwise have not been for sale.
  13. Ah, that's some very handy information. If i'm not mistaken the compliance shop should be on the sticker. So I should be able to back track these details if I put in the effort (which I'm starting to wonder about). I'll let you know what I come up with.
  14. " old copies of Pink Slip" Thanks, @l0ckym, if I receive an email from the RTA i'll see if they can send me through any old pink slips.
  15. Hi all, I am in the process of trying to confirm the kms on an R33 GTR that I am interested in buying. The seller does not have any of the normal import documentation (auction sheets, de-registration cert or a Jevic Cert). Normally in my buying process this would be the end of my investigation on a car and I would move on. However, the seller seems to believe that the NSW RTA holds copies of this documentation when the car is registered for the first time. So my question to you: Does the NSW RTA hold copies of the original import documents when a car is imported into NSW for the first time? I personally can't see this as being the case, however i thought I would throw this question out to a wider audience, as maybe, just maybe, someone out there has had a similar experience and can confirm one way or the other. I'm in Victoria so have no experience with the NSW RTA. I have emailed the NSW RTA asking these very questions, but if they are like VicRoads, I could be waiting a while for a response. Any light people can shed on this would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Still searching for an LM... One was offered to me, however 800hp might be too much for me to handle!
  17. @TukeH fair enough, here is my old M5, i loved this colour (threw in one of our old focus too). It was different and unusual for BMW's. Made me love that car even more. I knew it was bad for me, even before I bought it. I just couldn't help it. Totally worth the pain... that noise. Probably the best sounding car in the world.
  18. Have you got a picture of the after? When I was learning I started by applying the softest pads and products on one panel at a time. I would change pads on the different panels until I worked out which was best for the first going over. I used my ute (it has terrible paint, my fault) and learned appropriate, pressure, time on the panel and what not to do with the edges of the panels (yeah, i destroyed the paint on one panel). I then took to our old XR5 with the orange paint. It only needed a very light going over to remove almost invisible marks. The ute on the other hand, pretty much got a sanding...
  19. Hello, could i ask who completed your rebuild and if the car has been professionally tuned with the change of turbos?
  20. 2006 BMW 530i Wagon. Bought on the cheap and fixed up. There's pictures here on page 3:
  21. At this point in my life I certainly have accepted it. I'm torn now between a Stagea with seats or upgrading my wife into a newer car, so I can have her wagon...
  22. Ok, so good news, bad news. I went and looked at the Stagea in the ad above. Good news: It looked great, it drove great, the interior was in good condition. It was perfect for what i needed. Bad news: I don't fit in the car properly. I could not get comfortable and the top of the seat ended at the bottom of my shoulder blades... This car is (was) going to be my daily driver and bike transportation unit, so it was going to be used an awful lot. So unfortunately, i might have to take a look at some different wagons. Thanks for your help on this topic. I'm so disappointed that I don't fit. ***Disclaimer. I'm 2m tall.
  23. This and the fact that were/are expensive. They can be pricey if you don't look after them (for repairs). I love the way they look and they are incredibly practical. Also our 530i is no slouch, i mean its not quick, but it can go a bit and it handles well. Ours has an LSD, but alone time in the wagon is rare , not sure if my wife even knows about it.
  24. Ok here you go: http://yahoo.aleado.com/lot?auctionID=k208692449#enlargeimg That looks close.
  25. I found this (i have a lot of spare time at work): http://www.croooober.com/item/4578342 It really only seems to raise more questions... It does have the same logo on it though. Edit: This too: http://search.carview.co.jp/en/search.aspx?q=TRANCE+HEARTZ+WINKER+POSITION+System It seems from my uneducated opinion to be some sort of Lighting control system.
