  1. Carl, What about this... http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/trboil.html about half way down... says Oil Pressure Orifice... 1/8" male to 1/8" female NPT... Sounds right?
  2. hey nvrstock.. You havent' gotten a response because the experts on these Aussie forums get tired of us dumb American's asking simple questions that can be answered with the search button. If you are not familiar with a couple of American sites... you should check them out. You might even get some hands on local help. NICOCLUB RB Forum http://forums.nicoclub.com/zeroforum?id=135 RaceBread www.racebread.com check you later.
  3. First off.... i have an RB20det swapped into a USDM 240sx. It runs very well, and I am very happy with it, but I have found a noise that bothers me. Can you please help me diagnose and repair this. When the engine idles, I hear a sound from under the timing belt cover. It sounds like the belt it too tight, like it's lugging a little bit. So, I took off the CAS and then the timing cover and put the CAS back on with spacers and started the engine. The noise is almost not there at first, but it gets more pronounced within a few more minutes. There are really two different sounds. One just sounds like the belt rubbing a little bit on something.. that doesn't bother me... it's quiet and normal I beleive. The second noise drives me crazy, worries me infact. It sounds like ballbearings grinding together. It's not completely constant... sounds like it would be at a certain point on the revolution of the exhaust cam gear. My original thought was that my timing belt was too tight. But with the cover off, the belt seems to be ok by touch... it gives about the width of my finger when I push on it between the Cam Gears. I listened very closely in a lot of different areas. The sound seems to come from the center of the cam gear or just a little inside the valve cover. Exhaust Cam gear to be specific. Could it be a bad CAS? Are there bearing in there that go bad? If so, wouldn't the sound seem to come from the outside cap of the CAS? Could it be the cam gear itself grinding on something? I don't really know much about the internals of the Cam Gears, the CAS, how the cams themselves attach to the cam gears... Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
  4. I have not done a full system flush as I am told that is very expensive to do. Though I may have been given poor info. The thermostat is new, and has been tested to open at the correct temp. There is no A/C. The RB20det is swapped into a US model 240sx convertible. With the droptop, I have little need for A/C. I will try with the radiator cap to see what I can see. I am sure that the heater core is stuffed, as the radiator was so much that it needed to be replaced. But, if it was stuffed.. why would I get even a little... I would think I would get no heat at all? Thanks
  5. I have problems with my RB20det overheating. I had a pressure test done, so it apparently is not a head gasket. I had a new radiator installed, so that shouldn't be the issue. I put a new thermostat in... so that should be OK. I beleive it is the water pump that is the problem... I just don't think it is pushing any coolant through the engine... I don't think there is any flow. The other day I was driving it to the mechanics (Will soon be doing water pump), and noticed that I was getting NO heat from the heater. Keep in mind, it's very cold here. The temp gauge began to climb high.... still no heat! I shut it down on the side of the road and opened the hood. In freezing temp, the engine cooled down pretty quickly. Then I turned it back on and wouldn't you know.. I got heat out of the dash... but only for a few seconds, then it sort of ran out and went back to cold/mild air. Had to shut it down one more time to be sure not to get it too hot. Then turned back on, and got heat.. but only for a few seconds... then cold air again. Is this a sign that I am not getting any flow of coolant through the engine? Does this back up my water pump guess? Is my heater core stuffed up? I don't understand why I would get a little heat only at start-up, and then have it go away again very shortly after. My finger's are crossed that the water pump will be the solution. Please let me know what your thoughts are on the heater issue. Thanks
  6. Hey guys... I could use some help getting a part. I am having cold start issues and I want to try replacing the coolant temp sensor on my RB20det. It's the two wire sensor just past the upper radiator hose connection to the plenum area. It has a yellow plastic top. I am not sure of part number. I had one, but noone here in the the US carries the part. Can someone help me verify part number, and then help me figure out who to contact to get one? Thanks!!! Seth
