What consult cable do u need? and what program do u have to run on your laptop to be able to find out codes?

ok thanks paul., if i get diag back on afm's being stuffed il consider getting rid of them altogether with one of these. the initial outlay will be higher but well worth it in the end.

With the vipec plug in, does it use the V44 boardin your standard casing? also will it support standard GTR injectors, because from what i read, it has some problems with low and high impedance using resistors. because if my afm are buggered im seriously considerign getting on of these, but only if itll run with a stock car once tuned.

ok thank alot, was just wondering why the nismo AFM are actually cheaper to buy then the standard nissan AFM for RB26dett. but thats obviously why.

hey all, just wanting to know will nismo AFM for RB26DETT bolt straight onto standard car and run off standard ecu or do u need to have upgrade ecu etc to run them? Cheers Daz

im having a similar noise when i blip the throttle at idle or if i start accelerating when im driving. rattle sound, not sure what it is?

too bad hey col, i got mates coming down from rocky just for jambo ha ha It's always a good weekend too see who's built what, and how it goes, and to see the pro turbo cars nut it out head to head. 2jz seem to be the flavour of the moment, but the sound of a rotor at full noise is awesome, still have soft spot for the Rb's though. Bring it on!

It's always worth it, u never know what cars people have been building up and are racing and also they never dissapoint with 6 sec rotors, and GTR's, and all other types of crazy cars. il be there both days.

Ok. car has fluid in power steering just changed that recently. might have to see if we can find that sensor on the gearbox might be stuffed. Il see if the coilovers are set level all round aswell, as they might be set up wrong.

yeah, well im sure the ecu's are model specific, so i would try find somebody with an n/a RB25de r33/r32 (depends on what model your motor is) and try there ecu if u want to try that. but yeah unless you have diagnostic equipment to plug in, your just going to be guessing if its something more serious then all of the things i have described.

ok cheers. yeah, well its all good to have the self diagnosis of the hicas system and tell you what the flashes mean, but If it comes up like the vehicle speed sensor, its good to know where to find them to be able to test them etc That would be great if u can speak to your mechanic about it, u never know, thats what forums are for, to share the wealth of information out there.

ECU might be buggered, Have u tried swaping it out for another N/A one? just a thought, u never know with all the electronics parts , it becomes a game of trial and error. coilpacks, resistors packs, afm,looms,ecu,fuel pump the list goes on.

Isnt that where the hicas plug is for steering wheel? behind steering column covers, coz my hicas light doesnt stay on at all, and it does light up on the dash when u first turn key on when all the other lights light up. Then it goes away after engine start up, so this would mean that the steering wheel is connected properly etc, it is a 96 with a series 3 steering wheel on it, it was like that when i got it. but this shouldnt matter much unless the sensor is stuffed, which would inturn make the hicas dashlight, light up shouldnt it?

yeah we have been having a look at it, but havent managed to figure it out yet. il try take a look at it when i get a chance. been busy lately, and car still drives fine just except for that problem. see how i go. but if anybody can tell me exactly where sensors etc are that would be great. AFM might be playing up if you got some fluids into it? I.E (water) just another thought.

Yeah it happened when i was travelling along hway mostly at about 100km/h or over. Yeah the car pulls to one side suddenly then straighten's up again then does it again. then it will drive normally for ages, it does it randomly. i have really only had it do it to me a few times as i hardly drive the car for long periods of time on hways etc. and since the hicas code came up with vehicle speed sensor i was going to start with that, but im not sure where it was located for the hicas? I have had the car fully wheel aligned and balanced. it has coilovers, so maybe they are not set the same all round or something, wonder if that would cause it to pull to one side or affect the hicas reading? also Where is the steering wheel sensor located? on the steering rack somewhere?

No i have no hicas light on, but when driving along sometimes the car will start turning by itself then straighten up and repeat again. and this is the only fault that came up on the hicas diag. So maybe hicas system is getting a dodgey speed reading from the sensor causing it to play up.
