  1. Welcome to the family! come in, kick off your shoes we've got a seat at the table reserved for you Guys we might have to extend the table I think, this community is growing fast! Just reading about the power button, you say yours doesn't light up? Probably just a bulb or something in the switch. The ECU will actually put the car into Power mode on it's own if you are vigourous in your prseeing of the accelerator pedal. For example if you punch it for over taking or something you will often notice (if your light is working lol) the power light comes on, and everything functions in power mode the same as if the rocker button was pushed down to manually select Power mode. ie the Ecu is smart enough to say, "I think they want power mode" and give it to you. It will resort back to it's normal mode once you've calmed down in relation to the accelerator pedal and driving has returned to normal. Not sure how long the delay is before it goes back to it's normal mode though. But check it out anyway, my R32 GTS-4 auto did the same thing, so I had some expereince with this system before the Stagea RS4 I have now. Snow mode, starts the gearbox off in second gear I think (I'm not as sure on this mode as the power one, as I don't use it) Jam a 10 amp fuse into the spare slot you have, it is the lowest one in the system, so if it absolutely needs something higher it will be the weakest point in the system and blow, which is good, better that that other stuff. There are no fuses in my fuse block with a lower Amp rating, 10 is lowest (red aren't they from memory). try that anyway, see if the cig lighter works with a 10 in place. The cig lighter function won't blow a 10 (or shouldn't). If it still doesn't work, you may need to pull the centre console out to see if the damned thing is actually plugged in properly. Mine wasn't when I got it, but it did not have the factory sound system in it. I have a feeling the system in my car was removed by previous owner and another head unit was installed. I only had two front speakers (non factory), and my rear doors were empty. So they probably forgot to replug in lighter. I was confident in removing the centre console though as have done so on several cars stereo or electronically related. It's not a tough task, but if you haven't done it before, always error on the side of caution and try to visiualise where stuff will be clipped. Don't force anything, you don't want to break your baby Hope that all helps you, and again welcome.
  2. I love it!!!! Looks real nice, if you get a chance source some clear indicators for the front bar and the side panels. I have them on mine having swapped them over from the ornage ones. Mine is standard silver, and with the clear lights looks very nice. Black and clear would look primo. But the car as it is looks real good. Money well spent IMO!
  3. Couple of photos attached of my boot install done by a mate of mine. Those 2 12's give a huge amount of base response.
  4. ar, that's good to know. MIght try thaqt out and see. I have my stereo that came with the car out on my desk. It's not factory (well I think it's not), it's a panasonic double din. With flap down face to unveil the tape drive, cd in the top. Has a graphic equalizer with multi modes. One mode has the graphic equalizer turn into a little dancing man, one settings makes it into a set of lips that move to the music/lyrics, and yet another is a fighting dude, kung foo fighting. Good old japanese Only think it didn't do was play cd's so maybe the lens was crystalised.
  5. sorry peeps I intend to stick some photos up. My stereo install has been done for one week now. But Now it's all pulled out again, so my flat mate can up the ante for the Auckland Autosalon show this weekend. Which means I'm stereo less for about a week. Thank goodness induction noise is so pleasant When the install is re-instated I'll photo it and post 'em up for the brethren.
  6. oh okay, sorry I stand corrected, the only ones I had seen were with tweeters. I'll count myself a lucky one then yeah if the space is that tight, ie only a set of those cut off tweeters will do the job then I might have quite a time fitting screamers in there then. Will have to do a bit of research around that sometime one weekend.
  7. pretty sure they all have the tweets on the A pillar. Not sure there is much room behind the a pillar for the tweeters of an aftermarket set of speakers to be mounted, so I haven't bothered using those mounting points. I am searching though for internal screamer sirens to replace the factory tweeters in behind those small a pillar grills. To be wired up to the alarm system.
  8. 4" by 6" speakers. I know Fusion make a set suitable. Not sure on what other brands do. Or in the skyline you can rip out the plastic speaker wells and mock up some plywood ones to fit in 6 inch speakers fairly easily. Had two r32's in the past and did that on on both eventually.
  9. Ive just had the Kicker treatment applied to the Stagea. Had the speakers form my R32 coupe, Components in the front doors and rears in the standard mounting points. Tweeters are mounted on the front doors at the pointy bit in the tear shape of the pod (if you know what I mean), rear set of componets has the tweets mounted ontop of the mid speaker. Kicker 4 channel Amp sits in the boot in the rear tyre well, with fan drawing air from the side panel flap on the left hand side of the car. Cool air to keep the Amp happy and breathing. No spare wheel anymore though due to the setup. Amp and spare battery along with fans, are all mounted in the tyre well and with the top flap closed it looks completely standard, two subs will be in the rear compartment, in separate small boxes located (they will be movable to add flexibility) at each rear corner of the car, faceing inwards at opposing angles so as to not distort the waves as had been recommended to me. Good thing about those locations is they have the pop up luggage retaining hooks that I can utilise to hook the boxes too, meaning that if evasive manouvers are required then the boxes won't travel anywhere. I'll flick some pics up once we've vacuumed it out a bit. Only finished late Friday and then we went away for the weekend, so needs a clean up before I go taking photos:) My mate did it, he's a bloody legend!
  10. Are they the bulb that has a white base to them that 'push' into place into the unit? If so then wheat grain bulbs will actually dothe job, you need to thread the wheat grain bulb into the white 'caddy' base. DSE and Jaycar here in NZ sell these bulbs so their Aussi counterparts surely should have them as well.
