ACT Charity Cruise, for Victims of Tragedy in SE Asia
cammaS15 replied to cammaS15's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Ok an update. MIVEC, the ACT AFP have been informed and i have recieved a response. An extract from the response.... "AFP - ACT Policing have no objections to the Charity Drive taking place on the 13th February 2005." This is on the proviso that all conditions set by ACT Urban Services or any other ACT Government Body are adhered to, any conditions set by any Federal Government Agency are to be adhered to. and further... "The responsibility for the running of the event rests with the event organisers, not the Australian Federal Police. It is the event organisers' responsibility to ensure that all officials involved in the event, along with those participating, spectating and the general public, are able to perform their business in a safe manner." With that in mind I would like to advise that everyone who attends should drive in a safe manner. I am now finding out what approval needs to be provided to become an "official event organiser". -

MIVEC - havent had a response from the Police yet, will follow up. Cruise route was sorted but with the number of cars we may have to change from the National Museum. I remember we held a Datto cruise there a while back and ran into a few problems with people trying to get out. More information to be posted in the next few days... -

Thanks mate, got the PM. Much appreciated. Looks like we may have to move the meeting point with the number of cars coming the Museum car park may not be big enough. Any suggestions? -

MIVEC I tried calling them this morning and it rang out. I have also sent them an email and waiting for a reply. Will post up the response once recieved. We should have no problems and its best to give them a courtesy call to let them know. -

SkyGTRline completely understand mate. But if we dont inform them then we could be in more trouble especially as the number of cars is rising. They should respect the reason for the drive and to be defecting cars on a Charity cruise with the media there wouldnt sit too well with the public I would imagine. Lets show them the import scene is responsible. -

MYSHY32 after seeing that car, your dad MUST attend so I can take some more pics Stevie - That would be great, round em up. I will be informing the ACT Police of the event and the reason why we are doing it. If we get enough numbers this could be a real plus for the performance car scene in Canberra. It will show we are responsible and have a heart. Good work everyone! -

Thats not a bad idea, the only problem may be the attaction of the Police. Then again if the media show them defecting cars while on a charity cruise, I dont think it would sit well. Once I can confirm numbers I will give them a call. -

SAU's community is gotta be one of the best around. Its a bloody good cause, if you just want to show up donate and go thats fine otherwise if we can get enough people this might be one of the biggest cruises Canberra has seen! MIVEC - Well done champ. Thanks. -
A cruise has been organised in each state, I have decided to participate and organise the Canberra event. I would encourage all members of car clubs to get there club involved in what should be a great day. The plan is to drive to a nice location for a BBQ and meet with some of Canberra's car enthusiasts. A map will be provided closer to the date. Pass the word on this is for a very worthy cause so the more the merrier! Feel free to PM me if you wish to assist with the running of the cruise. More information on cruises in other states please contact mike_thompson_@hotmail.com Thanks Glenn (Camma)

Just before we were leaving I took a quick pic of the R32. I have seen alot of GTR's and that is my favourite, the look, the wheels (the RAYS I always wanted) is bloody awesome. Its exactly how I would do an R32. Have a good one at the nats!

New Motorsport Website - www.valvebounce.com
cammaS15 replied to cammaS15's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Mate Its the only way to get the name out there. Note that this site is NOT a car club and is for posting motorsport events, news and advice. I more than welcome SAU (as well as any other car forums/clubs) to post its events on valvebounce. Its a good way of seeking advice from people in the industry to race competively so you can make the correct decisions when modifying your car for either racing competitively or weekend hacks like myself So far we have recieved some encouraging support from ACTDAT, RENEW, REACT, BMSC and a few other individuals from various racing categories. Unfortunately we dont have many imports including Skylines signing up which is a shame as many of you drive some nice cars and have experience out on the track. -
Hi all, A small group of us have setup a website for Motorsport and Performance car enthusiasts. The website is run by a bunch of Canberrans that were looking for a site that would cater for all different makes and models of cars (yep including imports). Some of us race competitively and others (like myself) are weekend hacks who dont mind the trip out to Wakefield to improve our times and for bragging rights. Events will be hosted starting January once the site starts to get a few more members. All local, interstate and international enthusiasts are welcome. For those that know me I have been a member of sau for a little while and recently attended the Skylines Australia & RENEW day. Im also new member of the NSCC. The site is not really a car club as such but just a place for meets, forums, track days and sharing our knowledge. Its never expected to reach the heights of Skylines Australia but its setup for a different purpose. So sign up and post away. BTW - Site is in early stages of development. We are looking for some Skyline owners interested in motorsport to sign up. Cheers & Thanks Glenn (Camma) www.valvebounce.com

Thanks mate, its Jeff isnt it? Sorry its been bloody ages. We now have a website so we can organise events and put up information on the HG & 1200. Its at valvebounce.com. Every year I have been waiting for a Skyline or import to hit horsepower heros and to get right up some of the V8s but it never happens. Hopefully this year will be the one...
-
I will be there as usual, expect to be drunk by around 11am till the weekend is over. We will have at least one of our cars entered. The injected HG should be there and we are still hopefull the SR20DET 1200 ute will be there too (interior finished tomorrow). They are the same colour so look out for Dr Evil and Mini Me. Last year we had a few girls jump in the ute and take there tops off, its always good for a laugh I think the attitude towards imports and 4s is slowly changing but still wouldnt have one there after dark.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends. Its a real tragedy and a reminder of how fragile life is. For those travelling over the New Years/Christmas period drive safely and take it easy. RIP
-
Excellent. What did you get done? Another for City Exhaust. We got the SR 1200 ute done a week back and they did a great job, looks fantastic. Very professional job.

Wouldnt surprise me. The old S15 couldnt get close to it. Great pics of the GTR getting crossed up btw, definately one of the best looking R32s I seen around. -

Jesus that thing was quick. The slicks must have helped it out of the corners cos once it hit the straight there was no stopping it. Massive turbo and external wastegate but from what I could see it was only running a 12A. :burnout: -

Tosh/Dino, Just a thanks for a great event. There were some weapons out there and it was great to get back out on the track again. I improved on last time so getting there, just need some descent suspension and tyres. Thank again. Glenn
