Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
minesskyline replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for that. I have Hypertune cam covers, so not sure if the dimensions on these are smaller or not, but I know they are lower. Aren't the position of the shocks different than a R32 GTR? Would Full-Race be willing to allow me to return the manifold if it doesn't fit? I asked Jon this question but I haven't received a response yet. -
Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0

Hey guys, I have a EFR 9280 with a 1.45 a/r exhaust side. I have a RB26/30 block with Hypertune cam covers in a R32 GTR. What manifold are you guys running that fits this turbo on this car? I'm currently talking to Full-Race but it is not clear if the exhaust side will clear. Jon said that some modification might need to be done to the cam covers, which is not acceptable to me. Any ideas? -

I'm super interested to see the results as this is the same combo (from a high level) that I am going to run as well. I haven't bought the turbo yet, as I'm having pre-buyer's remorse, but can pull the trigger any time. Keep us posted. -

.64. I don't remember exactly but I think at the time the .85 wasn't available when I bought my kit. -

Like all RB26s, shitty 4k or under. But after that, pretty good driveability. -
Full-Race EFR Twin comparison?

I made 780awhp (e85, 29 psi), 650awhp (93 octane, 22psi) on a conservative tune on twin EFR 6758s. RB26 (forged internals, stock head), 1500cc injectors, twin pumps. I've since been able to get 850awhp (e85, 35psi) after further mods to the build. -

@Full-Race Geoff or anybody really: Are there any EFR based (single) turbos that can achieve 1100+ hp (to the wheels)? Running a 26/30 (3.2l) (the thread for this is incredibly dry) for reference. -

I think there is not an apples to apples comparison between the two turbo options. I couldn't find anybody running these twins on RB32. Whatever the 9180 does is probably not very useful or indicative of twin 6258/6758/7163. But I am open to being educated. Very real possibility these snails are too small. I am not smart enough to know. -

@Full-Race Geoff Any experience with 6758 on 3.2l? -

I currently have a twin 6758 setup on my RB26. I'm moving to a RIPS RB3.2 stroker. Has anybody had any experience with these turbos on this motor (or a 3.2 at all)? -

Do you have any results from 7163's from Mustang dyno's? Everything I see is from DynoJets. -

@Full-Race Geoff Is it just a matter of swapping turbos from 6758 to 7163? Is anything else needed? -

@Full-Race Geoff Do you think an upgrade from 6758's to 7163's would be worth it power-wise on a RB26 platform? Are there any other twin-EFR options that can do 1000+ HP? I might be looking at chasing more power and I like the EFR lineup so far, so am trying to see if there's something that makes sense for this platform. -

Port and polish, bronze valve guides, retainers and valves (I don't remember the brand off the top if my head). Cams are Poncam B's. -

Sorry, I will take a better picture. 641 on pump at 26psi. 758 at 32psi on e85. The car is really fast. I've been in 9 second cars before and I am more than confident that this is one. I will try to get setup for the track this year to find out officially. -

Here's the 91 pump gas and e85 dyno plot overlay. Let me know what other information you need that's not represented here. I will get whatever you need. Also, I'm running a megasquirt standalone so I might be able to get the tune as a whole. This is not to say that the tuner did not do a good job, because I believe they did a fantastic job with this build. -

Yea, I'm not sure about the oil/wastegate, but it only seems to be a very small amount and only when I'm really hard on it. And 750awhp is pretty nuts already. If there is more, I am pretty happy with where it is now. It just pulls and pulls all the way to 9k rpm. I've already gone through a back set of tires from spinning 3rd and some of 4th. -

@Full-Race Geoff Do you know why the wastegates would allow small amounts of oil to be blown out from them? I have the turbosmart wastegates from your site. -

After speaking with the tuner further, I believe that 750 was all he could get out of the setup. If they can do more, I don't know what other changes could be made to extract more power. -

I am not sure and I don't personally know how to check. I would have to ask the tuner. I also think that would require a retune as well. The shop is remote from me so it's not easy to make changes unless I go elsewhere. -

The car was a dog under 4k rpms before and that hasn't changed now. However, it feels like a better drive overall, especially shifting gears. It doesnt seem like the boost really ever drops which feels fan-f**king-tastic. I don't have the dyno for e85 on me (will post tomorrow) but it made 758 on e85 tuned semi-conservatively, which after driving I am pretty happy with. Will have more updates to follow tomorrow. -

Ok, update in the attached pic. This morning pegged the 3 bar map, had to go to a 4 bar. This is on gas only. -

It's a Mustang AWD-MD-1100 dynamometer. I don't entirely know what this means though (in terms of output comparatively to other dynos). And yes, I am hoping for quite a good amount of power so, fingers crossed! -

So, just a small update: I am flying out to pick up the car tomorrow. I will post some more pics when I get to the shop. Preliminary results on 91 octane are 558awhp. I didn't get the e85 numbers yet, but will tomorrow. Will post dynographs and give an update on the driveability of the vehicle as well.