  11. if you are careful you can most times remove the blue plastic from the bulb. It's sorta like a small blue bulb condom. The heat from the bulb shouldn't melt the plastic, as the heat from them is not much. But seeing as they have not moved in years they can some times stick to the bulb in spots. Bit of massage around the blue plastic can see it separate from the bulb without too much stretching, in which case it will be okay to slide back onto another new bulb. How small are the bulbs? Are they the 3mm wheat grain type bulbs or the 5mm ones? cheers
  12. FRom experience on my R32, and soon to be on my Stagea as they are ALL out, you need to remove the climate unit from the centre console. Eithor the bulbs will be push in from the back and easily accessable then, or else you need to un clip the front whole screen and then the buttons lights will be accessible. You can't get to the bulbs from the front, they generally push in from the back into the back of the buttons.
  13. FRom looking at the wiring associated with the dimming mechanism it does not appear to be part of the factory loom. Is it possible that this is an additional component available aftermarket in Japan, specifically for the car in question? I only say this as the loom addition is covered in Conduit, and loom taped up differently. No additional misc wiring is included in these bits of additional loom, so there would be no reason for them to have been de-loomed and then re-done again. Seems odd. Two small silver boxes (one behind each headlight) are responsible for dimming the voltage to the lights in relation to the car slowing down by the looks of it.
  14. damn it mine doesn't have this, but the car that we have here right now has it. it supposedly drops the light intensity down as you get closer to the car in front or something similar. This is third hand info, so don't take it as gospel. I have looked briefly but can not find any unusual sensor to reduce the voltage to the lights and dimm them. The switch is an on or off one, does not adjust the interior lights but the head lights I'm told. I have two Stageas here right now, mine RS4 1996, and a white RS4 97. 97 has the option along with the luggage fan, mine does not have eithor of those options. Will try to search for differences again out the dront of the cars today. there must be a sensor for it there somewhere.
  15. Not wearing unusually big/wide boots are you? Sorry couldn't resist lol, seems very bizarre.
  16. Yes Croydon's are good guys. I know of a Stagea for sale privately which I Pm's you about via the SDU forums. If you are interested give me a call. I'm not selling it but I know it's not advertised as yet. Know it's condition is good and Auckland based. RS4 V twin sunroofs etc. Higher Km's though. Couple of things need tidying inside, but general interior is very good cond, exterior is damned good and straight. hey Saft, any luck on those prices as yet? My ride is sounding too quiet hard to hear it running when I turn it off and wait for the Turbo timer to run it's course. Shame Selca alarms don't incorporate the turbo timer into the system.
  17. dude, close the boot lid very very slowly, like you might do by accident and leave it ajar slightly. Listen carefully and you will hear a click, watch in amazement as the boot pulls itself closed witha whirring sound and clicks into the locked position. No more slamming required. Let it fall in place lightly and it will lock itself closed everytime.
  18. I'm interested in prices also please. in particular Dolphin clear bumper indicators, dolphin eyelids, and ganador mirrors. please email me on [email protected]. I'm in NZ but if you can furchish me the prices in Aussi dollars I can work out the stuff I require. I have friends in Aussi I can get parts sent too as well so it may make it easier than arranging customs declarations etc. thanks mate.
  19. Coil overs are on there way, sit it as low as she can go.
  20. Second battery is just so that the stereo system does not drain the main system too much. Allows you to park up at the beach or wherever withthe stereo system on, with minimal risk of a flat battery to try and start the car with for the trip home. Charges off the charging circuit while car is running, isolated while car is turned off, so the only battery to be drained y the stereo is the secondary one.
  21. do a search for Nizman. then check out his gallery. Theres a whole heap of photos in there to browse through. If you click the very right most of the five photos at the bottom it jumps across the gallery to the next 5 photos. Saw the amp install in there, and I had decided to do exactly the same thing to mine originally. Good to see the concept works. I was going to adapt it more a bit. It was originally going to be a solid box, carpetted in the same carpet colour as the interior to blend it in better. Solid box was going to have fans in it to breathe for the Amp, but the enclosure would also house my second battery. We have now moved to another idea though. Using the spare wheel well to mount the Amp and the second battery. Sizing shows it will fit in there. Situation is that ordinarily I won't have a spare wheel though. On long trips I will have to carry one in the rear. Keeps the amp and stuff completely out of prying eye site though. My concerns are moisture or any leaks pooling water around the Amp/battery in the wheel well. May abandon the idea and go back to the constructed box. To be done shortly though, before Xmas is the plan.
  22. guys would it be too much trouble for someone to take a picture of the 'locking' mechanism on each end of the cover bar. I wonder if the arrangement is similar to other Nissan wagon's like the Cefiro or Primera. I'm looking to stick stereo gear in my boot space so would really like to eventually geta cargo pull back cover to keep stuff like that out of the eye's of the few that choose a different lifestyle than others on a different side of the railway lines.
  23. thanks Saft. yeah that's the stuff I was thinking of. Our company cars have that stuff across the front of the bonnets for that reason, stone chips. FaithStalker....got it yet? Was saturday pickup wasn't it Be prepared not to hear from your wife for a couple of days, don't worry it's common when a new owner picks up their Stagea
  24. I'm keen to buy it but I'm in NZ. In fairness to the Australian counterparts I'm happy to let them have a first shout at it. If no one else wants to take it from your hands, could you email me on [email protected]. I'm very keen on grabbing it, but would need to work out shipping costs to me in Auckland New Zealand. Slow is fine. can't check my email in the weekend, so I may not get back to you till mOnday if you email.
  25. I suspected as much from Nissan. Do they not know man was only born with two testicles? I'm giving up one every time I want a genuine part....... lol
